Say what you want about Paul’s Hardware but this guy shows you the absolute cleanest way to set up your PC after you’ve built it over any other builder I’ve seen on the internet. He is only interested in installing windows and the absolute bare minimum apps required to run it safely. He shows you how to bypass all spyware and bloatware that they try to get you to install. I’ve been watching videos and doing research almost every day for over 2 months on building a pc and while this information is available in text form on various forums, this guy shows it to you in one easy video straight away. Ayyye same here. I'm going to build my new pc this weekend. It has been exactly 10 years since I built my first. I'm going from an i5-3570k to an i9-13900k. Cheers brother!
Big one! Go to accessibility settings, visual effects and disable 'Transparency effects'. Optional also disable 'Animation effects'. Transparency takes valuable GPU resources, disabling animations makes your PC feel much more snappy. Can also do something similar on an aging Android in dev mode, turn animation speeds to 0x
I am probably 25years since my last PC (having gone that laptop, console circle), but doing a new build with my son this weekend…. Staggered by how much everything has evolved… (2 TB ssd just arrived… yikes… how frikkin tiny it is… no more 75MB hdd grind & clunk??)… Your how-to’s have been a great help teaching this old dog!! I also really appreciate your easy manner & delivery, really helps with my understanding of how it all works.
I wonder how much time has Paul spent being so articulate in speech and detailed, this is fantastic video to learn how to teach and explain to my friends and family on how to build a computer.
Man I waited MONTHS for this video to come out. I couldn't wait any longer and went ahead and built my new rig and actually made it through the setup and transferring data and windows onto the new computer. I had issues for a few days with blue screens and crashing and couldn't figure out why. Finally determined it was an XMP presetting in my BIOS that was juicing the RAM up too much causing instability. Glad I made it through in the end. Had to figure things out the hard way, but made it and have been gaming on this beauty for about a month now. Still stoked you released this video! Will be watching intently to see some things I likely could have avoided :)
thanks for sticking around still Treyton! Of all my misses this year, waiting so long on completing this series was most frustrating. I know there were lots of people looking for it after part 1/2/3 -- I am glad it's finally live though! Hope it can maybe still help you out 🙏
I've been building PCs for decades and part 4 was worth the wait. Having watched all 4 parts I can honestly say that this build series was exceptional. Novices are blessed to have such clarity and experienced builders stick around to soak up any info they've missed over the years- that's when you know you've created a superb piece of content. Well done Paul.
Paul, this series has been so enlightening and amazing. I built my first ever PC just a few months ago for my wife and am looking to build one for myself next year. It's really nice to have gone through the process myself and seeing where I fell short. Thank you for your amazing content!
Another good thing to do is go into scheduler and make sure everything is scheduled to run on off use times. I swear 99 out of 100 customers that complain about slow computers is for that one simple thing. They get home from work/school, fire up the PC to do some gaming or whatever and every single thing starts to update, run, scan and they think they have a virus or need a new PC.
I really appreciate this series of How to Build a PC. Your tutorials helped me to complete my first build . You have a great manner and style of delivering your knowledge and advice: relaxed, concise and clear. Cheers from London, UK!
About running that command to enable offline installation - if we download the ISO file from MS, i.e. the 3rd option on MS website instead of the 2nd, and use Rufus to burn the ISO to a USB stick, Rufus provides the option to disable MS account, so we can get the option of offline installation right away without opening command prompt. Rufus also has the option to create a user as per the current system.
Excitingly waiting for commercials to end to see if I did things correctly. Son and I worked it out a while back using other folks. Thank you for all you do, Paul. We built the system found in episode 3. Did I do it right? It works! One thing I learned, and was quite worried about as it was my first AIO build, make sure you tell the BIOS about the AIO.
Glad you got your system going! I had quite a few people asking me about part 4, I know I took way longer than I intended to get it completed. Those AIO/Pump headers on newer boards are quite helpful for AIO installation, but yeah it's a good idea to make sure your mobo isn't trying to run your AIO pump on "silent" mode or anything 😅
@@paulshardwareI just installed my first aio on a gigabyte X570 and I didn't know that was a thing! Would you mind letting me know where that is in the bios whereabouts or what it may be called? Thanks Paul!
@@DarkReturns1 Its in the "Smart Fan" area, where you set the Fan and Pump Speeds. Basically all you want to do is first check to see which fan header on your motherboard you plugged your AIO into, and then when booting into the BIOS (To Get into the BIOS/UEFI Simply Mash the "Del" key as soon as you turn on the PC until you end up in the BIOS), Then if you see "Easy Mode" at the Top left of the screen, hit "F2" so that you are switched to "Advanced, then You should be on the "M.I.T." Menu, and the bottom Option on that page should say "Smart Fan 5 Settings" choose that. Then at the top of the screen next to the Word "Monitor" will be a drop down menu, it will be on "CPU" by default, click CPU so that it opens the Drop down menu, and choose the header that you plugged your AIO Into. You could have plugged your AIO Into any header, the only difference with the ones labeled PUMP is that they sometimes support more AMPS and usually are set to full by default, but that is not always the case. Either way, your AIO will work no matter what Fan header you plugged into, all you want to do is pick that correct header on this screen, and then Drag all of the Dots up to the top of the graph so they are all at 100%. Its possible that will make the pump too loud for your taste, if thats the case, you can go as low as around 70%, but because AIO Pumps are not the most powerful pumps you generally want them to run as fast as possible to keep your cooling as good as possible. Just make sure that you set all the Dots to somewhere between 70 and 100%, then hit 'F10" on the keyboard to save and exit, and from now on your Pump will run at the speed you set. You are also welcome to set any of the Fans on the other fan headers to a curve of your choosing to make them quieter or to make the curve more aggressive based on your tastes. I hope that helps. Feel free to comment back if you need any other help. Good Luck!
Your videos got me through my first build in 2019 and here I am again in the start of 2024 watching these as a nice refresher for my next build. Excellent stuff Paul!
It's like riding a bike. I hadn't built a system since around that time as well, biggest difference I found was no more need for a dvd drive, as well as nvme instead of HDD, and PSU goes on the bottom of the case now. :) Built my system last Summer with an I3 12100, and RTX 2060, I've since upgraded to an I5 13600k and 3070 Ti.
the most helpful and welcomed video i've come across yet. whole series has made me, a first time builder, much more comfortable and confident. thank you so much for all you do and keep 'em comin'
Thanks Paul. As someone who has been in and out of "the know" regarding the latest hardware over the years, these videos have been a great refresher/guide for my new build. I'm finally replacing my ~8 year old tower and decided to go higher-end and am using your "part 3" video as a loose guide for parts and eventual construction, which I hope to get around to this weekend. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this series and keep people informed on the basics, and not-so-basics, around building and setup.
Just finished setting up my very first gaming pc! Thank you so much, Paul! I followed your tutorials every step of the way, and after months of research and planning, I can finally enjoy this accomplishment. Thank you for your great videos and teaching style! 😁
I have been building my own PCs since I first built a Pentium 233 with my brother when I was in middle school (and incidentally fried the motherboard because we thought we had to have all of the standoffs in the case, even the ones that didn't align with board holes). In all that time, I never learned what BIOS means. Thank you, Paul!
This was such a great series to watch and learn, decided to take the plunge and build a new pc for my daughter, never done it before, so this series was so helpful and everything is running fine.
Thank you. I primarily used your build series to complete, just today, my first gaming build! Doing the windows updates currently and just wanted to say thank you for the great content!
The directions that came with my components were pretty good. Linux's write up made the boot media easy. However, it could have done better on where to go after and lead you directly to the most important resources.
Lol. For me it's been 8 years. Finally time to replace the old 22nm Haswell architecture system. Goodbye old Intel 2-core Pentium CPU. Goodbye Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 with 1 GB of VRAM. Goodbye 2015 budget build. Hello 2023 AMD CPU, AMD GPU mid-range build. Jumping from 4 GB of DDR3 ram straight to 32 GB of DDR5 ram is kind of exciting.
This vid is solid gold. Thank you. All the crucial tips for a great new install in one spot with links too. Ill be rewatching this one. Im picking up my final component this weekend, the MOBO. Super excited.
Subbed. I haven't built a pc in 20 years and I'm about to start one off. The clarity with which you cover all the stages - as well as explaining your reasoning - makes your pc building video series stand out. As someone who likes the clean, uncluttered look, I like the way you configured your Windows desktop too. This is the guide I shall be following when I come to put together my new pc.
Great video Paul. Just used this to help me walk through building my first PC! Really appreciate the thorough build and set up series! Can’t wait to get gaming!
@@Andre_ASG it went really smoothly. No issues at all and the PC worked first try! I went with a Ryzen 7 5700X and an XFX Radeon 6700XT, no complaints so far with ultra wide 1080p gaming. I’d say take your time and double check everything, but really the hardest part for me was some of the screws sucked to reach on the motherboard install.. wish I had a magnetic tip screwdriver lol
Awesome! Thank you Paul. Good luck with the move. I'm looking forward to the new space and my Sunday morning coffee and < insert favorites here > to get updates and news briefs.
Maybe late, but this video is perfectly timed for me. I just built a PC a few days ago. It's been years since my last build. I'm sure that i forgot something. I'll be watching later
I currently have a Dell G7 laptop with a RTX 2060, this has been my entry in the PC gaming verse for the last few years. I am not in anyway computer savvy but have come to enjoy PC gaming and have been toying with purchasing a Gaming desktop. I have looked at plug and play, create your own and have someone build it until I came across your channel. I have watch all 4 parts and this has to be one of the most complete and simplified how to builds I have viewed. I just went thru the list of items for this build and except for a couple of upgraded items I stayed right about a 1k which I have ordered. I am excited to get going on this build thanks to your channel and this series.
This video couldn't have been uploaded at a more perfect time for me! I am looking to build my next PC and I'm glad this video popped up for me. That installation was a great reminder just how much bloatware companies offer nowadays. Thanks for making us aware on this. Looks I am all ready for my new PC build! :D
Great reminders of when to backup data for your USB and storage/boot drives. I also appreciated that black screens were normal when drivers first install. I know it's normal, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a twinge of doubt every time the screen goes dark on a new build.
Just finished my first build. It's a middle-high end machine so I watched all four videos. It's running great. Can't wait to start gaming on it. Thank you so much!
I used your "how to build a pc" and "how to set up a new pc" videos 8 years ago when I built my first PC, and here I am, using them again as I build and setup my second PC 8 years later. Thank you so much, Paul!
I just ordered all my parts for my first pic build and this video was the only one that was thorough and really well explained and showed step by step what to do. Thank you so much I wasn’t worried about building as much as I was getting it set up when I was done and you’ve helped me and I can’t wait to get it built and watch this again while im doing it
Thank you Paul. Paul's previous videos on how to build a PC (specifically the one on how to set up windows and stuff) helped me to build my own PC for the first time back in 2019 and I'm forever grateful.
Coudn't have found this upload at a better time. Just wanted to say thanks. After following all 4 parts and some other videos I finally pulled the trigger and built my first own PC.
My tips of the day, if you don't have a wifi or ethernet cable on hand (or they arrent recognise durring install) plug your phone via usb, and turn on "usb modem". This will share you phone wifi (or mobile data) with the computer ! Tada, internet without a 20$ addon
I am building my first PC with mid to high end expectations. This vid is so cool. Watched it several times to get the muscle and mental memory about things to not skip or expect. Thanks.
This video was SO helpful! This was the only workaround I could find (that still works) to get around the stupid Windows 11 wifi requirement. Love your step by step guides for everything - Keep up the fantastic work!
i already know how to set up a freshly built pc but i like watching these videos , and this one is by far the most comprehensive and easy to follow . i think u deserve to double down on the beer today .
Thank you for this series. I built my new PC and used all 4 of the videos to help me through the process. I have built many PCs but your more up to date and detailed instructions and insights made the process more relaxing for me. So thank you!!!
I am 1 or 2 days away from having all the components I need to start building my first PC and this little series has been so helpful, I'll be having it on in the background while I build the tower and can't wait to fire it up and probably not post :D
At 11:25 you show "CSM Enabled", which is NOT the optimal setting. For most users, "CSM Disabled" is a better choice. If Windows has been installed while in "CSM Enabled" mode, you'll need to start over & re-install Windows while in "CSM Disabled" mode. However, if installing Windows 7, "CSM Enabled" mode would be correct.
How refreshing a tech youtuber making a instructional video with tons of useful tips, and is entertaining to watch! Not a mention of the band wagon videos of the last few days. A+ sir keep up the good work!
You have a video on bios settings one should do after a build? Settings like Anove 4G, Resizable Bar, maybe Power Limits or Undervolting to manage temperatures if it needed?
Thank you so much for this series! I just received my case and ordered all the components most coming in tomorrow a few other coming within a week or two I have never built a pc especially a huge gaming pc 😅 your videos definitely helped me feel a lot more confident when it is time for the assembly! Thank you! 🙏🏽
Only thing i would add is: During Windows installation media creation, if at all possible have the USB stick you plan to use be the only USB storage connected. That reduces risk of accidentally selecting the wrong one, or as has happened to me a bug causes other issues (my 32GB USB stick worked as intended but my 1TB External USB Drive was repartitioned to 32GB and also made into a installation Media, causing massive data loss).
Thank you. It was kind of late. Also, I don’t need help with software; retired software engineer. But episodes 2 & 3 were of great help doing my one and only high end gaming build. Thank you very much. Wishing you all the best.
Paul, you are the best! Tech stuff from a nice guy - could be farming the LTT content but the drama is beneath you. :) Absolutely love it and so refreshing. 👍
I already know how to install an operating system, but this popped up on my recommended videos and I watched to check out if TH-camrs are teaching how to install Windows properly nowadays. Was pleasantly surprised by you showing how to do a somewhat minimal installation without a Microsoft account, use sane defaults, install a better browser and avoid bloating the system too much. Kudos sir.
Thank you for this. I just bought my first Gaming PC using cyber Monday sales to get a bit of parts outside of my original budget, and this was immensely helpful. I appreciate you and your work more than you know!
My GAWD, it's PAUL. Your Newegg TV How To Build a PC guide from 2011 or 2013 got me through my first ever build in 2013 at the ripe age of 20. It's crazy looking back, but there was nowhere near the level of "obvious guides" back then. Especially in the 00s when I originally wanted to build in a area where my schools still used 98 and XP along with floppy disks in the late 00s/early 10s Took a whole day but man was that a feeling when it booted; it was also what spurned me to end my semester "off" of college and go back for something IT related annnnnnd here I am 10 years later in IT. Just uh, not at the "big bucks" level yet (hopefully one day). As someone who had nothing better than a dual core Aspire 5742z in my last 2 years of high school and really had no money or knowledge to use to scrape together something, it was a Godsend finding those videos when I was ready to plop down that 800$ for a budget build
Hi Mr Paul, I just want to say thank you, thank you for making my dream come true. I able to build up my first budget gaming PC and it felt so good. 🎉I will start to use it to make TH-cam content as well, just like you ! Thank you so much ❤
Thanks for making these types of vids!!! Just built my first PC and man your vids made it easier. Still about 8 hours of omg where does this go but, not completely lost due to the vids involving this build. Thanks Again.
Thanks for this video, Paul. One thing putting me off building a PC was the post build setup. I knew I’d be able to put one together and get it to post it was all the other setup that I wasn’t sure about. Great explanation and guide, it’s really not as difficult as I’d thought. Definitely given me the confidence I need to take the plunge into a custom PC. Cheers!
Great video series as always. I've followed these for years, and keep up to date with them as the tech changes. Interestingly, the PC I built a few years ago in 2019 after following your videos around then with an i7 9700K, RTX 2070 and 32 GB RAM is still doing pretty well. So maybe in a couple of years we'll be doing this all again.
Thanks for the video. Ive ordered parts for a new build as my current one is quite old. Ive watched multiple PC building videos so far but this one kind of wrapped up and encapsulated everything that ive learned so far from previous videos and more. The windows 11 install USB with the bios and wifi drivers as well as the wifi bypass is really great to know and have. Im fully confident in my ability to build this PC and get it up and running with no issues now. Again, thanks for the video and I have subscribed, I like your cool calm and to the point demeanor.

Hope it can maybe still help you out 🙏
@paulshardware no worries, Paul. The manual tells you how to do it.
Good Luck!
Thank you! I'll check that out asap. Temps are fine but they can always get better lol@@evocatiproductions
Your videos got me through my first build in 2019 and here I am again in the start of 2024 watching these as a nice refresher for my next build. Excellent stuff Paul!
Thanks for the plenty of useful hints and for the SHIFT+Reboot trick in particular!
Thanks !!! A most excellent run down. No narcissistic melodrama, that's a breath of fresh air. 🍃
I’m happy you’re doing this series. I plan on building my first pc since 2008 my how things have changed
Used your tutorials some years ago to make my build, still working perfectly! Thanks!
Perfect timing, my new parts will arrive tomorrow! First time assembling anything in 9 years
the most helpful and welcomed video i've come across yet. whole series has made me, a first time builder, much more comfortable and confident. thank you so much for all you do and keep 'em comin'
I cannot thank you enough. Your tutorial was so easy and simple to follow and you spoke with such a great demeanor. You made my first PC build fun!
Good guy Paul out here doing the work. Need something calming and sane in these trying times. Thank you Paul.
A Paul's Hardware video sure is reassuring in these interesting tech tube times. Thanks Paul. Looking forward to the garage vlogs!
Haven’t built a PC since 2 years ago but it’s always nice to see a build and a nicely paced walkthrough to keep fresh
Omg finally a useful video like this that shows these steps. Was literally thinking I need this so I can build my PC soon one day!!
The small tricks and tips made my build so easy. This three part series is exactly what a first time builder needs to know to be successful. 👍🏻
Critical info well delivered. Enjoyable and informative. You're the best.
Good Paul, above the fray.
Just finished my first build. It's a middle-high end machine so I watched all four videos. It's running great. Can't wait to start gaming on it. Thank you so much!
Glad to see no mistakes at all in this video!
Leave it a rest goodlord. Keep that drama off real tech videos please.
Thank you so much I wasn’t worried about building as much as I was getting it set up when I was done and you’ve helped me and I can’t wait to get it built and watch this again while im doing it
I also ordered all parts for a new PC for my first build :) What did order?
Hey Paul, I just finished putting together my first PC, this series has been bloody brilliant, never thought I could do it, cheers ☺️
Thanks Paul. PC setups are my favorite kind of videos because they are realistic scenarios that we all face after building a pc
i already know how to set up a freshly built pc but i like watching these videos , and this one is by far the most comprehensive and easy to follow . i think u deserve to double down on the beer today .
Thank you for this series. I built my new PC and used all 4 of the videos to help me through the process. I have built many PCs but your more up to date and detailed instructions and insights made the process more relaxing for me. So thank you!!!
I wish I could hit the like button each time I watched this video building my pc, 1 like isn't enough. Thanks for the info man!
This is the part of building a pc that i am most nervous about.
Thank you for explaning and helping me feel more capeable of doing this part of it.
Even as a builder of multiple systems in my life, still learned something I didn't know. Was a fun series to watch.
I am 1 or 2 days away from having all the components I need to start building my first PC and this little series has been so helpful, I'll be having it on in the background while I build the tower and can't wait to fire it up and probably not post :D
Wholesome and relaxing, thanks, Paul.
First time building a PC in 9 years and this series made it so much easier.
This is invaluable.
I built my system step by step, using this video series, and it all worked out fine.
Thank you!
No bs just straight information this channel is the best
:)
Absolutely love it and so refreshing.
What did you end up getting and the prices?

My GAWD, it's PAUL. Your Newegg TV How To Build a PC guide from 2011 or 2013 got me through my first ever build in 2013 at the ripe age of 20. It's crazy looking back, but there was nowhere near the level of "obvious guides" back then. Especially in the 00s when I originally wanted to build in a area where my schools still used 98 and XP along with floppy disks in the late 00s/early 10s
Took a whole day but man was that a feeling when it booted; it was also what spurned me to end my semester "off" of college and go back for something IT related annnnnnd here I am 10 years later in IT.
I hope your views come back around, you are a staple in the community and should be on top
Back for pauls wisdom after studying his techniques for my build from like 12 years ago.
Definitely new computer time.
I love some Paul’s Hardware!
Hi Mr Paul, I just want to say thank you, thank you for making my dream come true. I able to build up my first budget gaming PC and it felt so good. 🎉I will start to use it to make TH-cam content as well, just like you ! Thank you so much ❤
Nice video Paul . I know how to build a pc since 2010 , but i enjoy your the builds
Thanks for making these types of vids!!! Just built my first PC and man your vids made it easier. Still about 8 hours of omg where does this go but, not completely lost due to the vids involving this build. Thanks Again.
Thanks Paul! I’ll be using this for my first build on Monday. Feeling confident about it!
Cheers!
Very use full video will be passing the link to on to others for a how to guide.
With your guidance, I got my PC set up, thank you for clarifying some things I've forgotten
Thank you Paul, finished my first build. Using the list provided and recommended components and settings I am really happy with how it turned out.
Thanks for the detailed presentation.
Always a comprehensive list of what to do! Thanks Paul
Paul has always been a refeshing presence in the tech sphere. I'd raise a cold one to this but I'm currently working.
Awesome job Paul !! Thank you for helping future DIY PC builders that decide to take the plunge.
Really appreciate the tweeks and shortcuts.
Hey Payl would of loved to see how you set up the high end build including undervolting and OC steps you take
Wonderful and helpful video!
