    I love motorbikes. I have always hung shit on scooters but limited leg bend and an ageing body has forced a re-think. Now, after 28 motorbikes and countless Tmax reviews, there is a 2022 Tmax techmax in the garage. Never thought I'd say this, but I really like it! The Tmax is truly a revelation. I am more than happy with it and do not regret my decision for a minute.

      I know - i regret selling my 530. It was the most comfortable touring "bike" ever and on mountain passes it easily kept up with far faster bikes

    Purchased a 2021 T Max after watching your last review on the 2021 model. Just preparing to go on Sunday to the Highlands of Scotland touring on it. I’ve ridden many different bikes over the years but this really puts a smile on my face. Low speed or higher it just does the job with comfort. Even my wife wants to tour around Europe next year on it so that’s saying something. Compared to some of the bigger new touring bikes 12k for this is a bargain. Great review Mark.

    Almost certain that I will be getting one of these for my next bike. I will be in the market in about 18 months time for a new bike and this is the top of my list at the moment. I have the honda forza 350 (2021) and it really is a fantastic bike, especially for the money. but there are some areas where the honda falls down some what. especially the suspension. But the storage is amazing on the honda, but there are some things missing, like cruise control, heated grips, (the screen just isnt quite as good as it should be) and no parking brake. All of those things are addressed on the t max, and more.... cant wait to ride one....

    Hi Mark i rode that same Scooter today the vibes through my feet were terrible, the ride was harsh i was back at the shop within half hour, i hated it.
    i was so glad to get back on my vibe free plush suspended 2018 tmax and it's faster, better wind protection, and it hasn't got a joystick right next to the indicator toggle.

    I’ve had one of these in the past. It was 100% best commuter. More than quick enough more comfortable than my sketchers more practical than anything on two wheels. The list goes on I currently ride a fazer 1000 which is fantastic but I’d swap it tomorrow for one of these things. If you haven’t ridden one you just don’t know.

    I've had a 2010 (?) version for years. It doesn't look like they've changed much, but the 2022 does have some nice refinements. Of which the only one I'd actually love to have is that adjustable windscreen. I'm 5' 11" and the stock one on mine is too low to keep my eyes and ears out of the wind without ducking down. Not a big deal, but on longer rides at highway speeds, or in cool weather, I'd love to have a slightly taller windscreen. Adjustable would be even better. I think I bought mine slightly used back in 2015 for around $2500, which now seems like even more of a deal compared to the price of a new one at 5x the price, lol! I'd highly recommend any of them from 2009 up to the latest model, great scooters!

  • @timbounds7190
    @timbounds7190 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great review as always Mark. Not sure if this version is actually a significant enough upgrade over my 2017 model - its fundamentally the same, just more bells & whistles. But a new one isn't really an option anyway as there are now NO Yamaha dealers within feasible reach of me. But when I see videos like yours and ride mine, you do get tempted!

    Nice review. Glad I bought a Kymco AK550 instead. That TFT screen busy ness of info and the toggle/stick would really annoy me. Plus the colour options do not compare with my light blue AK. Power and handling very similar. More underseat storage on AK. Front of Ak isn't so angry insect like the Yammy is. Both auto bikes are comparable except AK550 is some $4500 cheaper in 2023 than the expensive T-Max in Australia.

    Great review Mark!
    Nice, but it is expensive. I rode a TMax for many years, loved the bike and the way it looked but it always hurt my coccyx so rides were limited to 30 mins or so. That seat hump was always in the wrong place for me.
    Sadly with our weather and rate of thefts, it is unlikely to be a viable car alternative in the UK and other cheaper scoots may be chosen by many.
    Negatives? As mentioned, it isn't that comfortable if you are taller due to the seat hump and is also short of power if you ride with a pillion. Why no A category licence full power version, say, 60ps? I now have a Forza 750. Miss the TMax but the Honda works better for me.
    Final point- why can't we get it in a light colour in the UK? Infuriating. Not everyone wants grey or dull petrol blue/black etc.

    How would this compare to the no longer produced Suzuki Burgman 650 - if you've ridden one of those? I used to have a 650 but stupidly sold it and really miss it now. This Yammy seems to offer a similar spec (other than not quite so much tech!). Seriously contemplating this one now! My only hesitation would be a) the price and b) the seat height and width. I was pretty much flat footed on my Burgman but don't think I would be on this - I think I really would be on tiptoes! I am also around 5ft 7 but not sure of my inside leg measurement!

    bike and TFT screen is great! I have two issues with the bike! firstly im like you 5,7in tall 29 inch leg and with thick soled riding boots still
    struggle to get my feet on the ground which is very off putting at pull ups! second question the exhaust note is great but whilst riding i find the front engine noise quiet to loud and off putting would a different exhaust cure this i wonder? what are your thoughts yours pete!

Thus the bike won't recognize the key even though you're near it. This has two purposes, 1) saves key fob battery, when the bike is gonna sit for long, 2) security, key won't unlock the bike unless you don't want it to. I firmly believe that the Tmax key fob would have the same feature.

    I'd much rather have a Honda X-ADV 750 than this. I suppose the TMax appeals to scooter riders, whereas the 750 appeals to bike riders who quite like scooters. More storage on the TMax, but it's unattractive visually by comparison. Nice handlebars, mind. One more thing: I'd rather have Honda's DCT than the constant whine of CVT.
    The usual first-class review. There is no reason to consult anyone else.

  • @anthonyrawnsley6833
    @anthonyrawnsley6833 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Something is wrong with the Tmax you are riding. On your video the rev counter is not working. I suspect foul play on the part of Yamaha...if it was working viewers would freak out at how high this machine revs - even at low speeds. This causes the the engine to whine and sound more like some Chinese125cc scooter - not at all good. I've owned and ridden a Honda Integra 670cc, a Suzuki Burgman 650, a BMW C650 GT - all purchased new and each one ridden over 20 000km (I live in Australia where weekend rides can be over 500km). Now I have the latest Tmax Techmax with all the trimmings. I have to say that I am truly very disappointed. The ride is smooth and comfortable and the technology very good. But the damn thing revs far too high for my liking. There is some vibration through the handlebars - not sufficient to make long distance riding uncomfortable, but irritating enough to slightly blur those tiny rear view mirrors. The high revving makes the thing quite thirsty and it sounds utterly crap. I am unable to compare it to the the Honda Forza 750 or the XAdv 750, as none of these are available in Australia. The only rival the Tmax now has in Australia is the Kymco AK550, which has yet to be sold here in its upgraded, more high-tech version. I have test ridden the AK 550 and engine wise it is similar to the Tmax (perhaps not quite as zippy from a standing start) but it sounds much better - more torquey and less whiney. On the open road at 115 kph the Tmax revs at around 5000rpm and it is really loud from the rider's perspective. Of course if you select so called Sport mode then all that happens is the auto gears take a little longer to shift up making it even noisier and thirstier, but with no benefit in my estimation. When you take your hand off the throttle the machine slows down really quickly - the engine seems almost to be relieved that you are no longer strangling the life out of it! It will be interesting to see if these machines turn out to be reliable. My machine will be sold if and when one of the above-mentioned Hondas becomes available in Australia.

    • @markpulling12
      @markpulling12  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Anthony I think the engine revs high when you have the throttle wide open..when you then back off say at 60 mph it settles down to a nice steady ,4 k rpm
