    Great to see these both together. I was banking on the flame variant but I don’t know if final production of it was rushed or what but that paint job just doesn’t hold a candle to the work on the blue variant even if I prefer the color scheme. Whenever you had them together my eye went instantly to the blue and I felt the flame just looked garish in comparison so I guess I’m going to wind up going with the blue variant after all that waiting

      @DinosDragons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good choice. If I had to choose one, I would go with the Blue as well. The Flame looked a lot more naturalistic in the prototype images, and yet in hand, it's still giving me a fanstastical vibe, and if so, the complexity of the Blue just wins it for me. A big plus is really how well the scale detail is brought out in the Blue as opposed to the Flame variant.

    Definitely like this one better than the blue. Still, gamba is the best

      For Gamba, I agree only in terms of the headsculpt and price. PNSO *_nailed_* the carcharodontosaurian skull but GR wins in every other aspect, at least in my opinion.

      The really cool thing is that this seems to be the Year of Carcharodontosaurus, and that means choice of aesthetic that should suit different tastes!
      There is also the 1:20 resin GR Toys Carcharodontosaurus, which had I known how the IToy Carnotaurus would turn out, I could have bought instead for half the price. That one I've seen pictures of, though there is still a fall off in paint apps, is really awesome!

    Both flame and Gamba do display a coloration that compliment the mangrove floodplains they existed in. I just did a review on Gamba, though I was disappointed by his small size when scaling him against the other large theropods.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes Gamba really seems to have been modelled on some of the smaller size estimates. Although one thing I forgot to mention in my video is that it's actually smaller than you would think because Gamba is also quite short. I wish he was bigger, just like the Torvosaurus.

    I got the flame variant, as it looked more natural, but i did notice a standing issue as mentioned in the video

      That's unfortunate! Well you could use the hair dryer method. That works quite well for me. Surprising though, HLG I believe has a harder material than PNSO.

    Which one do you prefer DD? Seems like everyone's leaning blue here. As I said though the mouth not closing does bug me quite a bit. I wonder if heating it up and then tying the mouth together to let the plastic remodel would help at all.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would go for the Blue. The Flame though very nice, is still rather fantastical, and I had hoped that based on the prototype images, it would look more natural.
      Considering how stiff this is (you can see I am applying quite some force to shut it especially in my Blue variant review) I doubt the heating method will help here. It will probably revert to its original form very quickly. This is one model that I will pose with the mouth slightly open.

  • @MrRajithasandaruwan

    Looks gorgeous just like the blue. But for me, this color scheme looks quite a bit unnatural. I can imagine a blue variant, but I can't imagine a Carcharodontosaurus with this color scheme. Figure wise this looks fantastic. The only figure that can challenge PNSO Carcharodontosaurus I guess. Nice review Sir..

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree! I forgot to mention that I thought compared to the prototype images, this wasn't as naturalistic. Which actually was a bit disappointing since I think it would be nice if GR Toys gave collectors a choice of a more natural looking animal.

    • @MrRajithasandaruwan
      @MrRajithasandaruwan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes.. since we are the once who buy and spend our money they should let us choose if they have so many variants. You gave us all a nice example for spending our money wisely with your ITOY Carnotaurus review. So I'm sure people who watch your videos learned a good lesson.

    After watching reviews for both the “Flame” and the “Blue” versions, I decided to go with the Blue. I sent for the blue but I was sent the ‘Storm” version. It displays nicely alongside my PNSO Gamba and real Carch tooth. Re the Flame, as nice as it is, I felt that it was a bit to fantastical and “giraffe-like” for my personal tastes. I think that the Blue version would be better suited to life in the coastal swamps / mangrove floodplain forests where it lived.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree. The Flame really is a piece just for colours, and a bit too flamboyant for most people's tast. I hope your copy satisfied you as far as paint apps go. Major pain in collecting these models; the later runs tend to have inferior paint jobs.
      I am curious though, what is the Storm version you refer? Last I checked there were only two, the "Flame" and "Blue" 🤔

    Great review as always! I must say that the blue looks much better overall, in paint complexity and general colour scheme

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! I actually forgot to say that I thought GR toys was going to give us something more natural, based on the prototype images, but this one is still pretty fantastical. Very tropical though, and a nice mood elevator 😁

    GR-eat review! I really like this paint but the jaw colour is even more noticeable and looks quite out of place. Not sure if we can even get GR toys here in Australia 😥

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the closest to you might be Everythingdinosaur? But I don't know if they will carry this. I believe Sugotoys is Australian? They do have the ITOY Carnotaurus so you could write them and ask if they have GR Toys, which is surely cheaper and easier for them to carry.

    it's a bit sad you didn't compared it to his commercial images because compared to the blue where it's ok for the final product, the flame version is far downgraded i though.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely forgot about that! 🤦‍♂️
      Not only the difference in complexity, but I feel that the protoype release images showed a paint application that was more earthy and naturalistic than this one. So the actual models, both are actually quite vivid, while in the concept work, the Flame version looks a lot less showy than this actual model.

    • @foxxtitan7028
      @foxxtitan7028 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DinosDragons Yep that's what I think. Unlucky for me, I was waiting for the flame vers. to be reviewed before buying it. And it's far away from my expectations.
      And well I can understand some people would less care because well, there's way worst paintjob than that (c.f. your twin carnotaurus disaster). And if you didn't look to the commercial it's not that bad.
      But for me it's a cold shower haha.

    I do prefer the blue variant however , I would have been over the moon if my PNSO pachycephalosaur came in the flame variant . Perhaps I’m in the minority but I do like the garish hues used by some manufacturers . After all they do reflect a connection with modern birds .

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I went to look at my PNSO Pachycephalosaurus and you are absolutely right. They two do pair together nicely and if there was another Pachycephalosaurus in this colour, they would look like natural variation!
      Are you familiar with Luis Rey's work? He paints dinosaurs I think you might appreciate!

  • @sayantikadar253
    @sayantikadar253 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The figure is good. But it just ain't to my taste. I find the spine position along the head and neck to be stressed. The whole animal looks to be in some form of stress and the whole body looks rigid and not in a walking aesthetic like the PNSO one. Excellent review .

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your comment! I agree that given a choice, I would prefer the PNSO. Not just the pose, but the colour as well, it's more subtle on the PNSO and looks more naturalistic.

      Be very careful with this. The complexity comes from multiple layers, and any damage may not be that easily fixed. I would not trust this to stand without any support at all.
