We had a problem with freezing in our well house last year. That will stop this year as we show you how to insulate a well house. We show how to hang batt insulation and utilize rigid foam insulation to keep your well tank and pipes warm in the winter.
More importantly we seal our well house from air entrance and penetration. This is a huge factor in heat loss in a structure and can easily be remedied with some Great Stuff and caulk.
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to come see us on:

Spray Jones says 2 inch of closed cell foam will reduce 86% of heat transmission and using 1" more only increases that to 91%. Spray is the best, keeps moisture from between metal panel and air to non existent and greatly strengthen the building but 2" foam board should be fine in the pump house and maybe just around the well area and and tank inside the pump house as a cube shape. I just ordered from amazon for $110 a wireless temperature panel with 5 probes. links over wifi if you got it. Gonna put them under my mobile home and pump house and else where. Using fiberglass bat insulation might not be the best choice. you are probably going to get critters and bugs making nests in there. Spray foam or rigid board insulation would work better..

I'm a bit confused and perhaps I missed it, but I don't see a heat source. Insulation serves to impede heat transfer so it will, perhaps, protect your plumbing for a period of time, preventing the cold from transferring into the building. But, over time the inside temperature will seek equilibrium with the outside temperature and insulation will not help your system from freezing. You need a heat source in the building. Even a 100 Watt lightbulb would be sufficient.

That was not what the video is about. Ambient air temp can be held above freezing with sufficient insulation if the time period of external low temps is not too long. I do have a single light bulb as a heat source.

@@CountryLivingExperience You missed my comment. I said that ambient temps will decrease slower with insulation. So, in effect, I said the same thing you just said. Depending on the temps, you may have a few days to a couple of hours.

@@chucklynch8397 I'm pretty sure he addressed your comment Chuck, not missed it. Very clearly stated this video was about the insulation component, not the heat source. Correctly stated that insulation will buy sufficient time even without heat source in many cases (which is probably 99.9% of the time in Texas). Then stated that he already thought of the light bulb and has one in his setup...

Where can I buy a well tank insulation blanket?

I could not find anything on Amazon. You may be able to find one at tractor supply. You can really wrap them with anything though. A moving blanket, some bubble wrap, etc.
