You know how many times I googled "davinci resolve animate text" in various forms to only keep getting the dynamic zoom - you sir are a scholar and a gent
Another thing I recommend for pop effect is 1st frame do half of your desired amount like 0.04 and go 1 frame add 0.01 to desired amount which is 0.09, then go 6 frames do 0.08 the desired amount. Add motion blur to 7-8. Smooth out in fusion by selecting all. It is what I see some youtubers do in their videos.
Thanks so much for showing how to do these animations! I'm saving them to my Davinci Resolve immediately! Btw I looked up the Alex Tech guy you mentioned in one of your YT Shorts. I've learned a lot from watching him. So thanks for shouting him out, too!
this was awesome! thank you so much for the help! i will be watching this approximately 6 more times before i feel safe enough to click on the fusion tab XD
at around 3 minutes when he does the fusion step, my text doesnt move at in this feature, like in editting mode it works how it should but fusion it doesnt move and i can make the changes he shows in the video. any solution? (spline also doesnt show up)
Thanks for your very helpful guide! However the keyframe button has disappeared from the size property in the updated Davinci Resolve version. How do we do this now?
Unfortunately, no. Converting subtitles to text+ is something a lot of creators seem to struggle with. There are some ways to do conversions if you search around
hey at 6:41 what you said ctrl + a what command was that? my keyboard layout is a bit different so i couldnt find that command. I had to switch back to default keyboard layout to do that. thanks!
That's the tracker node in Fusion! Go into the Fusion page -> add a Tracker Node -> Track your face or object -> then i believe you go to the Operations Tab -> Match Move -> FG Only
0:42 Start of video. EDIT page / Effects. Add *Text+* node to timeline. Make your txt anim. 2:55 Right click on the Text+ layer - Edit in FUSION page 😱3:15 SPLINE Tab for Easing (upper right corner). 4:14 SETTINGS Tab - Enable Motion Blur (nice, innit'?) Save animaton as preset: th-cam.com/video/83TBl5rzvq4/w-d-xo.html
Hi Wampus! for me this text they work pretty good, but for some reason once I save the text on a power bin to use it later for a 9:16 reel it gets crop. Any advice of what im doing wrong? thank you and keep up the good work.
It'll be in the "Shading" tab of your title settings. Element 1 will be your primary font settings. Element 2 is the outline. Element 3 is your shadow. You can customize these too look/behave however you'd like, but by default, that's where those options live!
Hmmm, if you start with a text+ title on the edit page, and then make changes in the fusion page, you should be able to still edit the text on the edit page. If you add a text node within fusion, separate from the existing template node, you won't be able to edit the characters in the edit page.
AFTER ADDING TEXT+ whats that pink coloured box underneath the text+ box? you didn't mention that as a step by step bro instead you went straight into editing. Please let us know by your reply
I don't know if there is a keybind shortcut to add a key frame, but you can open your spline window and click on your curve on the 8 locations you want to add a key frame, of scrub to the frame you want a key frame and click the diamond button
for anyone having issues actually seeing the keyframes in the spline menu; click the 3 dots beside the magnifying glass, and click "show all" instead of "show none". no idea why that's even an option, but i wasted like 20 minutes trying to figure out why i couldn't see the keyframe dots like in the video.
I know it's been a while but I'm wondering if there's a way to do pop-in with smooth pop-out as 1 title template and use it with Snap Captions? Could it be done so that the Text+ clips would adjust the animation lenght to subtitle duration? Hope my question makes sense
Add a media in node onto the fusion page, and then swap the "timeline" property to "background", if you connect that in your node tree, you should be able to see what's on the edit page
Thank you! How would you make the text look like it’s being typed as the viewer watches? So each word or letter would appear on screen one after another?
This was really helpfull also I just started using Davinci to edit my own videos but how do i blur the background and keep the text without it getting blurred out?
In Fusion? Or on the Edit Page? In fusion, add whatever Blur node you'd like into your pipeline, and just make sure your Text+ Node is merged AFTER the blurred background. On the Edit page, either apply a Gaussian, Lens, etc Blur from the Effects tab directly to your background, or use an adjustment clip. If you still have more questions, pop into the discord and we can help you out 👍
Thank you for this tutorial. I've used Adobe AE for around 15 years and I'm boldly switching to resolve. A lot of it makes sense but I'm really seeking 'best practices' from other creators. Can I (annoyingly) ask questions about the tutorial video that aren't related to text animation haha? if you have tuts on these just point me! The keyframe motion graphics at the start (is that a fusion composition, or an mp4 layered over?). If it's a composition, is that much work or is it possible to whip something like that up fast once you know how? The zooming into parts of the screen (are you using adjustment layers, or precomposing and scaling, or ken burns, or what?) The callout for the picture in picture (rounded edges, the drop shadow) Its not that I don't know how to achieve these things, just seeking wisdom from someone who might be doing it more efficiently!
haha you may ask away! Welcome to team Davinci. 1. If you're referring to the paper tear graphic, that is a masked out mp4. Although, it is very easy to do something similar in Fusion once you get comfortable. 2. You can keyframe your zooms with adjustment layers, but I would highly recommend doing a youtube search for MrAlexTech's Magic Zoom. He has a couple of incredible, free plugins for davinci resolve, one of them is called magic zoom and all it does is drag and drop zoom effects (i do normally apply the Magic Zoom to an adjustment layer) 3. There are a few ways to do rounded edges and drop shadows, either on the edit page or fusion. Edit page is probably the easiest, go to your OpenFX tab and search for "Transform". This will give you some new transform options, one of them will be "Edge Rounding". You can also then search for Drop Shadow and slap that sucker on. What you'll probably come to find, is that there are some band-aid type FX and controls on the edit page that will get the job done, but when you want to something with more control, you'll need to go into Fusion. Fusion takes a day or two to get used to, but once you do, it is so incredibly powerful. Not quite on AE's level, but pretty dam close
@@itstheWampus Thanks so much for that, much appreciate it. 1- I should have been more specific sorry, it's at 0:30 with the animated vector graphics that represent the four keyframes. I feel confident I'll soon have a bunch of my own in fusion! 3 - That is very convenient thanks. I'm finding resolve is an 'easy when you know where to go' kind of tool, moreso than Adobe AE which for me was almost instinct, I understood keyframes, expressions and effects and from there I had the building blocks of the universe to do what I wanted. I appreciate those insights regarding edit page v fusion and your general approach, it makes sense. I think I'm being a little impatient with the learning process, I feel quite desperate to quickly get back up to speed. Honestly, as a video idea, the very best tutorial for me and maybe others doing a switch from Adobe AE would be the most broad video, like simply watching a video of someone EDITING a video similar to this tutorial (ironically) and how they piece together the visual elements. Ahhhh I gotcha! Yes that's a fusion comp, and it's fairly painless once your familiar with the fusion page. I would say generally speaking, Fusion can do everything that you would want to do in AE (i.e. motion graphic, 3D camera movements, tracking, comping, etc. etc.), but it might not have that certain plugin yet that makes life easy in AE. It's getting there though. The Resolve community is really strong, and Blackmagic Design does an amazing job of updating the software. "Easy when you know where to go" is the best description of DaVinci I've heard lol, but! coming from AE you'll already be familiar with the concepts you'll need to apply Thank you so much for supporting the channel
@@itstheWampus nice, that's good to know its a fusion comp. I've been using DR for a couple projects and it keeps becoming more familiar so it'll all be good. I might struggle working around that. I like nodes. I got into nodes with Unreal Engine 5. you'll want to keyframe the motion and then smooth out your spline in the Fusion page. There is also a tool called "Magic Animate" from Mr Alex Tech that does a great job of animating images
you could either use a 3D Camera and actually have the text fly in from fair away and come in close, or you would just need to start your text out small, and keyframe it so that flys into the center and gets bigger. The trick would be too smooth out your spline curves so that it looks how you'd like

If you add a text node within fusion, separate from the existing template node, you won't be able to edit the characters in the edit page.

you could either use a 3D Camera and actually have the text fly in from fair away and come in close, or you would just need to start your text out small, and keyframe it so that flys into the center and gets bigger. The trick would be too smooth out your spline curves so that it looks how you'd like
my key frames don’t show up and i can’t do zoom to fit, also the text size doesn’t show up either
i have the same issue, did you figure out how to get the key frames to show up?
