The crappie was a black nose crappie which is a hybrid. I had two in a fish tank for over 2 yrs. When one died thee other was distraught, luckily a bigger bluegill saved him! I still have Carl who will be 3 Jan 4th and is about 8” now!

I have been thrown cast nets all my life and I have not seen two people who do it the same way and if it is working for you that is what matters and you are catching hell of baits so don't listen to anything people ever say about it you are getting results from the way it looks so keep on doing it the way you are going

@@BobbyOfEarth your wisdom is unparalleled 🙇‍♂️ ... I tripped and fell in a creek while casting .. anyone with an IQ of a 7 years old could have understood that its pretty normal to be tripping and falling while casting . Other than that if your having Dad issues or if you don't know who your dad is , or if your mama hates you .. I feel sorry for you son .

The shad are trying to get into the lakes right now you can get GREAT bait at any point they can swim up 👍 i've been getting monster shad in small creek like spillways. Also fold the horn of the net over about a ft and grab the horn or so it will help throwing it with bigger nets.

Your cast net technique is not bad at all, the problem is your application of it, you need to twist at the hips turn from the back forward more as you release it and it will open up a lot more, right now you are being too stiff and only using your upper body when throwing it...nothing to be upset about though, you are having fun, catching fish, getting views, and we enjoy watching them, no big deal.

the harder you do the swing the more speed youre weights gonna have, so youre weights gonna pull youre net more open when it reach the water. It is just to help you trowing better. dont take the net in youre right hand if you gonna swing, take in youre right hand also the weights ( not the net) , like that you can give youre swing much more power. In the air youre net must turning arround so now the weights turning arround they pull youre net more open and make a nice circle . Sorry for my bad english my friend, I hope it is understandible . In a nutshell do it like you do it always but take the weights in youre right hand instead of the net.

Im not going to judge you on net throwing brother or on anything that I have seen on your video. I've never thrown a net in my life but i will soon. It was very informative though just knowing the diversity of fish that can be found in a spillway that is great to find bait. I just wish i knew where you were throwing your net (what state?) Im from Los Angeles, California and our spillways are nothing like that. We got to settle for small ponds and very few at that.

I know it is gross in the Houston water, but I can always get the net to fully open by putting one lead in my mouth and holding it with my teeth. Then pull packwards on the hand holding the net during the throw. It spins the net open fully.
