Switch is way more modern but the games are very expensive, the psp is old and outdated but offers some really solid games and is really easy to hack so you can download cracked games for free. Feel out what kind of games the kids play, if they like old games they will enjoy the psp.

Hollow knight, Dark Souls remastered, Cuphead if you're looking for difficult games Stardew valley is great relaxing game BOTW, TOTK, Skyrim, Witcher 3 are great open world games for exploration. The last two having great storylines. LOZ has a generic storyline that is a rehash each game very much like Mario. But they have cool dynamics in each game that makes it interesting in it's own right. If you had to pick one, pick TOTK since it is virtually the same game with minor differences It takes two, Stardew valley, and overcooked are great couch co-op games Little nightmares is awesome horror platformer perfect for October
