I definitely think there is a wonder pick pattern or thing that reduces the chances as most cards in 3rd, 4th and 5th slot alternative between eachother, 5th to 3rd slot is most common. Id be interested if theres anything that helps picking the right card I want 😂
It should be like yugioh of they want us to keep opening cards...box pack of 200 packs when I didn't get all the cards I move on to a new box until I get lucky...but I'm canceling my extra pack a day for 10 bucks f this predetermined
In a weird way, I actually kind of like that it's this way. Despite it being decieving, it's nice knowing that if I didn't get lucky on a pack opening, I was simply just unlucky. Rather than sitting and thinking that one of those other nine packs could have had an extremely rare card. Because at the end of the day that's exactly what you're doing, opening *one* pack. It's not like you get that option when you buy physical cards at a game shop. The worker doesn't pull out 10 packs out of the box and put them in front of you to choose. They just grab a random pack from the top and it's yours.
@@johnsmith9476 It is random though what do you mean, the pack you'll recieve is a completely random pack selected the moment you click open. The point that this video makes is that instead of generating 10 random packs and letting you choose one before you know what's inside, it just chooses one and your choice is an illusion and this is somehow bad, even though the outcome is the same, though i personally disagree as it literally makes literally no difference.
@@sloth616 The pack is not predetermined, it is chosen at the moment you click open completely randomly. And they may have done it this way because this way instead of having to generate 10 packs of cards and keep track of wich one you choose, the servers only have to generate one. this is more optimal and easier to program and, again, it makes absolutely no difference on what you'll get.
While I agree that it's not randomized (or rather, that you aren't given more than one randomized option), one could argue that the "open 10 packs" thing is still random but that you trade off manual luck for automatic luck to save time. That is, like the lottery. Technically, filling in 10 random plays of the lottery is literally just as likely to win as bubbling 10 "quick play" draws. But the difference is that you can't create your own luck in a sense if you let the machine decide. You just choose to use "automatic luck" in exchange for getting time saved. Likewise, it's possible (but I doubt it) that doing 10 draws in Pokemon is like doing 10 quick picks, therefore not proving that single draws are random.
@@uhwaykin and what does it matter if the packs are different? either way it's 120% RNG if you'll get anything good, the only thing different is how you cope with yourself lol
No no, the sheep matters, it's just that the sheep's life essence is absorbed by the API on the backend instead of the app itself. Common misconception!
I realized this once when my phone turned off while on the carrousel. When i opened the app again, it told me that my cards were in my collection and i could sort by recent to see what i got.
no. the crease theory is still correct but not the way you think it is. while yes, everything in this video is true and the pack content is determined right as you enter the carousel, the existence of a creased pack is still going to indicate a rare card inside one of the packs, actually all of the packs because it doesn't matter whether you pick the creased pack or a different one as they are all the same. it doesn't really matter at the end of the day but you can, if you want, spoil yourself a little before you open the pack. I just like going through the carousel and look for a substantial crease and then if I see it I know this is going to be a good one.
As a game dev myself, rng is rng regardless of your "ritual". And of course the carousel is all the same pack, whats the point in sending the data for 50 cards when the player will only ever see 5. Thats a waste of data, and not optimal.
@@BigBo-PeepIt's a fun way to open a pack, also there is literally a lot of games that do this that gives people the illusion that they have a lot more influence than they have so it's not really an uncommon thing
It's still random whether the five are picked before or after the carousel. There is no way they would send 10 packs from the server to the user and then let the user pick one of those 10 because that's how you get cheaters who hack the software to gain an unfair advantage by "peeking" at the incoming server data before making their pick. If the wonder pick does not randomize the player's pick on the server side, then it should in order to prevent cheaters from gaining that unfair advantage. This has nothing to do with how you feel because in the end the odds cannot be *and should not be* affected by the player so that everyone can have a good experience.
Wouldn't the solution there to just have the cards be generated on picking the specific pack then? Have it so the cards are generated when the top is opened.
Garbage. It's still about luck by the time you hit "open pack". Regardless if there's 5 or 50 different cards. Just be happy, it means you're not missing out on anything better when the pack is poo
@nicolalama2562 I've been rerolling accounts since the game came out, i never saw text specifically saying the packs on the carousel is distinct from each other, could you tell me more about what you're referring to?
Here's what I found in the Attention tab in the Offering Rates: Step 1: Pack Selection Step 2: Card Selection About step 1: Pack Selection Pack selection is the first selection process that is carried out. In pack selection, a pack to be opened will be selected so that step 2, card selection, can occur. Please see the Offering Rates tab to confirm the category names and offering rates of packs that are generated. About step 2: Card Selection After the pack to be opened is decided in step 1, pack selection, step 2, card selection, is carried out. In card selection, the cards that are actually generated will be selected. **The categories of cards offered and the offering rates differ for each pack. For example, if a "regular" pack is selected, cards will be generated as displayed in the categories and offering rates for "regular packs." @@finnsterrzz oh ok. Well i won't defend that this is a shady thing to do, and i think there's a legitimate case for misleading users, but i saw skip button almost immediately and assumed it was irrelevant
@@DjinnZhad I think the excerpt above specifically talks about CATEGORIES of cards being different between RARE packs and REGULAR packs. They don't mean that every pack in the carousel technically has different cards in them.
I'm kind of convinced that with the Wonder pick it doesn't matter what you choose, all tiles are the same, then it shows you what you got , takes you back to the selection screen where it tells the server where to place the remaining tiles randomly and reveals them
This actually feels like a bit of good news to know that I am not passing by a better pack during pack selection. Now if I could actually get a card from wonder pick that I actually want, that would be nice.
There is inherently no difference between the 1/5 of picking the wonder to pick and it already being selected at 1/5 odds when you click the card. The same thing can be said about the pack opening
Makes sense, that's why once you click on "open pack" and go to the wheel, you can't back out and pick a different pack type. If you try, it just puts a pack right in front of you instead of picking from the wheel
I'm fairly confident the wonder pick is similar too. The input that's sent to the server of your choice is to show the predetermined card that was chosen for you at your chosen spot.
I mean this really doesn't make a difference. Its random to begin with, if it happens before you click open pack or after, none of it matters to you as the player.
Kinda to me. I always thought there are different cards on each pack so I thought "What if I generated a god pack and miss it?" So I always do 10x pull which is hard to save up as an f2p. Now I can just do 1 pull without worries😅.
It definetly does matter, if somebody hands you 10 packs the chance for one of them (or two or three) containing rarer cards is slightly higher compared to only one pack. If you would pick the right pack out of 10 is again chance but you have a 1:10 chance to pick the right one of a slightly increased chance.
@serghonest9 I think it makes a difference too. If it worked how we first thought. In having to choose the pack we thought was better. Sadly it's not how it works
I'm glad its "rigged", makes it clear I don't lose out, and that it is just random. I haven't cared on what I get, I just know I keep getting cards I like.
I am glad that the pack choice doesn't actually matter, because my lizard brain kept wanting to try and draw a pattern based on the "vibrating" pack. Because every so often while going through the carousel, a pack will trigger your phone's vibration function while scrolling past it.
2:25 It would be a terrible design choice to send data to the server simply for selecting another pack. From an engineering standpoint you would want to fetch all the identifying information you are about to show in this screen (visual data of the cards) and then only send the selection of the user to the server and get the contents back. Just adding detail to this, because the app not transferring data during the carousel is not proof of rigging, but rather proof good engineering. That doesn't say anything about the rest of the issue, tho 😅😅
I'm 100% certain the WonderPick is random too. In terms of programming the chances of you already getting a card is 1 in 5. The card you get is sent the moment you activate WonderPick, and appears regardless of which of the 5 cards you pick. The remaining 4 cards are then assigned to each of the remaining slots. It'd only make sense for WonderPick to be programmed with selection in mind if the shuffling animation was actually trackable for the player. Doubt me? If they handled booster packs like this, why wouldn't they do the same to WonderPick? It's just a simple Array with fun visuals.
its not manipulative. it is even written in the details how the draws works. as soon you choose a pack to open, it will determine every singel card in it from 1 to 5 and the best chances to get a good card is at 4 and even higher on 5.
If anyone honestly thought they would send you 10 separate sets of data to pick from is crazy. The wonder pick is likely the same kind of system. The card you get is predetermined. It is way easier to just pretend like you are getting a choice than actually making a choice
With wonder pick, I just pick the same spot everytime anyways. I will get the card I want or I won't. Eventually I will get all the cards anyways. Just a matter of time.
@jonnyt10101 The one time I tried to change up my pick spot, I got the only card in the pick that was a copy. Got pretty upset at it but then just did another and got an EX I hadn't gotten yet. I have notoriously bad luck in my friend group so it's gunna take extra long for me to get most cards. Trade can't come soon enough
Did you even watch the video? Your choice is being used in the servers for Wonder Picks. And there is absolutely NO REASON as to why they couldn't send you 10 separate sets of data. That's super easy to implement.
ive noticed for the wonder pick if youre paying extremely close attention you can actually see where the card you want goes in the shuffle. cant say it works every time bc it goes fast and its tricky but it seems to be actually accurate shuffling
Actually if you look at the offering rates description, it explains this exactly. “After the pack to be opened is decided in step 1, pack selection, step 2, card selection, is carried out. In card selection, the cards that are actually generated will be selected.”
Wasting time looking for a bent foil was annoying and made pack-openings a bad experience for me. Thanks so much to everyone who busted this myth. And thanks, Dkayed, for getting the info out there.
That’s exactly what I thought. It’s probably a predetermined seed based off what you did before you opened the pack (which, in case you’re wondering, would be nearly impossible to manipulate). Still, I wish the pack you picked determined the RNG you got. This also explains why both the 10 Pack Pulls and Promo Packs automatically open instead of the carousel.
My guess is : The system needs to receive your choice because all cards are blank before you choose, and it will decide which card to give you based on probability at the moment you choose. So it seems that the probability of all five cards is 20%, but it doesn’t feel like it.
Another thing is that if you open 10 packs at once, you don't event get the carousel option. If there was some advantage to picking a certain pack in the carousel then why would the devs make pulling 10 disadvantageous?
The same with wonder pick, they shuffle but your choices doesn't matter. If you see a load bar when choosing something it means you didn't choose randomly the game pick it for you.
Just so everybody knows, it is litterally written that every pack is "the same". If, before you open a pack, you click the button at the bottom left of the screen to see the chances of obtaining each card, then click on the button on the right, they wrote that the cards are chosen after you clicked on the booster.
Do you believe this is clear enough to warrant the carousel feature to give the visual appearance of having a choice when you have to look up the odds and then have to look up that information seperately? I know neither of us read the entire EULA. Why give the illusion? I only say the Master Duel pulling is different because it is clear you do not choose 10 packs, you just get 10 packs and the visual flair is activated by clicking, not chosen by clicking.
@ZekeTheThunderWolf Saying that giving the illusion of choice is a bad thing is simply wrong. This is a game, one of its objectives is to be entertaining. Clicking on "open a booster" and having the 5 cards directly shown on screen would simply be less funny than having a little (fun or not, but there is a button to skip it anyway if you don't like it) choice before just makes it better.
@@pierresonne8192 As long as they keep options for the sake of ultimately vain flair out of my story driven games, the artstyle isn't inherently bad for packs, but keep an eye out. I may not care that all the shapes fit in the bucket by removing the lid, but I do care if my choices are moot in story-driven videogames that emphasize decisions having an effect on the story.
Yeah. They do that in every gatcha game ever to prevent you to reroll the pack. And the wonder pick is there for you to have a 1 in 5 chance to get a card you want instead of the tiny chance you have to get it in a pack. This only bothers people who need to feel in control of what it's inside of the pack and either way you aren't in control. You can't control a random event no matter when it's determined.
There's a loading icon whenever the game pings the server, so the results of the pack not mattering (since loading happens when you click open, and no loading when you select the pack) and the wonderpick choice mattering (loading seen after selecting) could also be determined just by that without external tools.
How? You’re still getting a random pack and u can only select one of them anyways. It’s be an issue if u could “re-roll” or some how open 2-5 packs at once- but the pack is still random and it’s a 1:1 scale of randomness
idk but i actually feel relieved because i don't need to feel any regret choosing a pack that does not have a hit, knowing all of the packs has the same cards 😂😂
That was somehow noticeable, as when you open a pack, you can use the "skip" button on bottom right to skip the carousel. Why they let you skip the animation carousel without choosing a pack? Because it's all chosen already
Thanks a lot Dkayed got some whale friends now. Love the website. Also for clarifying that your cards are pre determined. So im guessing it’s the same for when you open 10x at a time.
I feel much better that the carousel packs are all the same. Every time I go to open a carousel and it's not a god pack. I feel like there could have been one there knowing that they are all the same. Gives me the peace of mind. Now only if Wonder pick work the same 😢
So they create the thrill of making you feel like you made such a great pick… so they can give you a boosted rush when you get something good which increases your desire to play more so you can get “lucky” again… they didn’t even need to do that for people to play… BUT I guess whatever it takes for them to create player retention 🤷🏾♂️
@Paulxl exactly. I don't understand why people are trying to make it sound so nefarious lol. Like this fucking video. He chooses to use the word "rigged" when that's a bit disingenuous.
It makes sense because else it would screw with the odds that must be legally binding. If it is additionally a 1/10 chance to pick a pack, it would screw with the legal chances
It's the concept of "the illusion of choice". It's present in a LOT of games (like every time you pick a dialogue option that doesn't actually matter in any game), and this is just one more form of it. The end goal is just to make the player feel entertained and engaged, and it's certainly working when people start going crazy with theories about bent packs and what not.
Do you really prefer that having privilege knowledge would give you an advantage over other players, instead of a truly random pick? I like that everyone has the same chance to get any cards.
I think the argument for the wonder pack comparison to the carousel is dumb, cause like, you can't watch where the cards go anyways so the effect is the same. It's completely random so even if it was predetermined nothing would change.
This is both relieving and annoying. I just pick anything now and hope for the best, but also hate the loss of choice. I know this might not make sense to everyone, but it would be nice to have at some options. It does make sense because it makes players spend $ to actually pull good stuff instead of staying f2p.
My problem is that, regardless of intention, there is a bit of wonder in the system when you aren't trying to prove this kind of thing. It's pretty obvious, but it was fun rotating the wheel anyways. People might feel mislead, but if we are just getting the pack one way or the other in a game this focused on collecting, I prefer to enjoy the playground antics. I think the interface itself is really cool. Aesthetically it made opening packs really fun. Especially coming from another mobile card game like this, TCG Pocket does a lot of things right. It is just draining treating it like a gacha game all the time. Rerolling accounts, the first month of the game being a content creator dominated space, etc. we do this for every game, but at the end of the day I would prefer to just enjoy what the game is. I think specifically for this franchise, the more whimsical the experience the better. I like the alternative you provided on if a ritual is needed. We still don't know what the cards are. Could just spin the wheel for good luck anyways. To me there's no difference between the hundreds of videos reporting on the bent packs, and just general tourney play for this game. It's all just content. I doubt they are gonna pay attention to any of this discourse, but maybe down the line something will be done in favor of the players. I also need one more Venu EX. Good luck.
I personally never rerolled once in this game, I think it's that type of game where rerolling actually reduces your fun and worsen the experience. I currently have a perfectly built mewtwo deck and I have found cards like the immersive charizard EX and a goldish looking Moltres EX and techincally speaking I had a "bad start" with a lot of in game currency wasted. Don't let knowledge like the one in this video ruin your experience, I'll personally keep searching for bent packs cuz it's fun and reminds me of the feeling ya get when opening irl packs.
@@gigachad1622 same I got the Immersive Mewtwo and Mewtwo EX in just the first 24-48 hours. I'm getting lots of cool cards bit by bit. People just jump game to game, community to community, and treat every game the same and completely erase the fun of gaming.
What do you mean rigged? It's just like every other game. The moment you buy a pack the outcome is already determined and they give you the illusion of choice for fun. It's been this way in every game ever lol
Its also a newer app. It's possible that they did what they needed to to get it out there and have plans to implement the choice mattering in the future.
Ok, from the Home Screen, select a pack like you’re going to open one, click on offering rates and then attention. It explains how it works and you’d have known from the beginning it was explained to you card selection for the pack doesn’t happen until after you pick one from the carousel. This isn’t a conspiracy. It’s been there. You can spin the packs and pick a different one if it makes you brain feel better, by all means it’s amusing, but it doesn’t affect anything.
That doesn't mean it's rigged😂. It's still RNG. Why would they give you 45 whole cards you will never see when they can just give you the 5. Either way, it's a dice roll.
There might be one of two reasons the wonder pick card you chose is being sent to the server: A - It really is random and it's the way of the server knowing what card you chose and add it to the collection. or B - A card was already chosen as soon as you pay the cost and the info is sent just so the server can put said card in that position. Since there is not much data found on the workings of the wonder pick yet, it's a 50/50 chance of being any of the above situations. But looking at how packs work I'm inclined to believe B to be the more logical choice. But this is just my own opinion and theory.
Great thing that it's random/predetermined. Also would be for wonder picks. Visuals are good to make it exciting. Otherwise it invites multiple layers of variance that could undermine their promised randomness. We want it to actually be the odds that are promised. Nonsense like bent packs or backwards packs or knowing 1 of the 10 was good but you got a bad one are not good things.
As with all random gacha pulls, it's a schrodinger's box/cat. True, the data is already determined, but nobody knows what cards are drawn until its actually observed. Whether you observe the data directly from the server info, open the pack normally, or just press the skip button, you don't know until you reveal it.
I wouldn't have a problem with the second I select a wonder pick that it is predetermined at that point, it's s a simple 1 in 5 roll. My choice of card has no bearing on the outcome anyways because there's no way to track the card during the animation shuffle or use the back of the card shading in any way.
I don’t get why people would hate that? This is a good thing because that means you aren’t potentially missing out on EX or other rare cards in the packs you don’t choose. It also means you will eventually get the card you want.
Here's some definitive proof: random dudes on reddit said so. You know that guy could've just screen-recorded his opening and then made up the bullshit after for clicks, right?
Idk man this game could be a huge title but I feel like they’re missing the mark. As a huge pokemon fan myself(obv) I’m already finding myself forgetting to open my free pack.. I’ve gotten more trash packs off this app than in real life and tcg live easily. It’s disappointing.. and that’s coming from someone who’s spent more (than I feel comfortable mentioning on a random video) on real packs than anyone I know irl. They need to make the pull rates a little less whale-only friendly.
I imagine it's a long-term game like all gachas. You get roughly 70 free packs a month, plus packs from levels and events etc, so if the stats I've seen are accurate, then give it several months to a year and you're statistically likely to have hit every current card and even pull a god pack. That seems pretty ftp to me. My only gripe is that there's not a whole lot of content right now and as the next packs come out it'll make it challenging for newer, casual, and ftp players to collect every card. Btw I'm completely ftp, level 15, and already 93/93 in the first expansion and I'm 13/14 on the Lapras event (missing the 20 wins on expert). Loving the game and the pack system - I just want more content and more packs. The weight has been good enough though.
@ so true. I’m just used to being able to obtain any card I need for my deck with code card dust. I guess I’m a whale in my own way but damn I just want to play a charizard ex deck but can’t seem to pull what I need haha. Idk it’s frustrating. It’s a great distraction from the garbage world outside so I guess it’s not so bad. Peace
this is just like the carousel in cs2 , as soon as you click 'open case' your reward is predetermined but you still get shown something that leads you to believe the reward wasnt predetermined.
Yeah the game tells you it doesn't matter which pack you chose because when you skip the animation it'll select a pack for you. The actual news here is that the wonder pick is not determined when you select it. That's very surprising
Everything they’re doing seems fine. After the novelty of the carousel wore off, I was happy I could speed up the process by hitting the bottom right button and knowing it didnt matter. The real problem would be an algorithm that’s adjusted to keep people playing. “This person hasn’t played in a while and they’re back, give them a hit.”
The wonder pick likely does work exactly that way. We already know for a fact it CAN work like that because you're always going to get the full art starter on your first wonder pick
For a gatcha type game it makes sense to me. It's extra work to have all 10 be generated every time you decide to pull and the fact that when you 10 pull you dont get to select the 10 packs from multiple carousels like if you were in a card shop. Though It does make me sad that you cant have an extra change to get a god pack from getting a lucky pull and its just predetermined.

I sis this for first time yesterday and got a god pack 😅
Same, skip gang all the way
no. the crease theory is still correct but not the way you think it is. while yes, everything in this video is true and the pack content is determined right as you enter the carousel, the existence of a creased pack is still going to indicate a rare card inside one of the packs, actually all of the packs because it doesn't matter whether you pick the creased pack or a different one as they are all the same.
it doesn't really matter at the end of the day but you can, if you want, spoil yourself a little before you open the pack. I just like going through the carousel and look for a substantial crease and then if I see it I know this is going to be a good one.
Exactly. I don’t waste time looking at each pack looking irregularities.
0:57 I assumed it was just an extra animation from the start 🤔
U added nothing
@@cr_chain neither did the person who made the video, but i don't see you complaining about him.
I never thought every pack was different. There's a skip button too and it's not mentioned that every pack is different anywhere
As a game dev myself, rng is rng regardless of your "ritual". And of course the carousel is all the same pack, whats the point in sending the data for 50 cards when the player will only ever see 5. Thats a waste of data, and not optimal.
Effectively correct, but then why have a spinner anyways. People like feeling a sense of influence.
@@BigBo-Peep That sense of influence is the point lol
@@BigBo-PeepIt's a fun way to open a pack, also there is literally a lot of games that do this that gives people the illusion that they have a lot more influence than they have so it's not really an uncommon thing
Clearly your ritual doesn't work, try adding more lamb blood and a couple more chaotic chants
The ritual is a gambling addict thing 😆. Non gamblers don't do that.
@@fluidwolfhow would that fix anything. You'd basically be sending the same request to randomly pick 5 cards

@nicolalama2562 I've been rerolling accounts since the game came out, i never saw text specifically saying the packs on the carousel is distinct from each other, could you tell me more about what you're referring to?
Here's what I found in the Attention tab in the Offering Rates:
Step 1: Pack Selection
Step 2: Card Selection
About step 1: Pack Selection
Pack selection is the first selection process that is carried out.
In pack selection, a pack to be opened will be selected so that step 2, card selection, can occur. Please see the Offering Rates tab to confirm the category names and offering rates of packs that are generated.
About step 2: Card Selection
After the pack to be opened is decided in step 1, pack selection, step 2, card selection, is carried out. In card selection, the cards that are actually generated will be selected.
**The categories of cards offered and the offering rates differ for each pack. For example, if a "regular" pack is selected, cards will be generated as displayed in the categories and offering rates for "regular packs." If a
"rare" pack is selected, cards will be generated as displayed in the categories and offering rates for "rare
packs."**
I guess this is what op was referring to?

@@finnsterrzz oh ok.
Exactly!
People are just weird asf, Really weird!!!
It's literally just a game, It's all RNG
How is it rigged?😂😂😂😂😂😂
Weirdos honest
Kinda to me. I always thought there are different cards on each pack so I thought "What if I generated a god pack and miss it?" So I always do 10x pull which is hard to save up as an f2p. Now I can just do 1 pull without worries😅.
It definetly does matter, if somebody hands you 10 packs the chance for one of them (or two or three) containing rarer cards is slightly higher compared to only one pack. If you would pick the right pack out of 10 is again chance but you have a 1:10 chance to pick the right one of a slightly increased chance.
It makes a difference. Why do you think they added the carrusel in the first place? That shit is useless now.
They should remove the wheel. It makes no sense to deceive the players if it does not matter. Just go straight to the opening of the pack.
Illusion of choice 😅
I'm pretty sure it's there for future expansions
It generates buzz, and buzz is money when we're talking about gatcha
They should also remove the need to open the cards. There is no mystery anymore, my friends already saw my roll, just show me the cards!
It's just for fun visual if anyone wants it, like pull ritual/theory or something, it's fun for some people. I personally skip those anyway
I closed my pokemon app in the carousal page and when i came back, the app said the cards were saved without opening anything.
I am glad that the pack choice doesn't actually matter, because my lizard brain kept wanting to try and draw a pattern based on the "vibrating" pack. Because every so often while going through the carousel, a pack will trigger your phone's vibration function while scrolling past it.
My phone vibrates on every pack.
There is no scientific basis for macroevolution. Stop saying lizard brain, you sound like a plain ole dumb human.
Sameee! I was so bump out thinking I was making mistakes but now I know is the same thing.
Now I want to know about wonder picks haha

its not manipulative. it is even written in the details how the draws works. as soon you choose a pack to open, it will determine every singel card in it from 1 to 5 and the best chances to get a good card is at 4 and even higher on 5.
Did you even watch the video? Your choice is being used in the servers for Wonder Picks. And there is absolutely NO REASON as to why they couldn't send you 10 separate sets of data. That's super easy to implement.
This is pretty much too much unecessary data + it would be abused via network sniffing tool or similar.
ive noticed for the wonder pick if youre paying extremely close attention you can actually see where the card you want goes in the shuffle. cant say it works every time bc it goes fast and its tricky but it seems to be actually accurate shuffling
Actually if you look at the offering rates description, it explains this exactly.
“After the pack to be opened is decided in step 1, pack selection, step 2, card selection, is carried out. In card selection, the cards that are actually generated will be selected.”
People can’t read in 2024
I always flip my cards backwards before opening, and surprisingly it actually flips the card order in the pack, which is such a neat little detail
I do prefer knowing the truth of how the carrousel works, even though is a little disappointing to know that it doesnt matter which pack you choose
This makes me relieved, I always worried that I missed a good pack
This is like telling kids that Santa isnt real. We all know it’s just an animation but we do it anyway
My guess is :
The system needs to receive your choice because all cards are blank before you choose, and it will decide which card to give you based on probability at the moment you choose.
It's an art gallery identified as a card game.
but you can play...
idc if its pre determined, looking for the crinkle makes me slow down and enjoy the process more
There's a loading icon whenever the game pings the server, so the results of the pack not mattering (since loading happens when you click open, and no loading when you select the pack) and the wonderpick choice mattering (loading seen after selecting) could also be determined just by that without external tools.
Thank you, I was actually worried that I was doing it wrong by not looking for differences/irregularities in the packs on the carousel
This ruined the excitement from opening packs when I found this out trough reddit and twitter
It does ruin it 😭 like you would expect at least ONE pack have high rarity than the other 9 packs
How? You’re still getting a random pack and u can only select one of them anyways. It’s be an issue if u could “re-roll” or some how open 2-5 packs at once- but the pack is still random and it’s a 1:1 scale of randomness

Thanks a lot Dkayed got some whale friends now. Love the website. Also for clarifying that your cards are pre determined. So im guessing it’s the same for when you open 10x at a time.

Thank Dkayed! Looking forward to making my very own Sizzlepede and Cottonee deck
It makes sense because else it would screw with the odds that must be legally binding. If it is additionally a 1/10 chance to pick a pack, it would screw with the legal chances
Gacha drama has made me very jaded, this doesn't even register on the controversy scale.
A gatcha game being actually random is somehow controversial.
Thing for me is… This game is ultimately designed for children. This tactic is wrong. Another tactic to get kids to beg for their parents credit card.
Games are for everyone
I don't really mind tbh, I kind of like it better that it isn't really a "multiple" choice thing. Just means I don't over think on which I'm choosing
I’m glad I’ve skipped every pack 😂
Good luck.
i think spinning card wheel is fun
@@Yoshizuyuner its super fun. Especially compared to Duel Links where you just click buy cards and you sit in the shop overlay.

It also should be noted that switching between packs on the menu won't do anything because no info is being sent to the server.
3:47 the battle cats: let me introduce ourselves
Exactly my thoughts
I’m actually glad it’s just random. Takes the pressure off trying to pick a good one, now I can just open the first one with no stress.
I don't care what the truth is, it's always the pack to the right of the backwards one. Just like it's always bottom left on Wonder Pick.
this guy gets it
Ok, from the Home Screen, select a pack like you’re going to open one, click on offering rates and then attention.
There might be one of two reasons the wonder pick card you chose is being sent to the server:
A - It really is random and it's the way of the server knowing what card you chose and add it to the collection.
or
B - A card was already chosen as soon as you pay the cost and the info is sent just so the server can put said card in that position.
They literally have the exact same percentages on the cards. It literally has the information available to everybody.
I got 4 Charizard EX and still no Moltres EX what the heck Gia!
same here
Can’t wait for trading
I have 3 regular charizard ex and 2 immersive charizard ex and no moltres ex.
And then there's me with 0 Lapras and 14 Mankey
As with all random gacha pulls, it's a schrodinger's box/cat. True, the data is already determined, but nobody knows what cards are drawn until its actually observed. Whether you observe the data directly from the server info, open the pack normally, or just press the skip button, you don't know until you reveal it.
Every single pack is random thats what the devs told in the interview
I wouldn't have a problem with the second I select a wonder pick that it is predetermined at that point, it's s a simple 1 in 5 roll. My choice of card has no bearing on the outcome anyways because there's no way to track the card during the animation shuffle or use the back of the card shading in any way.
Idk I have used the bent pack trick and out of the last 10 or 11 packs I’ve gotten 9 ultra rares
Did you watch the video.. 😂
I don’t get why people would hate that? This is a good thing because that means you aren’t potentially missing out on EX or other rare cards in the packs you don’t choose. It also means you will eventually get the card you want.
Thanks for ruining my belief in christmas

No it doesn't.
By the time you see the 10 packs you actually already opened yours and it is just a cutscene.
They need to make the pull rates a little less whale-only friendly.
we'll have to see; they're still a very new game so things could change
if not, then oh well at least we can all move on quickly
Peace

Yeah the game tells you it doesn't matter which pack you chose because when you skip the animation it'll select a pack for you. The actual news here is that the wonder pick is not determined when you select it. That's very surprising
Im pretty sure wonder pick is rigged too. Still love the game i just wish it was more straightforward with rng
It's definitely rigged, too, but the free one is not rigged it's randomised but Definitely have pattern
Absolutely grimy to be showing additional packs when it in fact does not change what you receive.
Is it though? You are making is sound more nefarious than it actually is. It doesn't change the probability tables at all.
I actually like this, knowing that I wouldn’t have missed a rare for picking the wrong pack since it wasn’t there to begin with. Maybe that’s just me
Its obvious they give you a Skip button
I'm not surprised at all. Slot machine bonus rounds are predetermined also. Just play the game and have fun.
the fact you can skip it means that the pack picking is just a fun little feature and not there to trick you
Patch Notes:
- Removed different Bugs which lead to people having fun
The wonder pick likely does work exactly that way. We already know for a fact it CAN work like that because you're always going to get the full art starter on your first wonder pick
For a gatcha type game it makes sense to me. It's extra work to have all 10 be generated every time you decide to pull and the fact that when you 10 pull you dont get to select the 10 packs from multiple carousels like if you were in a card shop. Though It does make me sad that you cant have an extra change to get a god pack from getting a lucky pull and its just predetermined.
