  • I wire up spotlights on the Africa Twin. I use Stedi 25W LED spotlights, The OEM switch and a pilot LED to illuminate the rear of the switch.

    A proper job and great reference for those wanting to replicate the OEM lights. Strange how you can only use the spots on high beam, meaning they can't really be used as running lights - or fog lights for that matter, as high beam in the fog is useless.

      I'll be using them as spotlights. Due to the laws here, spotlights can only operate while highbeam is on. So making them operate separately is illegal. I had this issue on my KLR when it had its inspection before sale. They were switched on their own.

    Nice video with some great info! I appreciate you putting the time and effort into posting this. As soon as I get my brackets I'll be mounting some Baja Designs Squadron Pro's to my 2018 AT. But I'll be connecting them to my Neutrino Aurora Plus, so no relay needed and it will give me a little more control.

    Hello
    I loved the work you did.
    could you tell me how can i do the same but without turning on the high beam?
    that is, being able to switch on and off whenever you need without having to log in the maximum.
    independent firaria.
    what is the difference in the wiring diagram.
    thanks

    Great job, mate!
    Question: how would you wire the fog lights so the dash indicator along with the LED lights up when the fog lights are activated without having to activate the high beam simultaneously? Because there are times when I want the fog lights on without the highbeam but would like the indicator on the dash to show fog lights are on.
    Also, are those the SW Motech fog light bracket on the crash bars?

    • @BJK1987AU
      @BJK1987AU  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best way would be to use the switched power wire on the 4 pin plug behind the dash. That's the OEM Red-Yellow wire. You'd connect this wire to the LED positive and the switch which leads to input #86 on the relay.
      The only change on my diagram would be taking the feed from the blue wire on the 4 pin connector and putting it on the red-yellow wire.
      With this writing setup. Whenever the key is turned on you'll be able to have foglights on.
      Yes they are the sw motech brackets on the sw motech bars

      I really appreciate you getting back to me and the work you've put into making this video. Thank you! Unfortunately, I'm a noob & a dumb dumb when it comes to electrical wiring, and tight on money...so a video of your wiring (switch, relay, 4 pin, etc.) would have been really helpful. When looking at your diagram the part that confuses me is how you wired the switch, relay, and LED. For example, you have the LED positive wire splitting to the OEM switch and EB blue wire. Where did you solder/posi-tap/etc. the LED pos wire to on the OEM switch? Then you have the relay wire connected to the OEM switch wire. Which OEM switch wire did you solder it to? When connecting the OEM switch to the EB, did you cut/splice the ends? If so, how did you connect it to the EB individual wires? Sorry for all the dumb questions. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Great video mate , but I'm having issues with the wiring. The White/ cream coloured plug behind the dash only has 2 wires, green and green/black. Does your plug have 4 wires in it ? I don't understand where you wire to for the dash indicator. Any help would be appreciated

    • @BJK1987AU
      @BJK1987AU  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There should be a 4 wire plug buried behind the dash. One of those wires is for the dash indicator. The other three are switched power, earth and high beam signal

      @@BJK1987AU hi, thanks for your prompt reply , my bike is a UK 2018 Adventure Sports. It turns out Honda changed the wiring and the Aux power is now wired directly into the loom. The plug is still behind dash and it has 3 wires, I believe the blue black will turn on the fog light indicator on the dash and the other 2 wires are live and earth. Honda have removed the 4th "main beam" wire on UK and European model bikes but left it on the US model, So, I'm all good now. Thanks very much. Perhaps this comment will clarify and save someone else the trouble that I've had. Lol.

      @@kirky1298 hello Kirky, i was looking at those wires today behind the dash on my 2018 uk model , ( not adventure model) and only 3 wires in the spare plug like yours. and i was looking to wire up 2 fogs and the 12v accessory socket and you say the 12v is wired into the loom , are you saying there is now a separate plug for the 12v aux power to plug into ?
      really confused cheers chris

    I will be setting up my lights pretty simple: no separate switch. Relay and fuse of course. I want to trigger my relay with high beam so that spot lights come on only with high beam. My question is where can I find a 12v positive line with oem high beam?
