I love your vids and planes. However The Fly baby Was designed and built By Pete Bowers for an EAA contest in 1962. There are several variants. There are many flying and still being built today. It is an awesome plane.
Pete Bowers' Fly Baby design was never used to haul freight, mail, whatever. The payload was not big enough. It was designed with a Continental A-65 65 horsepower engine, which, while sufficient, was definitely not the powerhouse needed for freight or aerobatics. I personally own a Fly Baby, N6JF, and am approaching 100 hours in her. She's a joy to Fly, but for cargo capacity, an overnight bag would have to be a small one. Pete Bowers actually designed a pod that mounted under the fuselage, to expand the minuscule storage capacity of the fuselage.
I think the confusion is a result of the "U.S. MAIL" paint scheme on the Eclipson demo model. I had to do a bit of googling too in order to learn it wasn't used by the U.S. Postal Service.
You guys should take a crack at designing your own 3D printable designs and maybe having a design competition. It would be cool to see your team learn a new skill and even if it crashes it would still be spectacular!
@@TobbeArnesson for real though! I always have to remind my wife not to talk to me while I'm doing my pre-flight, so I can't even handle a simple conversation with my wife let alone filming and explaining and hyping up a product. Maidens are tough sometimes.

And as a matter of fact, I have always loved the fly baby and other vintage looking airplanes and have already purchased it from eclipsen. Was quite interested to hear that the color fab lightweight PLA was very favorable as a printing medium. Have you ever heard of aerolite.? A. Prefoamed PLA. But based on the review, I just heard of the color, fab light PLA and the finish and the ability to take paint. I will give it a try first. Still would like to know a review on the aforementioned PLA. Thanks guys. As always, you're the best.
You guys build Luke's landspeeder but somehow overlooked the Moller Skycar...if we could get his concept to be a suitable drone (400 or less) in every hobbyists home, he could produce his engines and we can ALL start flying ((silly motorists, Roads are for Truckers))!
The FlyBaby is closely related to the Story Special. Pete Bowers, designer of the FlyBaby, was a partner in one. A major difference is that the FlyBaby is all wood, the Story Special had a welded fuselage.
I just bought one of your models and I built it I had fun but the thing that kept the prop on fell of and I can’t find it. Everything else works fine though thank you.
maybe next video you could show how to take the electronics of the sport cub s2 and make a plane for it?. a few months ago my brother tried to spray paint his, and it ruined the foam, I want to use the electronics, but I don't know how.
Iv printed a few LW-PLA planes and they are not worth the cost and effort . These planes are extremely brittle and can’t handle wind . I think regular PLA planes are much better . But with that said the plane does look cool
3D printers use a g-code that is produced by using a .stl file with a slicer. Cura 4.6 works the best for the fly baby. My Fly Baby came out perfect. Cura 5.4 did not display the .stl files correctly. Hope this helps.
The aluminum wire sold for Xmas decorations would work well vs the string. It would add force both ways only needing one piece and it's lite as string.
ok you lost me when you totally got the history wrong. Also, the flybaby ding is on the bottom of the fuselage. It looks wrong like a mid- wing. The original flew with a 65hp engine and flew slowly. Never a heavy hauler. Peter Bowers was also a very good modeler.
A bit too FAST for my taste. I have made a lot of FlyBabys in my modeler life, but traditional wood-and-canvas produced much slower planes, and easier to fly. Nice ship, anyway.

The metric system is easy.
you can never go wrong with an Eclipson model unless you don't follow the Instructions or settings.

This 1960s home built was never used for hauling mail and it was never developed into a mail carrying plane!

Specifically lightweight PLA which has a foaming property. You can also get pre-foamed which I hear prints with settings more like traditional PLA.

Fly Baby was a homebuilt plane by Pete Bowers. Made in 1960 for and E.A.A.contest, which it won.

You can’t correct torque with ailerons. Learn to use that RUDDER stick
