I'm 35 years old, from England. I changed my Instagram bio to "What ever happened to real screamo? #currentlynostalgic", the algorithm must have taken note because my TH-cam started recommending me live Catalyst shows, the camera quality I thought I was watching something from 2004 and now I've watched them, it's recommending me everything else, I assume from this modern California scene. Thus, it's International and I'm glad people are still creating this kind of music. It died over night, it seems like a decade or more ago. Bands like: Orchid, Ampere, Palatka, Louise Cyphre, Danse Macabre, Zann, Daitro, June Paik, La Quiete, Catena Collapse etc. I can tell from these videos that if I went to one of these shows, I'd be considered a weird old bloke, what's that fucking grandfather doing in the corner? PS everyone hated me when I signed up to Collective-Zine forum when I was 15, that was 20 years ago. Who cares where you found it, or how much people say "lit" or "dope" these days, it's how younger people talk. Glad I found it, Cheers. This comment was so much longer than I expected.
Catalyst are actually a east coast band from new england specifically Rhode Island, the east coast scene especially Rhode Island/Western Mass have some great bands coming out too not just socal
Don’t get me wrong they’re amazing! I just don’t understand the band breaking up when they’re literally selling out shows and have a fan base by now and can fill up wherever they play. Most bands are dying and wishing for that. Idk but whatever they do in the future I hope they will still have the support from the fans!
embrace new people. I only found skramz like a year ago through seeing bands in the scene and now I love it. Ive met great people and found great music through this. Gatekeeping to any standard prevents growth and the forging of community
Yo i waa chewin tf out of my gum my bad😭 but thanks for having me apart of this you guys are killin it.
