I feel that the fight against Papyrus, if he were the knight, would surely be one of the most difficult in Deltarune, This is because if he thinks that he is actually the hero and we are the villains who want to take away his friends, he will put all his effort into defeating us.

Man, i'd love it if Papyrus turned out to actually be the Knight. It would add so much complexity to his character.
When you think about it, Papyrus is the only major Undertale character we don't help in any way during pacifist route. We don't know his weaknesses, his insecurities, and he's in a way, even more mysterious character than Sans. At least we know some of the Sans's background, but we have no clue what kind of past Papyrus had. Also, there's gotta be a good reason, why Toby's hiding Papyrus from us in Deltarune.
I can't imagine it just being a "funny gag", considering Papyrus is already a fan favourite character, and even Toby himself seems to be obsessed over him.

Papyrus is the character in UT that has the most dialogue. I do think he's going to have a roll in this game in some capacity, but I do not think it will be as an antagonist or a major character. We already have too many hints about where the story is going and a ton of other little subplots that similarly will probably not get much screentime and there are others that deserve it far more.
All signs point to either Kris, Alvin, Dess, or Mayor Holiday being the Knight. No other knight makes sense.
Kris is who Toby wants us to think is the knight. Despite the fandoms insistence all arguments against Kris-Knight rely on misunderstandings about the events of the story, vague dialogue, or assumptions we know are incorrect. Kris-Knight also shifts the focus from "who is the knight" to "why is the knight doing this," which is itself a far more interesting question. It also makes their other bizarre actions make sense, especially if they have knowledge of future events.
Alvin is insanely sketchy and is most likely going to be in Chapter 4's dark fountain. As a result, however, his knight candidacy chance is low. His father is more important to the plot than he is ATM due to the implications that Gerson has been in a dark fountain before.
The Holiday family is potentially linked to nearly every major conflict in the game. Rudy's incoming death, Dess' disappearance, the foreshadowing about the Mayor, and Noelle's struggle with everything is all being massively hinted at. The prophecy had banishing the "ANGEL'S HEAVEN" as the goal and Noelle has a lot of links to religious themes and figures (alongside being directly called an Angel or more specifically the "Angel with Tattered Wings.") She is also placed on a equivalent level to Kris and Susie by the intro narrator and has numerous Gaster connections. Her facing off against either her mother or long-lost sister would be great story potential.
I think the Knight will probably be resolved by chapter 5, followed by Bunker chapter 6, and then roaring/angel's heaven/another thing, maybe idk.

"Smells like bones" is such an unnecessarily menacing line here and I love it. Anyone not from Undertale would think it was implying the bones of supposed victims of the Knight, considering how antagonistic of a force he appears to be, it would be hilarious to see their reaction to everyone's favorite skelebro popping out from underneath that menacing suit of armor.
Not to mention, I like to think Papyrus either doesn't realize that this is anything more than a game, or that he genuinely thinks that he is the hero of the story. His eccentric and awkward way of talking would be the perfect way to play a game of misunderstanding between him and our heroes, and I think this theme perfectly encapsulates that, especially the use of Don't Forget and Nightmare Knight (Cucumber Quest readers would know ;] )
Papyrus unknowingly being the Red Knight would be so fascinating.

Being Papyrus, he might not even realize the Roaring is a thing.
Honestly, I think it'd be interesting if Papyrus didn't appear to have the enthusiasm and gusto in Deltarune's Light World that he had in the Underground, resulting in him using a "The Knight" persona as some sort of outlet for him to feel like he's able to truly go and be something even better, something he wishes he could be. Cool, popular, memorable... all of that of which he might not see in himself as in the light world, yet.
The result could be an exaggerated version of how he behaves in Undertale, with the flaws brought closer to the forefront to continue the trend of aspects of Dark Worlds being founded on the escapism of Lightners'; be it the oh-so familiar body of NEO that Spamton got ahold of and used against the Lancer Fan Club (or just Kris, under particular circumstances) or through the implications of parts of dialogue throughout chapters 1 and 2.
He'd be different, but still the same. Just like the other familiar faces in the Light World.
Or, in other words...
Despite everything, it'd still be Papyrus.
Chapter 3 seems a good time to give us a cameo of the knight, with a full apeaeance in the fourth, and a battle in the fifth.
The knight isn't likely to show up in Chapter 3, given that they didn't make this Fountain. Who knows, though.

@@ShadTS We'll know for sure if the chapter 3 darkners credit the fountain to Kris. In the meantime, yeah, they're still the #1 suspect simply because we know they're willing to create fountains even fully knowing about the Roaring, evidence no other character has.

I'm glad to see a Knight theme that doesn't use the Freedom motif. Seam specifically differentiates between the Knight and the unknown person who spoke with Jevil and Spamton, and Spamton confirms he knows nothing about the Knight during the Spamton Q&A. There's no connection between the secret bosses and the Knight, so it bugs me how their motif is overused in Knight themes.
I'm equally glad to see an underused motif like Papyrus' cool song, especially when it goes way harder than it needs to.

Actually all the secret bosses seem to oppose the knight likely for its anti freedom behaviours, considering the one who pulls Spamton’s strings is an it like the knight who Queen calls an it, Spamton knows of the knight according to his shop dialouge but doesn’t leak their identity out of fear of being censored, Jevil tells the lightners to stop the knight too
@@NormalOval Actually, Spamton confirmed in the sweepstakes Q&A that he doesn't know who the Knight is. In his shop, he was just trying to keep Kris talking and keep them trusting him.
Jevil knows of the Knight, but he also knows of Queen, so that's not really a concrete connection between the two: I mean, Seam's whole shtick is knowing things they shouldn't, and Jevil knows more than them.

At first, I wasn’t sold on the whole “what if Papyrus is the Knight” thing, but as time has passed, I think it would be really cool looking back.

Nightmare Knight has basically become a staple among the Fanrune community, and this adds quite a bit to it.

God I love when people bring back Nightmare Knight for their Knight theme concepts, it feels like such a fitting way for Toby to bring back the song especially since melodies from Nightmare Knight have already appeared in Deltarune's OST.

@@LmaololXdhi Not sure what you mean? Its leitmotifs haven't been used in Deltarune so far, but Toby tends to include it in nearly every project he does so I find it probably it'll be used. Personal predictions is it'll be used for a weird route Susie battle.
So I love this idea of Papyrus being the night and honestly what scares me is that Papyrus is actually strong and im pretty sure lightners when they have a stransformation when going into the dark world im pretty sure that stansformation is affected by the lightners thoughts and imagination and Papyrus has a lot of both of those so he could very well be immortal or undamage-able.
I always thought of this one part of "Chaos King", as "Delta Warriors" leitmotif. For me it sounds like "Yeah, you may be tough, but we are Delta Warriors. We have the power of Light and Prophecy on our side."
So it is nice to hear this part used here and sounding even more epic.

That can be supported by the fact that that particular leitmotif is actually from The Legend, and appears in several contexts completely unrelated to the King of Spades.

This is honestly amazing! I just don't think the beginning would be there, as it is now highly associated with the amalgamates. Other than that, I LOVE THIS! I especially love how Chaos King's version of the Castle Town and the Game Over motifs inclusion!

They saw the Knight gaze out across the barren field, with aspirations greater then the overwhelming evil and darkness that emanated from him.
Knight: Back again, hm? It would seem that you three are more determined then I had thought.
Ralsei: I'm sorry Roaring Knight, but we will not stop fighting. I ask you again to please stop this madness before it is too late.
Knight: Madness? Is it madness to see a world beyond fate? Beyond prophecy? You of all people should know something of that. For so long you have been shackled by the legend. To play a part in someone else's story. Haven't you ever wanted to live a life you wanted?
Susie: Says the guy playing the role of the villain.
Knight: I'm playing the role of the savior. With my power I can give you all a world where pre-ordained events no longer exist. I can make it so whatever action you do it would matter!
The Knight summons forth his twisted sword, a jagged, obsidian blade with black smoke leaking out of it.
Knight: I only need but break the balance that keeps this universe stagnated. With my will I can forge a better one where freedom reigns supreme; set forth on this land in a violent roar of ecstasy!
Ralsei: Please Knight you can still change-
Knight: No you can change! You can become better then a mindless servant of fate! You all can break your ties if you let this come to pass!
Susie: You're crazy! You're just gonna get everyone killed!
Knight: And since when did you start caring about everyone?! Was it when you promised it to Noelle before-
Susie: SHUT UP!
Susie fires a red buster at the Knight. He slumps over on the ground. Bit by bit, his helmet starts to crack, until it shatters completely, revealing the face of Papyrus.
Susie: The. Hell?!
Ralsei: Impossible....
Papyrus, with a snap of his fingers, forms a new helmet over his head, smiling deviously at the Delta Warriors and their shocked expressions.
Knight: A good "villain" always brings a backup.
Getting up, the Knight then slams his twisted sword into the Earth, causing a new Dark Fountain to form.
Knight: As much as I'd like to stay and boondoggle, I have a world to change! MWAH HA HA HA HAAAAA!
The Knight begins hovering up into the air, and flies away. He then returns a couple seconds right after he left, though.
Knight: HA!
He then flies away from the Delta Warriors, off to create more Dark Fountains.
Susie: He's getting away!
Ralsei: Not for long!
With a moment's concentration, Ralsei causes the ground beneath him, Susie, and Kris to crack and fly up into the air, catching up to the Knight.
Knight: So you truly can't stay away from me, huh? If I bore flesh I'd blush. Very well then...
With a swoosh of his cape, the Knight goes into his battle stance.
Knight: LET'S END THIS FEUD ONCE AND FOR ALL! MWA HA HA HA HA HAAAAA!
Just a little idea for a story that can go along with this song. It assumes a lot but I think it works as a funny little short if the Knight really does end up being Papyrus. Great music and battle screen. Keep up the great work!!!

That’s the thing the game is trying to go for too much freedom can lead to bad things, while you can make decisions, sometimes you need a restraint to make sure you don’t do something terrible, the knight is the example of taking freedom too far, thinking it will help.
@@tristarnova3454 Indeed. It's important to do what's morally right, but if you're freedom inhibits the freedoms of others, then that's a problem.
The Knight, at least in my writing, genuinely wants to help people. He wants to be a hero, but what he doesn't understand, or perhaps doesn't want to admit, is that you can't always save everyone, and sometimes you just have to faith things will work out for the better.

Oh my god. The spritework, the remix, the new lietmotifs, absolutely everything in this remix is so incredible. The idea that Papyrus is the knight, with this sick theme playing in the back with this beautiful atmosphere in the background is such an exciting idea. You did an amazing job with this whole remix!

In my AU, Papyrus is a red herring as the Knight, and I feel including his leitmotif still works for that idea.
I love how proggy this is! As someone who's into game design, my personal belief that prog rock is the perfect RPG ost genre has not yet been shaken. Thank you for continuing to prove me right!
I'm not a fan of Papyrus Knight theories, I might even go so far as to say that I hate it, but I'm not going to rant about that, in fact I want to gush about how much I love this track.
The reason I bring that up is because the use of Bonetroustle in this track is absolutely magnificent. It keeps itself out of the limelight so that the track doesn't feel like "hey remember undertale" but instead gives the knight plenty of musical identity while contrasting that with the musical identity of the heroes; and only once all that is done, there's a tiny nod back to who the knight truly is, just to keep the player grounded with that knowledge

However, the more I think about it, the more it feels like it works. Im not saying that i expect it to happen, i just kinda want it to happen more and more.
I recommend the "Knight Papyrus" video from "InsanelyADD". It sums it up pretty well (and it even has a whole new layer of stuff i never thought about)

I love that every knight fight theme is super video gamey and 'fake,'bcomapred to other themes, to show that he is merely the final boss in this story-not the true villian.
I love the menacing Papyrus knight theme. We really need a tough Papyrus. Oberon is cool but I would love Papyrus be a villainous person for once who will be a threat

this cover is amazing because it greatly respects the kirby’s dreamland 3 inspiration the original was filled with, and still sounds like it could come from a kirby game. i am biased as dreamland 3 is my second favourite entry in the kirby series, but still.
