You shoul go to the other islands, specially central group 3 islands of Faial, Pico, São Jorge. Try the 10 volcanos trail in Faial and descend to the Fajãs of S Jorge

Hey, I have the same issue with plantar fasciitis, walking on hard surface such as road destroy my feet quickly, I came from normal shoes like Salomon, went to Altras for the zero drop, and to Vivos/Xeros for the barefoot hoping to strengthened my feet but still the same issue, it's a pain...

How many times a week do you hike, in regards to training, before you do you main hike?

You wouldn't enjoy the black forest. It's just all a bit boring if you are used to real mountains. Also forbidden to wild camp anywhere
