    That Erosa cowrie is gorgeous! And the next is the rosy spindle cowrie!!! I can’t believe what a large variety of cowie shells there are. 🐚🐚🐚 So much shelling goodness!!! ❤ You know, before I started watching your videos I was only familiar with snakeheads and ring top cowries. Lee’s step-grandfather gave me a pair of ring top cowries he collected from his time in the (sp?) Sea Bees in the South Pacific. He gave my mother-in-law a snakehead that I now have. They are very special to me. Wonderful video, thank you Maddie! 🥰🥰🥰

      G’day Pam 👋🏻💖 YESSS EROSA LOVE 💚 I love it so much… the colour might lighten now that it’s away from the sea (because the one from a friend from before Christmas did, surprisingly), but it’s just such a lovely Erosa; my favourite I think 🤩 Oh wow Pam, that surprises me; I thought you might have been familiar with more cowries species; mostly because I assume that most of my subscribers have watched Shellcade at some point as well 🤣 Wow, those two cowries from your family must be vintage by now- definitely family heirlooms! They sound really, really special ❤️ I think those kinds of shells are wonderful to pass down… one lady I was talking to at the beach mentioned that shells have a special energy in them just like crystals, if you believe that kind of thing. I think it’s a lovely sentiment regardless. Anyway! Thank you so much for watching my adventure today 🥰 (Did you catch the super secret bonus scene right at the end of the video? Ninja cameo!)

      G’day Katherine 👋🏻🐚 Thank you, I can’t believe that wonderful Erosa was wedged there for my to find. I counted it in my head; there were at least 5 other shellers that checked that spot earlier in the afternoon. Maybe it just washed up, or there was too much water to see it earlier? Anyhoo, thank you very much, I’m also quite glad that I was the one to grab it out 🤩🤩🤩 and thank you, once again, for joining me on a shell finding adventure 🥰

    Oh my sweet seashells ! Hey Maddie, it is so great to see you ! You found some wonderful shells today. That rosy spindle was beautiful and that wientltrap was great too but they are not my favorites. My favorites for today are the white moon snail and that beautiful yellow cowrie. They were just so gorgeous! Hey stay safe and keep shelling !

      G’day Anita 👋🏻🐚 It’s wonderful to see you again too, thank you your lovely comments 💖 I was quite pleased with the Rosy Spindle Cowrie - I didn’t even have to dig through a massive shell pile to find it 🤣 I agree with you on the wentletrap trap; I like them but this one was far from my nicest (when they get BIG though, oh boy, don’t they look spectacular! But yes, plenty of other more lovely shells out there) Oh wow, indeed, it was almost easy for me to forget about the lovely white moon snail with everything else I picked up, but you’re right, it’s lovely! Which yellow cowrie was your favourite; the one at the start, or the Isabella at the end? Just curious 😉 Thank you so much for coming along on the shelling adventure today 🥰

      I am doing okay. Your videos help me so much. We just found out my husband's grandmother had a stroke and my mom is 12 hours from me and she is not doing well at all. They called in hospice for my mom. So a long trip is coming up and the 2 surgeries I had on my foot/leg has decided to swell up very bad. I have to make the trip tomorrow or thur. So I can say goodbye to my mom. Your videos really help me to stop and take a breath and be very mellow for a little while. So thank you so so very much. You are amazing.

Although, I’ve heard that Lynx cowries aren’t that rare, but I don’t agree; I almost never find them! That Isabella was a really nice find though, they truely are hard to come across 😉 Thank you so much for joining me on this adventure 🥰 don’t worry, I’ll stay safe out there! @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G’day Trina 👋🏻🐚 Haha, I hope you don’t mind the common shells too much, I think they may be more exciting for everyone other than me, though 🤣 which is why I wanted to show them! Yes, I absolutely should take a little more time to have “pile time” for anyone who wants to look over it. I realise after the fact that a lot of people would probably enjoy this, but always seem to forget on the day. I will endeavour to improve- thank you for a reminder, I know it would be way at the back of my mind otherwise 😭. Thank you so much for watching 🥰

    A WORD TO THE WISE: A number of years ago I moved to Maui Hawaii and lived for six months. There I collected many pretty shells (Much like you have on this post's video) It was a few years later that I learned that quite a few of the pretty shells I was holding and playing with.....WERE ACTUALLY EXTREMELY VENOMOUS SPECIES (many of which, even to this day, there is no known Anti-Venom treatment. Moral of the story (Before you, (or your friends or worse yet your kids) go picking up any shells to collect YOU HAD DAM WELL BETTER MAKE SURE YOU KNOW what species they belong to and if it is a safe shell to be handling.. It was by sheer luck that I did not get stung that day.....and I am able to write to you this warning... Collect pretty shells? SURE ...but know what the heck you are handling BEFORE YOU DO!!!!

      Tim, Maddie is no dummy. She know the cones are dangerous. She is an adult and not a child. I am a serious collector and she is very knowledgeable. The cones are the most dangerous. G’day Tim 👋🏻 That’s some excellent advice for new beach-goers! I find that a lot of people don’t know about these deadly sea snails, they aren’t talked about in school; yet most Australians know about how deadly the Blue-ringed Octopus is. Considering that 85% of Australia’s population is on the coastline, it is quite the oversight in my opinion. I’m glad that you’re still with us today to share these warnings. I am aware of the snails which have a deadly sting to humans, mainly the cone shells: Textile, Admiral, Striated, Geography, and several others, all of which can be found at this beach where I shell at. It’s the reason I have tongs in my bad to inspect these shells if I see them, and also why I won’t pick up rocks or dig through sand piles with my bare hands. I try to be as careful as possible! Thankfully, these snails aren’t aggressive to humans, which I probably why you weren’t stung, but that should never be taken for granted. Thank you for watching the video, and sharing your story and warning with us ❤️

      @@timeagan893 Thanks Tim. I am a professional collector. Yes, most Australians who collect shells know about the danger. I have a number of Hawaii shells in my collection and I sent some to Maddie. I know what is dangerous because I collect them. I have a number of poisonous cones in my collection. PS...There were three shells/types that I could have/ would have avoided....Had I only known what they are and what they looked like...( which was easy to remember once I was shown what they were. And BTW the venom of these species is among the worlds most deadly, fast acting, and Un-treatable of all natures venom types....of which you already know are many hundreds

    • @SandCoffeeRocks
      @SandCoffeeRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed, I’ve heard that the venom is untreatable because the snails themselves are all unique individuals with their own blends… they mix it as they inject it, so the ratios and formulas are all a little different; just like how we can’t get a vaccine for the common cold because it’s so varied. Thank you for your consideration for my safety and and safety of other shellers 🥰
