In this video, I am replacing the Throttle return spring on my Yamaha R3 with a Norton Racing Soft Pull Throttle Return Spring. This Spring is softer than the OEM spring and provides a much lighter, easier pull on the throttle when a race throttle system is installed. As a result you will need less force to twist your throttle resulting in a more "gentle" throttle and offering better throttle feel and control. This small change will make a big difference when spending long hours/days on the track.

Thank you for the excellent video! This is the clearest demonstration that I've seen so far. Much better than Norton or SportBikeTrackGear!

Really appreciate the time you took to go through this and upload the video. I watched the video from Sportbike Track Gear on how to install the woodcraft clip ons with the motion pro throttle and kill switch, but Brian did not change the return spring on his bike. This is really helpful!

      @@landry555 Great video Tom.
Would this spring work on a normal street R-3 with the R6 throttle tube or would it be too soft? Thanks.

@@donaldsmith6826 Hi! Thank you for watching. I have the MotionPro throttle kit on my bike and I definitely find it more enjoyable with this mod. So, I would think that you will see a difference on your R3 as well. Let me know if you decide to move forward. Would love to hear your feedback.
      Cheers,
      /Marco

Morning. I have the MT-03 (same as R-3 mechanically).
Installed sping but I removed coolant overflow tank, much better access, bit of a learning curve getting spring on for me.
      Definitely easier throttle movement.
Can't test yet it's 25degrees outside, should be good.
      Thanks for video.

Hello, Im intending to loosen the throttle return spring on my XSR900 as the torque from pulling the throttle tube makes me exhausted when driving over 200km. Im wonder if the process is similar or much different?

Would it help with removing some engine braking?
I don't like how quickly the bike slows down. Sometimes it's so much so that the rear tire starts to skid in these colder temperatures

Hi! 👋 You wouldn’t see a big difference in back torque reduction. If you want to reduce the skidding, a slipper clutch would certainly help.
      Thanks for watching!

What you really need to reduce the engine braking is a flash tune from Norton. The hard engine braking on the R3 is due to the injectors cutting out completely when the throttle is closed. Norton has a setting they program to fix this and you also get the performance boost that goes with a flash tune. It's about $355 and you send your ECU in.

@deedle6073 wonder if the one from Two Wheel Dino Works would work as well? Have a gift/credit with them.

@@airdreams1 Not sure. You would have to ask because I don't see anything about engine braking on their site. The Norton flash specifically lists that they reduced the engine braking.
