Hi Julie. Good job. Another told me to use the lid off Parmesan cheese container put on glass jar. Or use Parmesan cheese container. It pours and shakes out. When it’s empty.
Forever ago I had a Tupperware container for pickles but the lid was too hard to get open 🤷♀️ I love the jar upcycle with the baking soda. I never thought of that myself. Excellent ❤
Juile good morning, you did a fantastic job 👏 Next to the tall jars in the storage container you can stand your spice packages. You could also use clothes pins by hot gluing them to the inside of the cabinet door. Thought you pretty smart the way you swaped containers 👏. God bless and keep you.💜🤗🦋
For the cloves to transfer then you could cut a hole in the bottom corner but wouldn’t have made such a classy video. Looks great. Love all your Mexican spices. I have an old spice rack that came with the spices. Pretty sure they are expired but still work❤️❤️❤️
Sticker labels are nice - jar with white powder - is it baking soda - flour - powdered sugar - baking powder - corn starch . . . . you have to taste to find out.
Ow do i store spices that dont come in jars? Either in an recycled spice container of the same type or, in a repurposed food container of some type. -- I did see a clever and good looking solution on utube somewhere. The person used repurposed, green glass with metal lids, Starbucks, cold coffee beverage bottles. This said, they got some of thier bottles from others. I have a number of glass jam jars, can't remember the name, with a red and white checked metal lid; most came from friends and family, they stackwell, amd dont break easily when dropped,. I have some glass pimento, capers, and marinated artichoke hearts jars others have saved for me as well. I also have some small canning jars (4, 6, and 8oz). Most of my spices and herbs come from Winco, bulk spice bins which of course come home in a plastic bag secured by a paper covered metal tie with the bin number written on it. Since 2020, the number and varieties of glass jars available on line has soared. If you go to look, seek those designed for lotions and potions versus food storage. In about '21 I saw what I swear was the exact same thing much cheaper in the lotions and potions world than the food storage world.
I always reuse glass jars and so I always take off the old labels. TIPP work smarter not harder: Clean the glass inside the ordinary way first. Then let the glass soak in very hot water with dish soap for an hour or even longer. I prefer to use a bowl not to block my sink and don't waste too much water. If the label won't get off that way take a knife to scrape it up and use oil for removing sticky glue. I repack any dry food from plastic bags or even paper into glass jars: rice, any seasonings, salt, sugar, baking soda... You can even use glass jars for freezing! Attention: Don't fill them up to the top! Check out for details.
I like the idea of storing items in a glass jar, my only concern would be any pickle smell from the jar or lid transferred to the food/ spice inside the jar. How were you able to completely rid the jar and lid of the pickle odors? Thank you.
