One of the best houses I've ever seen ! The energyefficency is just perfectly planned and realised. The whole house looks and feels so open and connected to nature, but is also very modern. I love it ! Thank you for sharing. Greetings from Germany
It’s to confusing that north is where the sun is. I was so confused by that until I remembered that this is Australia. Shows you how programmed one is it where one lives. Fantastic house!
@@FabioFerreroPlus if you like this suggest also have a look at undecided with matt farrell he just did his passive home build in the northern hemisphere
Oh Guys! What a brilliant blend of energy/utilities efficiency and independence, liveability and aesthetics - it’s really awesome to see the same thoughtfulness from your content brought into the world of built fabric - just really excited for you guys 😊
Thank you Paige for the delightful tour of your impressive new home. I’ve been watching your videos, Ryan since the beginning and following your progression to the warm, natural, professional level you have attained. Well done. Best wishes for your future.
Huge congratulations Ryan and Paige! Fantastic House, with every inch of it very well thought out. Coolest thing is the worm tank/garden, such a cool idea, hopefully it produces lots of amazing fruit and veg from here on out!
As a newly minted local (Melbourne) building designer deeply passionate about passive and functional design, I'm truly impressed with the end result you've accomplished here. Thanks for the tour and huge thumbs up for ticking so many boxes. Congratulations.
Massive congrats guys. So happy to see a dream realised for you both. The planning and hard work looks like it’s paid off in spades! The patience and passion you’ve both balanced to get to this stage is inspiring, enjoy your home, you’ve bloody earned it 🎉
🤗 THANKS FOR THE TOUR,RYAN,PAIGE ,NICE TO MEET THE FAMILY ❤️ AND CONGRATS 🎉🎉🎉 ON YOUR NEW HOME IN THE RURAL, YOU HAVE MADE MANY GREAT DECISIONS AND CAN ENJOY THEM FOR MANY YEARS TO COME ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Beautiful modern house, I remember 4 - 5 years ago you both going in some empty land with what felt like cow fields nearby on a rainy day. Good to that you got some neighbours nearby too, so there is a little bit of human-life- energy around
Looks really nice. Congrats. You now have this lived experience. Given the audience watching your Tesla videos, you should consider starting a Ryan’s Energy Efficiency series doing interviews of homes like this and get sponsored to introduce quality products for those who want to build.
Delightful! Congratulations and thanks for the tour of your new home. I've been wanting to do something with my home around being self sufficient and provides great ideas and re-affirms some ideas I've had.
Congratulations Ryan 🥳🔥🎉 Hope you have a great time in the house 🎉 Looking to see more videos on the powerwall 🎉 You really do have some unique feature 😮
It's a beautiful house, and I really love the energy solutions. They're great, too. Also, the water reservoirs and all the great stuff from Ikea are great. I wish you many enjoyable years ahead.
Amazing house, congratulations. It’s clear you have such passion which has translated into such a beautiful, functional home. It was a pleasure to watch this video
I'm glad TH-cam recommended this to me. I love the wall color, the passive solar principles, the solar PV system, the second-hand items, the large windows, the layout, everything.
Brilliant - I am triple your age but I have espoused better building choices in Australia for years & you have followed those principles superbly! There is always some compromise even if money is not an issue but you have managed those compromises well and produced a lovely family home in the process - congratulations!
Thank you for showing around, and congratulations, Ryan and Paige! After watching your videos, I was inspired to buy my first Model Y, and now I'm motivated to build a passive house. Your presentation skills are truly impressive!
Just a tip re the grape vine, make sure it’s not attached to the house. I had one growing over a pergola and loved it, but it was a highway for mice to access and live in the roof. Had to remove it and no more mice in the roof.
Hey Ryan, awesome video. thanks for sharing, you guys have done a great job, looks amazing, love all the cost savings along the way and of course the energy independence. Not that I want to give you another hobby, but seeing the type of people you are, I think you would really enjoy getting a beehive, particular a flow hive :) All the best.
Congratulations on completing your build. The Your Home website is excellent. Jet solar also did our system and did a great job. I reckon with that Air-conditioning system you'll very rarely need to use the fire place, but it'll be great and cosy in winter if required. I'd be very interested to see a more detailed explanation and review of the worm farm composting system once you've got to grips with it. All the best.
I am not a fan of house design, but I am extremely impressed with how you guys have utilized the space to make it look big and beautiful. Well done for keeping the Sun movement in mind, it has surely made your living experience far better in terms of cost savings
Xcellent video by the way . Will say this thou you choosing that heating and cooling system apart from the overall cost is a smart choice. Comparing to say traditional style evaporative cooling and gas heating what you got IS THE BEST. I got it as well and i am glad i did. As for my favorite rooms its the butlers pantry and laundry the placement of things in those rooms and utilizing the small space real well.
Hi Ryan! I'd love to see how you planned all the phases of your new home building, starting with purchasing the land, designing, cost breakdown, etc. I'm thinking of building a house from scratch (not there yet) but it'd be informative for those of us trying to achieve what you guys have achieved!
Beautiful house, great video. Can you do a longform video just on the powerwall, like everything about it? Getting it, how it works, what it actually does. I've been researching it and honestly, no one covers it great, I can't even work out of your electricity stays on in a power outage as some people have said it doesnt work like that.
Lovely house in what looks like a very nice Victorian location. I did have a bit of chuckle when I heard the comment about how cold it was in winter as when I got up this morning it was -23C outside and I had to get up and shovel some snow in the driveway. Ontario Canada is much colder than Victoria but having lived over 40 years in Australia in both Victoria and NSW I know what a great place country Victoria is. Enjoy you videos. Keep them coming!
Hi Ryan very similar set up to my place however I found out that with our renovations I updated my solar to not just north facing but east and west facing. 12 kW I find this to be more efficient to fill the battery take care of early morning and also have enough solar to cover some of the peak in evenings. This takes a lot of pressure off the battery. No doubt heated flooring in the bathroom is a massive energy user especially in winter. I store heat pump has worked well for us over the last 2 years.
You’ve absolutely aced it on this one Ryan, exactly like your videos, perfect! Thank you so much for the Q&A as well, even though I’m only 15, being interested in realestate this actually is really interesting! The sun being the most important thing is not something I would’ve guessed! Congrats!
OK, as I told you on X, I have so many questions for you (besides congratulating you on the amazing house you did): 1. In Europe, we are more used to having brick houses rather than wood. Is that not an option or much more expensive in Australia? 2. Insulation/padding: here, we use (for energy-efficient houses) an exterior layer of insulation. The wool padding I saw in the video is okay but doesn't seem to be super insulating to me. Am I wrong? 3. Your cooling/heating system is air/air, right? In terms of efficiency and comfort, here the recommended system is an air-water heat pump with a floor system. Is that a considered option? 4. Are you planning to expand the solar roof and battery storage? Because, okay, now on your side it's summer with a lot of sun, but I'll be curious to see in winter how it goes… to be honest, I don't think you will be able even to fill up your Powerwall ^^" so it depends on how much your house will consume and how much you charge your car at nighttime. Besides that, I LOVE the water tanks, the worm farm, and the way you designed the house thinking on passivity. Great job!
i brought an old house and put telsa battery and solar in. loving it with charge via solar. one downside now is that the more than 10 year old mitsubishi ac is using more than 10kw when running and power not adjusted as more modern ac does :
Really nice home. Great job. One thing I wouldn't be able to handle is the echo and sound travel in the house. You could really hear the echo at the end of the video during the couch interview. The concrete floors and minimal decor make for a very loud house.
Hahaha we have the same house set up, I have the same istore, Tesla battery same panels but I have 28of those bad boys on mirco inverters for optal performance on the old house and a Panasonic with izone... Al have retro fitted double glazed with laminate.. Picking up the model y today 😅😅😅😅 I have had my house set up for 2 years now, it's amazing constaly 22.5c inside and only very small grid requirement in the winter solstice
