It's my story exactly. But I stood up for myself , with great help from my daughter. We choose happiness, confrontation over peace and then eventual frustration. I play badminton. Coincidentally the nationals were in Jaipur, but I couldn't go because was too sick. My question my dear child is why don't u stand up for your mom, even now. Its never too late for anything and there's just this one life. And I promise you your dad will come around. My husband in his straitjacket did ,grudgingly, unwillingly or even because he was check mated
Hari, as a chess player myself please take my criticism not in offence but hopefully as a way to make your story better, especially my last point. Firstly it’s called the Queen’s gambit not because you sacrifice your queen but you offer the pawn in front of the queen for sacrifice, so drop that from the set since it’s unnecessary, yet keep the point that you play the queen’s gambit. Lastly, asking at the end: “why do we always need to win”, is very confusing since that’s the whole reason for playing chess in the first place, the point that would make ur story great and tie all the threads back is to end it by noting that even though the queen is worth 9 points in value even though she moves almost anywhere, the king has infinite value even though he does very little or almost nothing, this can be made in the context of the feminism your addressing . This was the point I thought you were going to make before it ended but you went in a different direction. Hope you take my advice, it’s coming because I think your story can be made better with a few tweaks. Thanks
Well it could be a wife or husband or maybe he might not get married at all...the thing is the people whom he knw are lucky...they have a sensible friend...unlike many others
I am so proud of you for speaking on this topic. Specially the fact that you are a man and you realise this, it's just... wonderful. Every man I have come across always, always talks about how unnecessary feminism is. There are some who say they are feminists but to an extent. I have never ever seen a man who has actually understood it so well, explained it so well. I wish I get to meet you some day and thank you personally for speaking about this 💖 more power to you.
Ofcourse some men will be feminists for some extent. I'm like that too. I don't mind my wife working and I'm willing to relocate to her place if she gets a high salary job but that is just mutual respect, not feminism. Both of us have hired a cook and a maid and on weekends we both cook. The reason I'm feminist to an extent because I have a daughter and if I become a full feminist then that means letting her do whatever she wants, even drinking, smoking or sleeping around before marriage if she chooses to do which I do not agree with. Feminism is good for uplifting women, educating them, giving them jobs but I don't agree with letting them do whatever they want. I still tell my daughter to wear some decent clothes because the area around us is somewhat unsafe and I have taught her to wear such clothes .
@@gohan12991 feminism is about allowing females the right to making their own choices, giving them equal opportunities and equal rights and not limiting their performance because of stereotypes. According to your feminist ideals I'd say, after a certain age, you'll have to let your daughter make her own choices. That is your role as a parent, and that is what you'll have to do whether you have a son or a daughter. Then onwards you can only advice. You cannot control their lives forever. Feminism isn't about letting women smoke, drink, etc. It is about letting them make their choices. With all due respect, if you daughter is brought up well, she'll know better than to waste money smoking, drinking, etc. And you can always tell your children not to smoke or drink. But if you allow your son to smoke or drink and don't allow your daughter, then there would be a problem.
My son is also like you . So at the age of 55 , I started my Bharatnatyam again and did Arangetram on my 60th birthday . Sons are really supportive . Otherwise throughout the life I used to have conversation with back of a news paper 😂
When you described how your mom pleaded with your dad but couldn’t participate in the nationals at Nainital , I got a lump in my throat. How heartbroken she must’ve been. One really needs understanding parents or partner in life who will encourage and be supportive of ones passion.
Omg u just nailed . . .what a narration comparing moms sacrifice as queen gambit Take a bow. Queen does what ever she can to save his king , finally it's necessary to win always just awesome man . Tears rolled
Not a problem in my house though, I've got one of the most cooperative man as my father...But this video really hits the Indian Society. It's an awesome video with great content.

Listening to your narrative, I had a hug ready , doubtful whom I should give it. ...And here it's for you dear son, the understanding son she's gifted with..... Way to go Akku. Hi Hari Sankar This is the very first time I have ever commented on. Hearing you made me speechless. Yeah like someone said your Mom has won playing herself a gambit game and the prize is YOU. But as you have a long way to go, don't let your small ego to show its face. You have a beautiful mind, God bless and let it stay that way forever.
No she compromise her dreams and shredded her desire, she is a also a man before you call her "wo"man. And I actually felt bad for the dad, he should have learnt cooking😏
Its a process. Realisation itself is a big happening in itself. Acceptance, realisation and then comes correction. Atleast the process has started. Having said that I completely agree not only his mom but every woman born on this planet deserves love, respect and cooperation from her family.
I was still hoping for the end that your dad would say "YEAH I WAS WRONG AND DO WHAT EVER YOU ARE BEST AT". What I believe is "Always be the reason for someones success"...Apart from this you are wonderful and proud that you spoke about. I thank you so much and it is not necessary to always WIN when you and your loved ones are considered. Love for all moms who always sacrifices everything to make herself available for every condition.

Huge respect for you and your mom... And really sad that the mothers never learn to live for themselves,, ever.. Mothers cant ever choose anything over their children and family... It's not even an option taught to girls too to choose their life or love.. I wish things were different..
I loved this. Fun story, I play chess and go for tournaments, my grandfather taught me the game. My dad didn't approve me going to cities for the tournaments every year but my grandfather insisted for me. Daddu passed away last year.... Few months before that I started to teach my father how to play chess and he loved the game. And my father finally knows what it means to me.
