Just finished watching this whole thing in two sittings. I am on the market for a sound producing/processing system. I have decided on the Rodecaster Pro Duo and have been debating among Telefunken, Meumann and Rode for a microphone. This video has firmed my choice of the Rode K2. To be perfectly honest, my ears have not been sufficiently trained to ascertain the nuances of the high end microphones. But after listening to lots of mic shootouts and watching factory tours of all the three manufacturers, I have come to the conclusion that the tens of thousands of dollars price tags of the vintage and modern German microphones are based on highly subjective hype, rather than any verifiable truth. It is perfectly all right for those who can feel the difference and afford the price to appreciate and buy the Neumanns and Telefunkens. But for me, after knowing the whole story inside out, the Rode K2 is the 21st century classic, second to none. Many thanks for posting this video. Great video, the only criticism is the cameraman should be focussing manually, auto-focus on DLSR's is not always reliable. Love the tour though. I use the NTR and NT1 on all of my VO work, beautiful mics, the NTG2 I have for video work in a studio setting, the Videomic X I use for location work, all awesome mics. I just need a Rode Tube mic now to complete the set.
