Oh my gosh I am so happy I found your channel! I currently go to school online at Grand Canyon University to become an LMFT but I live in New Mexico! :)
Your channel is absolutely AMAZING!!! Exactly what I needed. I live in Dubai, UAE and just enrolled in a USA university to get my bachelors in Family and marriage therapy. I’m literally soaking in everything you’re saying. Thanks again for sharing all this info so freely.🌻
Omg I’m so happy I found your channel! I’m going to start a counseling program next year...I’m debating between the LPC and LMFT track but I’m so excited to start! Your videos are super helpful to someone like me that’s interested in the field. Thank you for this! 😊
Hello! I am really loving your videos and I’m getting so much information from them. I’m literally starting my MFT program Monday. I’m so excited to start this journey, and I cannot wait to be a licensed therapist 😊.
Hey love!!! Do you have a video about the LMFt mobile license? I have a few states that I would like to eventually be licensed but I am unsure on how to do this? I am on the AAMFT site but the answer is a bit convoluted. Can you help with a video?
I just started following your account and am already loving it. I appreciate the advice and guidance that you provide, especially since some of it is focused towards students and future therapists. I want to get into a CFT program near me and love hearing from someone who has followed that path and has such great information!
Olivia, thank you so much for this sweet comment ♥️. I want the channel to be even more helpful for you, so please let me know any topics that would be useful.
Hello! I received my Master's from Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania. Currently studying for the MFT national exam that I'll be taking next week (wish me luck)! I started following you about two weeks ago and found your video covering the exam very helpful. I am currently a Case Manager at a Transitional Living Program for young adults who recently aged out of foster care or CPS care. Once I get my associate license, I am interested in working with young adults and families, in particular individuals affected by addiction.
Hi, I am Rita and I am at Capella. I will be interviewing tomorrow for my 1st internship! Excited to be nearing the end! I am open to working with all populations, but most interested in those who have experienced trauma, such as IPV, as well as doing play therapy children. Lastly, I am also interested in OBH.
hey i hope you doing well !! am an undergrad student at IIT am interested in helping counselor foster using peer support do you mind briefing about the same?
Very helpful video. Thank you !! Hey, I’m Alicia and will be starting the MFT program next week. My specialization is Military Family Therapy and I’m working with my advisor to also get a certificate in Sex Therapy. I’m uber excited to start !! Could do a video about the paperwork that’s involved. Also, if you recommend making your notes after a session as soon as the client leave or do you wait til the end of the day. Also, when in a session, your note taking. Have you changed your note taking since doing practicum and internship. With me, in general, I’ll jot quick notes but i assume in therapy you want to be as detailed as possible because you don’t want to have the client repeat themselves, and/or when the client leaves, you don’t remember certain things.
Hi Alicia! How exciting!! Yes, it has changed. When I was starting, I would do what most therapists seem to do which is to handwrite your notes and then transfer them into your agency’s system of choice. My supervisor actually recommended that I start typing them in session to lessen my workload and I checked in with my clients to see if it was distracting, and they said that it wasn’t. Just make sure you’re keeping eye contact as much as you can.
That’s interesting that you’re doing military family therapy. Are you currently enlisted or commissioned? And how did you get into the field/drawn in the field?
Kamari Gouin hey, yes I’m currently serving in the military. The Holy Spirit really led me to this field. I never once thought about this as a profession. Once I truly surrendered to Christ, studied His Word, and prayed strategically, the Holy Spirit began revealing things to me and that’s how I’m now pursuing this profession. When I look back on my life, the “signs” was there that this is my purpose, my calling. But now that I’m in my season, it’s all happening in the right time.
Hi Angelique! I work for an agency. To find a chapter, go to your state board’s website, it’s usually something like GAMFT.org or TMFT. They’ll usually have chapters listed somewhere there.
Hi my name is Curtis Bobray and I attended Capella University and received my Masters in MFT. I recently took my MFT exam and thanks to your tips I was able to go in confident. Would love to connect. Look me up on LinkedIn and/or Facebook.
