This goes to show that you don’t have a technical photographer to make it or have thousands of dollars worth of equipment. It’s all about how you capture the visual. People gravitate towards that eye. Talent wise I don’t see why people gush about the content but it is different. Salute to gunner for making it happen in his own way.
He has his own flow but the reason why so many people are shading him is because he is using cheap gimmicks by using celebrities and strong flash
You dont need crazy amount of money or camera equiment you just have to have good connections in the industry and make the best of what you have
The problem with his work is that often it seems really snap shot like and his Portraits most of the time don't include creative poses but just face shots.
Also the assumption that just because it's film it's artsy plays a big role here.
@@Kodakvision3250d pretty sure celebs like him because he DOESN'T ask them to do some corny creative poses. You could go all commercial and have perfect portraits and take some gorgeous images but when its comes to celebrities we've all seen that a million times. Also I think In general people are looking for more "feel" over something pristine hence the popularity of Film and even vinyl these days. If you're looking at the technical side than yeah it's not groundbreaking at all but the flawed personal and raw snapshot of someone loved my millions, that looks and feels like it was taken by a friend, has definitely resonated with a lot of people. I'd take a photo that impacts someone over a perfect portrait anyday.
@@Pepperendi but there is not much skill involved in this. It is a picture that a friend could have taken, that's the point.
Not saying that I don't understand why it is popular just not agreeing on him being a good artist or photographer.

Not gonna lie, the actual pics are BASURA. But to shoot hip hop, edits and specifics don’t matter. It’s about capturing time and being able to reference memories unknown to the public regarding revered* people in the limelight.

Kuna for the most part i think he shoots on a Yashica T4, you can find used ones on Ebay.

StillHdz it’s all about the connection between the “famous people” and the photographer, the vibe that can help take some really natural photos of people usually blinded by the cameras
same . when he mentioned chi modu, i know thats the style he is going for but they are way better composed etc. alos not tryna hate on em but yeah, its pretty much just bc they are a collection of artist. in one sense he put his effort n time to go out n do that for sure.but to judge them on photography alone, i agree u 100
