Maybe you just had an unlucky flight with EasyJet, every time I've flew with them they seemed super friendly. Personally the difference between RyanAir and EasyJet is massive from my experience.
That's the trouble, these airlines are massive! I been flying regularly with Ryanair, Wizzair and Easyjet for years now and from what I noticed is that I had miserable staff on all of these airlines on at least one occasion, but it's not a regular occurrence, they might be under pressure sometimes. From my travel experience, the best staff, I had were always on Wizz air, they would always smile and everything, the worst I had was on EasyJet, the stewardess that was serving me was so miserable that she didn't even smile when I told her a joke, instead she told me of in a bad way. Same the only difference is that not I flew with Ryanair but my cousins together with their parents flew with Ryanair as they flew with Ryanair before. So all of my easy jet flys were great while the one of my family members was miserable. Even their luggage got completely destroyed xD.
The new Norwegian 787 Dreamliner is a fantastic plane! I’ve recently tried one from Spain to Norway, and I loved it haha
To be fair it's still better then a number of airlines out there! As a frequent passenger I tend to prefer travelling with either Ryanair or Wizz air, due to the fact that they fly to local airports (No transfers). Point of airline lingo: a "base" is a domicile with offices and managers for flight and cabin crews. A "destination" is a city that the airline serves. You refer to each airline's bases when the you should be calling them destinations or cities served. I completely agree with your assessment of the "winner." You're totally right that the fees on top of fees and more fees is annoying to say the least. Thanks for your comprehensive overview of these European LCCs.
The problem with Europe is their is too many low-cost airlines to compare! Ryanair, easyJet, Vueling, Norwegian, Jet2, WizzAir, Transavia, Flybe, Iberia Express, TUIfly, airBaltic, WOW Air and Eurowings. Though I've probably missed some.
And it depends on country which you should compare. Here in Ukraine Wizzair is the biggest and Ryanair has just entered (actually not yet, they will fly from September), also Italian Ernest airlines for Italy solely, Aegean for Greece. And for far destinations and most Western Europe it’s quite reasonable to have a change in Poland or Germany, as Wizzair flies only to Germany and UK considering west from Ukraine.
I have travelled all over Europe with ryanair and can’t thank them enough for forcing prices down across the sector. The seats are not great and as I am wheat free I can barely eat anything but I’m happy to endure this for the possibility of being able to travel at a cost that I can afford. Norwegian are a lovely airline to travel with but their prices are starting to creep up, I really hope we don’t see them disappear sometime soon.
Thank you as always for this comparison. I flew RyanAir 1st time end Nov-Dec. 4 flights return, to 2 destinations in 7 days. I have to say my experience of RyanAir has trumped EasyJet (long time flyer with Easyjet). Yes it is more chaotic, yet half the time you pay priority boarding with Easyjet and like Ryanair it simply is not enforced. Though with Ryanair you get a great carry on luggage alowance., and if you pay priority boarding your larger carry-on is guaranteed on the plane. Makes de-boarding, customs and airport exit at least 15 mins quicker.
Nice video, but just have to add one thing, Ryanair almost always goes to airports that are far from the city, but Easy Jet is flying to many main airports.
I flew with Ryanair this morning and it was a mixed experience, flown with them multiple times yet this was surprising. Firstly the new cabin had thinner, more comfy seats with more leg room, felt like a new plane. But they’ve installed this ridiculous policy where suitcases, which you are normally allowed to take on the cabin, now go in the hold (unless you want to pay £10!) which means more hassle once you land gathering baggage. Also we fly as a family and when Ryanair randomly allocate seats, we’re all over the place and have to pay to get one of us closer. Quite frankly you get what you pay for but they’re just trying to squeeze every penny once you reach the airport, which is how they make money. Can’t fault them for that really
We fly to Spain from the UK every few weeks and to be honest, we’ve never had any MAJOR issues with any of them in the past 2 years, usually once you’re in your seat it’s sorta hassle free
May be your suitcase is a little bit larger than their allowed suitcase? Or was it a tiny suitcase, and they took on hold each and every suitcase? If I understand correct 'putting on hold' means that they took your suitcase in a regular luggage compartment - if they did not charge you for doing that didn't it make your flight more comfortable? Thank you
hyperborean72 The suitcases were the correct size - it is the size appropriate to go in the overhead lockers. They took those types of bags off of everyone - unless you paid £5 - and put them in the hold under the plane. This added hassle to us because we had to wait for an hour for our bags when we didn’t plan to, most people who travel short, cheap flights want to take there baggage on the plane in small bags, so they can leave the airport quickly - with the new policy we can’t. Sorry if it was unclear
I'll explain why Ryanair changed the bag policy. Before January 2018, you could take 2 bags with you: a cabin bag and a personal bag such as handbag, backpack, etc. While the cabin bag had to go to the compartment, the personal bag HAD to be stowed under the seat. However, the passengers weren't doing this. They would stow everything inside the compartment, taking all the space for big bags and while still in the middle of the boarding there was no more space and if you asked them to remove a small bag or a jacket they would become aggressive. Also, they were bringing more bags that they were allowed (I once had a passenger with 4 bags and a family of 3 that filled a whole compartment) and if the cabin crew said something, they would start a commotion. Flights were getting delayed, slots lost and reports were being filled everyday just because people can't respect the rules of the airline. Before January 2018, there were days were I had to tag up to 60 bags and being hours delayed because we lost our slot thanks to people not respecting something so easy as the old bag policy. I know it's a pain in the ass, when I fly I also want my bag with me, but that was the reason they had to change policies.
Not really a fair test Ryanair, low cost budget airline who operates the 737-800 and 737MAX Easyjet, airline that only flies short haul in Europe and operates the a320, a319 and a320NEO Norwegian, low cost airline that flies all over the world, they use the 737-800, 737MAX AND 787-9
@Dantorp totally agree with @CanadianJewel. Premium economy comparison reviews would be an great addition to the already outstanding content. With Premium Economy becoming increasingly popular amonst passengers, I'm sure travelers would appreciate your professional advice on which PE products are the best!
I agree Norwegian is the best among the three. I rode on Ryanair and their bag allowances are the most intimidating. What one has to be cautious about is the small bag. One other tip that I have is for easyjet, try the 'hands-free' option. It costs about £5/€6 but if your 'big bag' is small enough to qualify as hand luggage, it helps a lot
I went with Ryanair once and will never again. I went out of the plane with extreme knee pain, unable to walk without assistance for the next hour. My back pain stayed for a week. Can’t say that about Norwegian. But I would choose EasyJet over Ryanair because I still would like to walk after flying.
I was able to get minor name changes on Ryanair for free by chatting with their customer support, I think the fee only applies to a complete name change.
Economy Week has been very interesting for me, as I am (weep! weep!) and economy traveler! I hope you will be able to do a Premium Economy comparison week at some point. Thank you for the video!
I'm actually pretty sure that Ryanair has upgraded and now have more legroom in the seats. But in saying that I'm not completely sure, it's just my experience from a few months ago that I had a lot more legroom than what I would have usually had. And as an Irish person, I'm fairly sure he didn't say Ryanair with an Irish accent. I don't know whether I'm deaf, but I'm pretty sure there was no accent change when saying Ryanair.
When I flew with easyjet I HATED IT the seats were uncomfortable, the extra carry on fees were ridiculous because they classified my lunch bag a "carry on" and when I helped my mom put luggage in the rack they told me to 'get down, it's dangerous' overall I think easyjet are not a good airline in general.
I must agree.. I've flown Ryanair about 15-20 times, and never had issues with carry on.. The one time I flew with Easyjet probably everyone's carry on was checked and anybody going over was charged extra fees for sure! Added to that are their cramped seats with 1 inch (2.5cm) less leg room to Ryanair! The seats feel cramped in everyway possible, even for me at 173cm! Maybe I shouldn't ever fly with TAP Portugal, since they go another inch shorter still!
On the news, i always get stories saying 'pilot shortage on Ryanair flights lead to dozens of flights being cancelled.' Once, at the airport, on the departure board, I noticed that all of the Ryanair flights had been delayed or cancelled . And even if there are no issues, they are usually always late and never arive on time.
Great video! One suggestion though would be to compare the actual price of the ticket! It feels like that is probably one of the most important cost categories to call out!
I'm actually quite excited for my next trip to England. My dad has lived in England the majority of his life (he now lives in Denmark with my mum, me and my brother), and we're going to England in November. usually, I just fly EasyJet (and, until recently, Ryanair), but I'm gonna fly with SAS now. Sure, that's not absolutely insane, but I'm gonna be flying on the CRJ-700 or something. And, as an avgeek, I love to fly with planes I've never flown with before.
When comparing Ryanair and Easyjet there should be one more thing to be considered: I have a backpack which is slightly over the 55cm height. Ryanair never checked that in the 20+ flights I took with them. However I've heard alot of different stories from easyjet when it comes to that, basically being that them and Wizzair are the eonly Euro lowcost carriers still checking that.
Great video! Personally I find easyJet the best, I have flown with them a lot and find their experience very good. I would not fly with Ryanair! I’d rather not fly with Norwegian because I prefer the Airbus A320 over Boeing 737. Liked! :)
Hi there Plane Dude! I don’t see how my reason is ‘retarded’. Anyway, more to the point! I have flown them, and flown non LCCs, but as we need to fly a lot these days we need affordable flights. That’s where our LCCs come in. So, as far as LCCs go, I don’t think easyJet is that bad. I always started flying with Monarch, with Airbus A320s and A321s, so that’s where I got my love for them. ;)
Easy Jet sucks, i.vee travelled with it from Milan - Madrid -Milan, the flight had problem, the toilet was broken. They didn.t serve me anything, plus they have ugliest livery
Okay that is quite unlucky. But that’s rare, more common on Ryanair. Personally I like their livery, but all to their own! Thanks too Tomáš, I agree with you! :)
Excellent comparison video! I’m curious if you are considering doing a comparison for European legacy carriers like BA, Lufthansa and KLM. The reason I ask is that I avoid budget and ULCC airlines because I’m 6’5 and I don’t normally fit, I go with the larger mainline carriers for the SeatIng space. I would be super curious about a review of premium economy and maybe a big & tall episode for people like me who are constantly struggling with finding seats that fit our bodies without paying a fortune to either upgrade to exit rows, comfort class, premium economy or business class. Thoughts? Keep up the awesome vids!
To be fair I haven’t flown BA domestic Europe routes for the concern over legroom based on what I saw on seatguru. I’m am very surprised to know that Ryan Air has more legroom, though not surprised in some regards based on my experience flying internationally with BA. Specifically the 787, it was horrible.
I'm also 6'5 but I guess it just depends on how much you want to spend. Here in the states if you fly the budget airlines you also need to pay for every little thing the exception being Southwest. When I go to Europe the only thing that bothers me is that sometimes an airport Ryanair flys into is MILES away from the city. The lower price on the European budget carriers lets me spend more on my experience so for that I don't mind dealing with it. Actually last year i was stuck middle seat on a flight from Madrid to Rome and my knee broke the armrest made the flight more comfortable but needless to say the flight attendants weren't happy.
I once flew with Ryanair , and the take off was crazy idk if that's s common thing in Ryanair but the pilot just pulled the flying stick like he was flying fighter jet ,but I really enjoyed it
The fees are also highly different based on the county the ticket is purchased in (travel originates from). In answer to your question about Ryan-air change fees, they put in a specific wording that is easily missed if you aren't looking for it. It says "Fees from" in other words that is the lowest the cost to change a flight is that "processing fee" IE: the different in fare is added to the cost, it's just a creative way of saying it. What suprised me is Ryanair charges 25 euro to reissue a boarding card, if you misplace it after you initially booked your ticket and another 55 euro to checkin at the airport. Easyjet had no fee for either of these. Name corrections/changes was another area Ryanair charges 115euro at the time of the booking or 160euro anytime after without regard for a simple correction or a change of passenger. EasyJet minor name corrections like changing Dan to Daniel to match a passport are free, but a name change to a different individual was 25-50GP online depending on it being 60 days in advance of flight date or not. easy jet also let you take a earlier flight on the same day they allowed it for 30GP at time of online checkin.
Great video overview! By chance have you done a video overview on AirBnB in Europe? Also, what is the brand of the bag you showed at the end of the video? Thanks!
From my experience I tend to avoid EasyJet, I travel regularly and I always seemed to have a worse experience with EasyJet, their aircraft tend to be slightly older then Ryanair and Wizzair (Details available on Planespotters.net) To be fair you can see the wear on some EasyJet planes. The point that I'm trying to make is that at the end of the day, these airlines are massive meaning that it's easy to just get unlucky with service level and the quality of the aircraft. I seemed to be unlucky with EasyJet on a few occasions but there you go
In Europe you fly mostly 1.5-2 hours. You don’t really need much comfort for this short amount of time.Thats why Ryanair is such a giant with 100 man passsngers a year.Simply ticket price is a factor.Thay fly everywhere. In Europe airports are every 100 miles with Ryanair flights
Pretty loyal Norwegian passenger checking in, and yeah I have tried Ryan air on 4 flights and EasyJet on 3. And honestly none of the 2 are that good. Norwegian is great though massive difference!
I’ve never had to pay a check- in fee with Ryanair, and I’ve flown with them numerous times. I like flying with Ryanair because tickets are as cheap as €10 and you get a personal bag (backpack) and a small carry on suitcase, which is great for small trips I sound like I’m advertising for them lol
If you compare them on the London-Copenhagen route you should also include comparing transfer costs/times to the certain airports from Central London as all three airlines fly to and from different airports.
I was flying with Norwegian a lot and they are very good at almost everything. Nice crew and once one granny started to choke (almost died) and crew made everything to save her, excellent crew... :)
I make quite a few short journeys (1hr) to Edinburgh every couple of months and always go with Easyjet. They are reasonably cheap and I have even messed up booking the wrong dates and putting myself as a Miss instead of Mr in the same booking. They changed the dates and title for free within the 24 hrs and even waived the fare difference which was £10. I think the change of dates and fare difference may of been discretionary but most people have got it done even if it is not their formal policy to do so.
Norwegian is actually really good for being low cost

We fly to Spain from the UK every few weeks and to be honest, we’ve never had any MAJOR issues with any of them in the past 2 years, usually once you’re in your seat it’s sorta hassle free
amypom123 - I believe they could be way less scrupulous in doing so.
So many memories on east jet anticipating the holiday playing cards on the plane. I want that for my kids.
Not really a fair test
Ryanair, low cost budget airline who operates the 737-800 and 737MAX
Easyjet, airline that only flies short haul in Europe and operates the a320, a319 and a320NEO
Norwegian, low cost airline that flies all over the world, they use the 737-800, 737MAX AND 787-9
Ryanair dosent have 737MAX yet
Norwegian was great when I flew with them. I enjoyed their services. Great for a low cost
Can’t wait for the next one!! :-)
Thank you for these precious information :)
@Dantorp totally agree with @CanadianJewel. Premium economy comparison reviews would be an great addition to the already outstanding content. With Premium Economy becoming increasingly popular amonst passengers, I'm sure travelers would appreciate your professional advice on which PE products are the best!
2 hours flying with Ryanair its olay but longer then 4 hours is really terrible 😅
I'm going on a 4 hour flight on ryanair in 1 week :/
@@bloom520 I'm going in summer for 3 hours
@@bloom520 have a nice butter landing !
Five econo flights in one day is just kooky. Great vid!
Why you skipped Wizz?
Who would get on a plane called Wizz, no one unless you going somewhere nobody wants to go to
Yeah they are a shit airline which no one cares about
Sean Bruce wizz isn’t a plane
The Three Musketeers a airline
@sean Bruce you mean like LTN? :')
I was able to get minor name changes on Ryanair for free by chatting with their customer support, I think the fee only applies to a complete name change.
The only TH-camr who does this! Please compare turkish airlines vs Swiss vs lufthansa
Now they have much thinner seats and no longer have the yellow that always made me feel sick
Ah okay, the thinner seats must explain the increased legroom. And same here, that yellow always made me feel ill on flights.
Great review i like small print issues pointed out in the end.
My favorite budget airlines in Europe
1. Norwegian
2. EasyJet
3. Veuling
4. Wizz
Ryanair is OK but I don't really want to fly with them
Liam Singleton same, ryanair just don’t appear to me
When I flew with easyjet I HATED IT the seats were uncomfortable, the extra carry on fees were ridiculous because they classified my lunch bag a "carry on" and when I helped my mom put luggage in the rack they told me to 'get down, it's dangerous' overall I think easyjet are not a good airline in general.
Everybody, has its opinions, but I think, Ryanair is worse than Easy Jet
Excellent!! Thanks Dan!!
Like your economyclass week. This year I Am gonna fly a lot. I learned a lot. Thanks Daniel. Greets Dion.
I think Ryanair’s leather seats (I think it’s leather) is quite good looks comfortable.
Horrible seats. Feels like sitting on a hard floor. I thought I was going to get DVT on a medium-haul flight.
I agree the seats are kind of comfortable
Easyjet1
Ryanair2
Great video! Very Interesting Looking forward to more! :)
Great video! One suggestion though would be to compare the actual price of the ticket! It feels like that is probably one of the most important cost categories to call out!
Good to know, keep up the good work.
Yes i from norway
HA HA! The man in the blue jacket picking up his case at 6:58 is my uncle Tom! LOL! 😅
I really liked this video! One thing I will say though is that i've had to make name corrections in the past with ryanair and wasn't charged for it.
The new easy jet a320 neos have reclining seats! Utter heaven for a twenty quid flight
Not for the person behind though given the space between seats.
I almost always fly with Norwegian because it’s one of three airlines that come to my city. And it’s cheaper than the others.
I'm going on a Norwegian 787 and so far the way here on it aas AMAZING
Norwegian has to be the best on this list, BTW i am from Norway.
The Forest Gaming I’m sorry, but you’re literally just announcing why your opinion should be disregarded.
I always started flying with Monarch, with Airbus A320s and A321s, so that’s where I got my love for them. ;)
I am have same experience and preferably fly with easyjet. Muche better staff and difference in aircraft Boeing vs Airbus its mind-blowing for 6'3"
Easy Jet sucks, i.vee travelled with it from Milan - Madrid -Milan, the flight had problem, the toilet was broken.
CanadianJewel I’m the same height. I think this is a great idea!
Believe it or not but Ryanair has more legroom than British Airways!
Spoiler Alert: BA get's last place because it sucks.
I once flew with Ryanair , and the take off was crazy idk if that's s common thing in Ryanair but the pilot just pulled the flying stick like he was flying fighter jet ,but I really enjoyed it
Next time put Wizzair in the list 2, they are pretty nice and cheap :)
I really want you to do a Jetblue vs BA (British Airways) review on both business (mint on Jetblue) and economy on the New York to London route.
We’re waiting for Eurowings/Germanwings 🙈
Our flight from NYC to Amsterdam didn't arrived and didn't left in Amsterdam and we never knew they didn't told us not even an email or call
Daniel, nice review as always. Loved your bag; is it possible to buy it online? Safe flights.
Thanks Paulo! The link is in the description :)
Happy to learn about Norwegian. I looked them up and they have a Chicago to London flight starting at $360.
Great video overview! By chance have you done a video overview on AirBnB in Europe? Also, what is the brand of the bag you showed at the end of the video? Thanks!
I haven't yet experienced Norwegian, but would easily have chosen EasyJet over Ryanair - glad you agree (even if a little reluctantly)
Norwegian is the actual best as the overall is best
Can you do a comparison for the European (BA vs Lufthansa vs Air France vs KLM) and American legacy carriers?
Pretty loyal Norwegian passenger checking in, and yeah I have tried Ryan air on 4 flights and EasyJet on 3. And honestly none of the 2 are that good. Norwegian is great though massive difference!
I love easyjet
What with Wizzair?
Easyjet all way.
I’ve never had to pay a check- in fee with Ryanair, and I’ve flown with them numerous times.
I like flying with Ryanair because tickets are as cheap as €10 and you get a personal bag (backpack) and a small carry on suitcase, which is great for small trips
I sound like I’m advertising for them lol
I went on easy jet a couple of month ago and it was so good I will always go with easy jet
You missed my most important factor! The weight for hand luggage, easyJet is unlimited and Ryanair is only 10kg.....
Richard Gunther agree this is a major plus , also you are allowed a bigger bag on easyJet than Ryanair . Don’t know how he missed that.
If you compare them on the London-Copenhagen route you should also include comparing transfer costs/times to the certain airports from Central London as all three airlines fly to and from different airports.
That's very helpful!!
Ryanair and easyJet are great value for money. Love them both.
SAS Plus, short/medium haul review please. Keep it up man.
Will we see a SAS Business review soon? Saw your Instagram story with you in a SAS Business cabin fairly recently. 😍
Also curious about your Heathrow locked in experience 🤣
