I still remember Edie opening for the Dead Summer 90 at R.F.K. I was already a huge fan so it was awesome to hear them play all my favs on 7/12/90 before my last Brent show began.
A real musician. No time for stupid stuff. It was the time of pot and (very old) LSD and coke. Maybe they all did some but, there is a screening eventually.

so cool to see jerry play at this point in his life so studied on country guitar players subdued yet snappy original powerful godlike really in its pulled back but perfectly pushed tones. the idea of playing deep inside with this sound system style is really really smooth clear revealing and ahead of its time like usual but also unusually new tones that not even i would expect form them or anyone.. the ability to understand the genius of 90s jerry is to really try to play some of the lines and see how he took an established disregarded heart of america sound and make it original shiny beautiful and new, only jerry and friends could pull this off.. love the story of phil inviting jerry to his symphony and not expecting him to come, and seeing jerry in the front row. jerry complimented phil after the show like a professional and honorable musician which jerry never stopped being till the day he died. never listen to perrish bob or phil if you like 90s jerry think of cripe kimock kahn grisman who said jerry was so elegant and beautiful in how he played in those last years which is the truth as i see it i mean i shouldnt have to say this but peggy o las vegas 94 or so many roads chicago 95... the perfection in touch is not matched thank you. nothing is more healing than the human touch - bobby fischer and i believe jerry had the most healing touch in the 90s, thanks everyone!
the dynamics and textures are pretty amazing during this time the idea of shadow play with the stage lighting and live music shows are pretty amazing.. too bad they were usually too burnt out and uninspired to do it in the studio i always wonder why they didnt record everything like the unbroken chain release that sounds clear loud and perfect! it also captures a truly trippy aspect of the dead yet its relatable to everyone with time and care its amazing.. but hey thats the dead haha!

Who needs a grand piano,a Rhodes,and Hammond when you can play a 50 buck Casio from Radio Shack. Also,whoever introduced the MIDI to the Dead needs to be publicly flogged.
@@claymationwaves actually, in this era his bandmates have said that he was having a lot of trouble and we know from recordings that in many ways he was an almost an absent contributor. Here in this video he is visibly fatigued and ravaged.

Bought her and Paul a beer one night. The first time they were on David Letterman, Paul was in the front row. She said it unnerved so much that that’s what caused her to clap off beat
donna needed no lessons. her bona fides were well established long before she met the dead. her days in the swamp are well documented. stop comparing one musician to the next

oof... Jerry, near his Worst. He looks (and plays) like an 80-yr old man. He was only FIFTY-ONE here. It was all over but-for-the-cryin' by 1988.
I agree, its not great but ‘89-‘90 years were really great.
It was all over when Brent died and Hornsby stopped filling in. 3/29/90 is a good example of that. As is 9/10/91.
