"Having to fight Star Wars kid... with every single godforsaken enemy in this DLC..... begins to take a toll on a man." John's forced calm and exquisite delivery with the pauses.
The funniest thing you can do for a stagger build is max your poise so you aren't able to get knocked over. Just a suggestion to consider! Loving these uploads!
Funniest intro's (5&6) ive ever seen. Watched John since his "critical" mohawk days, and I still can't keep away! It was thanks to JW's Bloodborne playthrough that made me think I might be able to give it a go. Best game ever, but that's just my opinion. It would be great to watch John try a 100%.
Finally just finished the Baldur’s Gate playthrough and now this!! Watching the og playthrough kept me company through long drawing sessions so I’m super excited for this one🔥🔥
Even though I’ve never played a “Dark Souls” game so my appraisal seems like nothing. However from watching John get decimated from the first mob he encountered to where he is now in the DLC has been fun to watch !
I was also very disappointed that the enemies will prioritise attacking the player instead of the dragon 😩 like c'mon guys we do that AFTER the dragon is dead
Man, I missed the ER content so much.. This is great! I'm not sure how thorough you want to be with this DLC, but just letting you know that you are missing a ton of side content. Plenty of hidden bosses/weapons and stuff in the random forests, encampments and cliffside caves. If you wanna focus more on the main path this time, that's totally fine, just thought I should mention it in case it wasn't intentional.
It doesn't look like he goes for main path, he seems to follow whatever looks interesting. I think the game's design is not ideal in that it is so easy to miss a lot of side quests (pretty much all lets plays I watched so far, missed NPCs and side quests without looking at guides - I love Fromsoft and the map design is gorgeous but it's also one of the main reasons why you simply can't play this game without missing stuff, especially when you do it as a lets play and don't want to have hours of aimless wandering around).
@@HulaNoob Well, I'm not sure if you watched John's playthrough of the base game, but he did a fantastic job on being thorough. He managed to do almost everything without guides and missed very little. I think this time he probably wants to take a more relaxed approach though, from the looks of it.
@@bruno-706 I watched it and as I remember, he used a lot of guides at the end of it, not the beginning. And he said at the beginning of this DLC playthrough that he did not spoil himself, so I think it's not just about being chill but also about getting the full wondrous experience of the DLC without being spoiled all the time.
@@HulaNoob Yeah, I was mostly referring to actually missable stuff. We went back to talk to NPCs all the time and explored a lot, which allowed him to not miss much. The wrap-up at the end was mostly non-missable stuff.
First off I'd like to say how much I legitimately love that you still call critical hits Viscerals. Bloodborne supremacy! Second I'm very happy to see you enjoying a completely new weapon. And third, your comment about every single dlc enemy being Star Wars kid starting to wear you down, I relate to that sentiment exactly. It really did feel like they made the vast majority new enemies hyperactive backflipping non stop combo all over the place, and it got severely annoying. My mind didn't go to Star Wars kid, but that one twinblade Knight in rhr last episode really did move like him lmao
Hopefully you caught this or found out about it by now, but you kinda blew right past a major story moment on the way into Shadow Keep. I understand it's because you were fleeing the furnace golem, but hopefully you caught it while reviewing the footage. Also remember an episode ago when you found that note and gesture near the grace and said "I'm gonna have to use this somewhere"...
I wish he would’ve done some of these live once in a while unless I missed it on twitch. I’m sure he’s done with the dlc by now, but it would’ve been nice
The shadow people carrying sparkling jars on their heads usually have something pretty good on them, more often than not a Scadutree Fragment (beware of the non sparkling jars however) in fact you missed one repeatedly at the scorched town just trying to take out the dogs and necromancers, last video you missed a cliffside leading down the waterfall (right side of the waterfall) and leads to one of the most visually interesting locations in the game, missed an ENTIRE ROAD right in front of Igon (the person screaming in pain at the start of last video) and leads to an entire area. Missed two Scadutree Fragments in the encampment in front of the Shadow Keep, it's very easy to miss on the main road leading in to the encampment on the right. Use the "May the best win" gesture in front of Dryleaf Dane, the monk that note you picked up spoke of to recieve a new weapon at Moorth Ruins. Since the Great Rune has broken I recommend speaking to all of the NPC's again, in particular Thiollier and Ansbach, Especially the former, as they have a unique sidequest that can be missed if you progress too far into the DLC (just don't burn a tree and you'll be able to still do most of them). Also you missed a spirit ash in the Fog Rift Catacombs (seemed like you were rushing through it not really caring because it's a catacomb) you ALSO missed a cave to the left of the waterfall at where you thought would lead to a map fragment last video, around where the crab was. Finally, please stop spamming weapon arts and then getting frustrated whenever you wipe out due to a lack of patience (or a jump button that still hasn't been remapped...) and yes, a shield is still recommended.
@@Stewart.george Well I hope he at least figures out how to access those two areas at least, or this might be a much shorter than normal DLC playthrough, although he has stated that he's already up to part 14+ so most of the advice probably won't reach him until near the end of the playthrough, as what happened in the base game.
@@emperordrakei5306 Yeah hopefully. I do agree with most of what you said in the original comment he will eventually sort it out. I do however completely agree about the weapon art spamming but that's how John wants to play 😂
@@TD-cl3eb Comment stated 14+ parts, not total. I suppose we will have to see if he decides to vary his attacks and weapons more; becomes very stale spamming one weapon art over and over with almost no regular attacks mixed in. Wonder what his reaction to the Abyssal Woods will be like when he finds it later on. Should be fun to find out.
The attacks that track and move with you are so cheap. Come on, mid swing you can't just pivot 90 degrees and follow a dodge roll. I hate these cheap attempts to make the game harder.

John watching all those dudes fighting the dragon cracked me up 😂
NOBODY expects the Golden Hippopotamus!
I love how salty you are about those dudes who attack you instead of the ghostflame dragon.

It was amazing to see the Wicker Man giant wreck that camp! I feel like Messmer's forces were overkill tho...

The pop up at 1:03:38 was preceded by another that said, "Somewhere, a great rune has broken...".
Whatever that means...xD
I loved the spear conversation 🤣
54:32 "Let's go back to the Moorth Ruins.... and I guess we'll keep going.....Moorth?"
Haha the beginning was great. The least those NPCs could’ve done was take a quarter of that dragon’s health with them xD
I couldn't time that better if I wanted to I just finished watching part 5. Went out for another video low and behold part 6 awesome job. Love it.

Hey John! Are we getting videos at 2pm and 6pm now? Or is this just for elden ring videos? Sorry if i missed an announcement, I was just curious! 🙌🏻
yeah I'm doing 2x ER videos every other day for now, since there are so many parts (14+) and I started playing it a little late
@JohnTwolfe thanks!
Loving this series ❤❤❤❤❤

Woohoo! Another one so quick!
"scientifically illiterate garbage" - I love it.
Perfect timing
Thank you John!

John you should get rid of your scarseal talisman, you are taken increased dmg because of it.
The shadow keep is a good legacy dungeon, but the fire knights practically ruin it

I believe sprint is referred to as Dash in the controls menu :)
