Nice to see someone not being hyper critical of someone just getting into photography. I don't know if it's just me but I find that a lot of 'Photographers' are incredibly snobbish and expect you to already know what you're doing before you've even tried. I've had someone tell me that everything has already had a picture taken of it so develop your own style instead. Style? I'm just trying to learn to get proper exposure and focus on my film camera.
Not every photo has to be a work of art, I enjoyed the ones of just him and his friends out and about the most.

I’m so glad I watched this video. It had such a good vibe! Chris has a good eye and it was great to see him experimenting with composition and depth. You are right about the benefits of being new and fearless and the only tip I can give to Chris is to keep shooting as much as possible with that same fearless mentality. After all, he’s inspired me to click my shutter button more often.

It’s great that Chris showed so much interest in the 📷 and was eager to learn. I’ve passed my x100v over to friends and fam. on a number of occasions, but the lack of image stabilization is always the biggest challenge. 😮

I know sometimes the camera does over ride it, but in automatic mode I generally set the shutter speed minimum to 1/80th. That might help your stabilisation issue!

I’ve found that the cord included with cam, married up always with the apple USB>>lightning (so it’s 1 cable), is significantly easier than messing around with ejecting & inserting your SD card all the time. Just plugging in a cord seems way more straightforward for ppl.

X100V (and F) make photography super simple and intuitive. My wife is far from a photographer and gets great results when she borrows mine. She leaves it on a Portra profile and is off to the races. She has an eye for our kids that I don’t.

It's such a nice feature of the camera. When my son was being born I handed mine to a nurse and we ended up with some amazing memories of his first moments. that was worth the price of the camera alone.

If you all cannot get X100 series cameras on hands, try X-A series with Fuji 23 or 35 lens lineup (both of them had F1.4 & F2 option, usually the F2 is the more compact ones). It is maybe not as good as X100, but again you still get both main 3 component of X100: Fujifilm JPEG Engine, Fujifilm famous film simulation, and their total control of ISO, Highlight, Shadow, Color, and Noise reduction; and all of if very accessible through their famous Q button setting, which is really beginner friendly. And trust me, I use X-A1 since 2014 so I know how good the X-A lineup images result are since their 16MP era. Maybe not as sharp as the other body that use X-Trans (X-A using bayer), but it is still really good result.
Also another note why Fujifilm camera is quite good for the beginner, is due how explorative nature they give to our hand. While their menu system is not the best looking, but you can go deep & advance setting for a such beginner class camera (X-A series), and even very accessible right on Q button. I mean, I not seen those available for beginner level body from Canon, Sony, and Nikon back in X-A1 launched. Even to get 1/3 step ISO & adjust Noise Reduction, as I remember for all Canon EOS body, it is on their deep config setting, and it is not available on their 1000 series, even 700 series is still hidden deep to get that feature, while Fujifilm X-A1 give it away with a simple Q button access.

I have a Fujifilm XT4, a Fujifilm 23 mm f1.4 (35mm equivalent), and a variable ND filter. Should I in theory be able to take the exact same kind of photos as the x100v, or is there something else that makes the x100v’s images unique? I’m talking strictly in terms of image quality. I ask because I don’t want to drop another 2k+ if I don’t have to!

I have owned every model in the x100 line and have the X100V now, but this camera is no different then any other camera with a 35mm equivalent lens on it and as a matter of fact the X100 is full of limitation, I have now a Fuji XH2 40 Mp and a Fuji XE-4 with a 23mm f1.4 and they both are a better combo, plus you can change lenses if you so want to. No camera makes anyone a better photographer and in the case of the X100V it is just trendy now, so you just ridding in someone else wagon and putting more of the same stuff out there. No picture is better because it was taken with any particular camera.
