It did pass, and it was worth it I was encouraged to hear that you want to try a Christian School, I’ve been teaching in one for nearly 20 years now in the UK. The children do develop such close friendships that last for years after they have left school. We have fun times like a school Christmas dinner and trips out. We sing the catechism together Songs for Saplings and there has been so much joy as well as hard work and minor persecution keeping the requirements of the education system. ❤

I wasn’t raised that way; quite oppositely I was very fashion-oriented, lots of makeup, tight jeans, spaghetti straps, big earrings. But then I felt like that wasn’t who I was supposed to be. Even though I was a Christian, I felt a need to go deeper. I have often thought of it that way when it is hard - it is a sacrifice for Him but very worth it.

I respect yours, and other Mennonites and Amish people who choose not to vote, but at same time it tugs at my heart and brain. Both communities are growing more than their counterparts and with the way the world is changing, we really could use some more conservative traditional minded people to vote to ensure we dont get corrupt people in or to remain in power...if many of those types of people in Govt even exist any longer.

Yay!!!! Congrats!! I completely agree on the gentle parenting… I don’t believe in much physical punishment but I definitely think children need boundaries and consistency. I am torn about the voting ~ I do agree with the two Kingdom concept however God commands us to vote/choose our leaders in Deut 1:13. So, part of me feels like I am sinning/not following Gods command if I don’t vote. I wish someone anabaptist would directly explain that verse- I don’t want to not follow Gods command and I wonder how they interpret it (maybe I’m looking at the verse wrong or taking it out of context 🤷🏼♀️). Idk. It’s been a huge struggle for me the last couple years…
Sometimes I wonder if the answer is that neither option is a sin 😉 But rather personal conviction.Politics have definitely become an idol but so I’ve seen people who don’t vote, that are just as involved in world events and politics as those who do. And yet have pride in the fact that they don’t “cast a vote” 🤷🏻♀️ just interesting to see the heart being revealed in both parties. We personally don’t always vote. Just been something we pray about and if we feel led to vote we do, but don’t make a big deal over it. And sometimes we don’t feel clear on voting and that’s ok too 😊
I think it’s good to remember, when reading the Old Testament, that Israel was to be a Theocracy. God was supposed to be their ultimate authority, and when the Israelites later asked for a king (1 Samuel 8:4-9) they were rejecting His authority. When the Israelites were electing leaders in this passage in Deuteronomy, they were essentially electing leaders within God’s kingdom. Under the new covenant with Christ, the church is God’s kingdom- and we do elect leaders in our local congregations.
I wish more people did imperfect videos-I like seeing real life because its what I know-I dislike a perfect video of perfect lighting, sound etc-your in your home, so am I-----I want to see your life is kind of like mine......if only kind of.

Authoritarian parenting also has consequences when children grow up and out in the world. I think your generalization of soft parent is more of what the media tries to make it out to be rather than probably the norm of that, which would be soft but firm. I think it's also unfair to blame or make mind jumps or conclusions that everyone getting a trophy is what's made the world it is today. Parenting is hard, of course our actions to our children have consequences, but be careful of casting a rock. Congratulations on the 2nd pregnancy!
