Darrell where have you been all of my golfing life? I’m 78 yrs. old and wish I would have discovered you many years ago. Thanks for your wonderful teaching techniques.
Love your work Darrel. Forget the haters. I still reckon your collar bone drill is the number one tip I give to any one learning and still say to my self on every shot. Turn, turn. Arms only go up and down. Your turn brings the club to the ball. If you get this you will play good golf. It really is that simple
Thank you so much! after year of watching videos and talking to buddies, I can honestly say i now can hit the ball with good speed. I didn't know how others made it look so easy and for me I felt so locked up. the way you explain things is brilliant and simple!
The secret Brian is in his grip. How he puts his hands on the club. Once I figured it out, my game changed overnight. Yes you have to practice, like anything else.
I hope you will take a moment to comment on what I am about to ask/say. ( I am 6 feet 2 and 350 #) I am in total agreement that the weight needs to centered over the arch's. But if I heard you correctly, you said that with a vertical shin bone and no big bend/flex in the knee, that the this moves the hip joint back. I find that when I stand like this it is comfortable, but my hip joint is now directly over the back of my heal. Now when I make my back turn, the weight of my arms and club moving from the front to somewhere around or beyond the toe line, this transfer of weight causes me to lose my balance falling backwards if my body makes no other adjustment. If my body does adjust, it causes my hips to move forward to compensate, which then I as I move the club back to impact has me again off balance with my hips forward - all of this prevents me from doing a proper weight shift to the left foot at impact. etc etc etc... Now contrary to the fella who said you went into too much detail, I would like more detail so I can understand better your understanding of proper balance. shouldn't the hip joint also be directly over the arches to maintain balance throughout the swing???? - Thank you very much for posting the video and taking your time!
Very interresting Mr Klassen, and make a lot of of sence. It feels very natural when testing it ( as it is late evening, only tested in my living room for now..) But how will it work on the shorter clubs ? Regards
Yes,the weight must be in the arches of the feet. This is the great fundamental that is never talked about. This is why Darrell is tops. I’ve tried hard to get Tiger to go to Darrell. If Tiger would go,he would win everything. There really aren’t many great golfers around today. If I had known Darrell when I was a teenager then I would beat all of these golfers today. What helps the modern golf professional is better equipment and easy manicured courses. Let’s face it there really aren’t any great putters around today. Horton Smith would laugh at modern putting and all of the silly grips.
BINGO! Staying more erect (not poking your butt out, not bending your knees 6”) absolutely *requires* standing closer in on the ball to physically reach it with an easy swing!! Which, for me was a literal game-changer. I’m 6’-2” tall and use a $200 box ‘o clubs, so I’m damn near scalping my toes when I swing... but man, it’s a beautiful, pain-free swing. I think I’ll try club extensions to move the ball out a smidge, without having to change my posture or swing. I’ll report back.
Five years of “athletic” stance and many thousands of long iron toe strikes later , I only recently got off my toes … night and day . Wish I had of seen this sooner .
Poor Darrell is so overweight he can't get his breath properly while talking and is a heart attack waiting to happen which for his sake I hope it does not.
Yes I know Brian but he has taken advantage of the fact for the size he is. The thing that gets me though is that he never ever shows you a down the line view of any shots that he takes as any decent teacher would do. I had lived in Canada for over 30 years and always watched the American golf tournaments and no one has ever heard of him so how he makes the claim he was a tour plaster is bogus. He's just after selling dvd's with his jibber jabber talk. Cheers.
Robert Bernard. You have not paid attention to what Darrell has said. At no time has he ever claimed that he was a tour player. What he says is that he used to play golf at tour level, viz he was capable of shooting sub par rounds on a regular basis. You've also missed the fact that he says he has been TEACHING golf for over 50 years. He's now in his 70's, so that means he started teaching in his 20's. To summarise Darrell has ALWAYS stated that he played at tour level, NOT ON TOUR. So the only thing bogus is your incorrect iinterpretation of what Darrell has been saying about his playing ability when he was younger.
This is "GENIUS" Darrell! Thank you!!!!

Great video thanks for sharing your time. God bless you
I agree with everything you said i have one question if you are a senior golfer should you allow left heel to rise in backswing.S/J

Rooster: One half inch over "standard" is probably plenty. It doesn't take much to make a huge difference, yet not get too heavy or uncomfortable.

Poor Darrell is so overweight he can't get his breath properly while talking and is a heart attack waiting to happen which for his sake I hope it does not.
Robert Bernard : Darrell is in his seventies. You naturally get heavier as you get older. Cheers,Dr.Brian.
