- The first subzero cold of the winter is accompanied by high winds and we need to take special care with our beef herd. It's a part of farming in northern Minnesota where you can't cut corners if you want your animals to be healthy. Here's how we do it on Rolling Hills Farm. #familyfarm, #angusbeef, #cattlefarm, #womanfarmer, #beefcattle,
You are a good cattle farmer Dave. You stay on top of things.
Thanks Gary. Dawn is the real cattle farmer. I’m a tractor guy😊
@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn , you and me both Dave 😁
Good morning Dave.☕️☕️🇺🇸
Morning Gary!
It's really been a week....I took the week off from work to babysit the cows, ponies and the woodstove....they all have to eat and drink when it's this cold. -22 air temp, -30 with the wind was the coldest we had.....Looks like it's almost over, mid 30's for the middle of the upcoming week..Thanks Dave.
Yeah I’m ready for +25!
Good morning Dawn and Dave ☕☕☕
Morning Ed
Good ole Minnesota winter.
Yeah, it takes a certain kind of person.😊
The cold has been tough for everything.
One more night, and a gradual warm up. One more cold snap before spring. The Holsteins would be fed, and watered in the barn when it got this cold. Thank you Dave.
You’ve lived it. The camera doesn’t capture how much this cold hurts your hands.
Everything's so much more challenging in the extreme cold. Stay warm, Dave.
You too. Much snow there this winter?
Not really. Only had to plow the driveway twice so far. Only had 2 snowfalls that were about 4 inches each. The others were only trace amounts.
I've gotta get out the door and get some feeding done.. checked cameras, have coffee.. and breakfast while watching your video.. 👍
Thanks. I’ll take my cold over your ice anytime. Stay safe.
@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn I'd take your cold over the ice and upcoming mud
Good morning Rolling Hills. 🙋♂️. It's been a little bit of a battle this week. I'm sure we'll all enjoy this coming week a little more.
Agreed. Tried to work in the shop but the furnace can’t keep up. Had to run a Mr buddy heater too.
@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn Sometimes all we can do is wait. Had 23 below actual this morning but no wind.
We just saw -17 as the coldest temps so far this season.
The professional weather guessers are calling for +40 by the end of next week.
These drastic swings in temps are really hard on livestock
People don’t realize how much time we spend with our animals dealing with cold and preparing for it.
Dang it Dave!!!! I get up on Friday morning having my coffee didn’t pay attention to TH-cam then I see you posted a day early ,you realize you’re throwing my schedule off?
Sorry Patrick. Wanted to get this posted while it was still cold. Weather is warming to the low 30’s in the coming week 🌞😊.
@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn ,tell me you’re from Minnesota without telling me you’re from Minnesota! 😆
I see you've got your fly trap out. It must be working because I didn't see any.
Hah! You’re right! I’ve made a breakthrough in cattle health 😊
Looks like 30s coming next week! How old is copper?
Looking forward to warm. Copper is about 17. Quarter horse.
It’s getting cold here also
In Ontario I bet it is. We have warm weather in our forecast.
