I suppose the scavenge line wouldn't cope with a lot of oil being so thin, interesting to see inside of one of those types of compressor!

Looked like the sealant was missing in some spots. 515 works good. Rebuilt one of these earlier this year.

bought one of these a while back with a borked shaft seal (there was a good amount of it behind the little check plug) for a small amount of money. taking the gamble it would be an easy/cheap fix. looking at this it seems like a bit more work than expected. mines an ES 6 5HH though there doesn't seem to be any difference in the manual
only thing now is getting the seal and wear ring. i'm on the wrong side of the pond so getting parts for it is a bit hard, and the lowest price i've seen is around 650 dollar, which seems a bit steep for a seal. thing is i'm in the southwest (road tripping LV, Santa fe, Moab, Zion, DV, Yosemite, SF down the coast to LA) in early/mid June. Any ideas if i can pick these parts (and any other handy ones) up along the way somewhere?

I don't see a lot of replies but I will give it a shot. Do you rebuild the air end ? I had this exact compressor completely freeze. I cannot turn it by hand. And when I opened it up and removed filter it was empty of oil and compartment was full of oil. Never rebuild a compressor before. Just truck engines. Any advice or good websites to look at?

I have rebuilt air ends before
Mostly those with angler contact bearings not tapered roller bearings , you will probably have a hard time finding a website or a TH-cam video on how to set the clearances on a tapered, roller, bearing air end, most of the air end rebuilding companies will only rebuild 100 mm and larger nothing smaller than that. on that particular machine it was very typical to exchange the airend for a rebuilt one from the factory. I know that’s not what you wanted to hear.

What would cause oil to spill out of the equipment. I found a brass like two different size hole piece.

    good day
rebuilding one from scratch, have to change all of the bearings. Wondering if there is a trick to take off the small and large gear from the shaft. this is the 3rd I'm rebuilding , but newer pulled the large gear. Any help is appreciate.

I've got an es-6 that starts and loads up to 40 amps and blows the breaker. It's been sitting for a long time. Do you think the minimum pressure valve is stuck? Nothing comes out of the outlet

How long does it run for before it trips the breaker?
