Having worked for American Bridge, I knew some Ironworkers that worked on the New River project. They told me that one of the towers or a tower leg did fail and the extremely heavy cable ran into the gorge taking trees and everything in its path. Those guys had some great pictures!
Idk what this is but seeing it has helped me understand and envision how the bridge was made and designed. I love it

Not well known, but two of three cables in one of the cableways almost broke due to corrosion this would have destroyed one half of the bridge!
