Nothing rude about trying to get the best price mate , it’s the whole point of the car boot to haggle and get deals.. if you want eBay prices , eBay it
My thoughts exactly !
22:05 - You make some good points about the scanning, I personally wouldn't.
For me car boots are a bit more of a personal affair, I suppose I would liken it to going to dinner with your partner and checking the costs of the menus against other restaurants before agreeing to go in 😂😂
Haha yeah maybe that’s what people don’t like it’s more personal? For me it’s strictly business 😅
I don't scan in front of people, mainly because I don't want to end up with an argument with the seller about perceived value.
I'm firmly of the belief that it's not up to buyers to inform sellers of their items worth.
If they saw prices on CEX and suddenly went "well its worth that, I want that now" I've lost a purchase because I'm just going to walk away. Plus I don't need the aggro.
If I'm buying stuff for trade it's only worth a certain value and it might not sell otherwise. Likelihood is a lot of DVDs at carboots are selling to no one but resellers. Therefore, it doesn't matter that someone else (especially a shop with a return policy) is selling it for more.
The context of the place of purchase matter but I don't want to have that debate with someone in a field at 6 in the morning.
Great to see you at the booty’s mate, I look stuff up also mate not rude, 100% gotta check that it worth picking up or not. 👍👊
Yeah man it’s good to see most people think this way as well 👍🏻
My Sunday morning is complete once again!
🙌🏻😂
"Come back in a minute when ive had a look through them" heard that so many time only to go back and they go "ah some fella took em all!" ballache haha
Haha exactly !!
Glad you back mitch. Every week I kept checking to see if you had uploaded. Sod the haters mate , I personally have learnt alot from you to trade into cex from the carboots mate. Peace out bro
reason i dont check infront of sellers is cos i dont want them upping the price on me 😂😂
😂😂😂
+Retro rummage. Glad to see you back out at it we've missed you bud and great video as always
Nice to see so many games at that booty still. I see Scott smashed it too., I really missed out at the bank holiday car boot. Big one of the summer. Wasn’t expecting you to say this was on a Wednesday, nice turnout that I didn’t know they happened in the week. Guitar hero is really fun
Yeah man it was good for a Wednesday! I think it helps it’s the summer holidays for the kids so people are off work etc
Sundays are complete once more!
Nice one Mitch 💪
Spot on about checking prices, the only people who get funny about it are the ones who know things don't work etc. I just tell people I'm checking my spreadsheet of games I already have.
Yeah man that’s an excuse I’ve used before!
Yes, Mitch! Good to see you back pal! 👍
I’m not saying it’s you but I’ve seen resellers complain when the seller looks up the prices it works both ways it’s the way it is😊
That’s true! Although I would argue if you want it’s true value don’t sell it at a car boot 😅
I always say I'm checking a list of what games i need on my phone. Whenever I get bugged by a seller when I'm scanning
Yeah I’ve used that one before as well 😂
That Commodore Lot Mitch. I would have blew my beans if I stumbled across that. I would have offered him 20 quid for the lot and see how it went.
😂😂 tbh the condition looked really nice on most of them but I’ve bought from that guy once or twice and he usually checks prices etc so doubt he would have accepted that 🤷🏼♂️
so glad your back mate love your videos but aye nothing wrong with scanning go for it
I know you're checking to see how much a item is worth, but practically doing it in front of the seller can come across rude, you gave a example of a kitchen worktop, did you look for better deals in front of the bloke when he gave you a estimate? it's the same thing.
My other pet hate is when buyers trash the games whilst searching through the boxes, or they drop them back down on the floor if the price isnt cheap enough, i know you don't do this but i have seen it happen with another reseller.
That’s true however with the example of the kitchen counter I would go back to them and say I can get it cheaper elsewhere can you improve your price. So no I’m not doing it in front of them but I would make them aware which I would say is more in your face? And yeah I’ve seen that as well 👀
The box set king 😎
I heard that borderlands film flopped too 😅 that’s funny if someone got a load .
My Sundays are complete again.please you are back Mitch not rude at all to check prices in my opinion.take care and good car booting lol
I'm glad you back, I can enjoy my Sundays
I prefer not to scan as it's all part of the fun of the hunt (I collect DVDs/ Blu Rays rather than games) and building up that knowledge (admittedly I mainly buy to keep these days). Been collecting for 20 years or so though when there wasn't apps so maybe I'm just an old fart 😂 Don't think there is an issue as such but when there are big bundles of things I'm picking stuff up whilst others are still scanning... Though of course the flip side sometimes trade prices change and something I thought got decent credit is now worthless so...
I tend to go with my gut or knowledge purely because I need to move on fast. As you say it is competitive out there and if you aren't 1st to see it then rarely it stays there for very long. I also have a strong out for the death pile and usually get my money back or make some.
If someone asks what seems to be alot, say £5 and then claim the item is worth £10 then that is an invitation for me to get the phone out and say let's have a look.
I have also started selling at retro gaming conventions and everyone is checking up prices on my stall and I'm so happy for that because I price under ebay and I do deals. If I don't price like that I sell nothing.
Yeah you’re right you need to be quick and I’ve wasted time before scanning DVD’s 😂 I think scanning is good for everyone keeps the prices down!
Some good finds there, with regards to your reselling business, do you use any apps etc to work out your tax etc?
Smash it again mate 👊🏼 welcome back totally enjoyed the notification when i got up 👍🏼
Nope not rude. I do it all the time, in my opinion, if they're to lazy not to check and I get a good deal. Also, if I don't wanna be rude, I just walk off a bit, check my phone and come back. Also dude, welcome back! 👊
feels like the competition gets harder every year. Found some better luck in dvd boxsets and odd computer bits.
Welcome back mate there’s nothing wrong with asking for a cheaper price I always do it if I wanted the item I would of got it from cex or eBay anyways great video mate
Some sweet car boot sale pick-ups, no calculators or other non-gaming electronics huh? It's ok, why would it be rude to look up prices on games or gaming related items? If you're looking for a good deal there's nothing wrong with that, haggling's good too(that's if the seller is willing to lower the price a bit). I was telling Dan The Games Man that I wished we had CEXes out here in the States(the game shops out here only do store credit, or voucher as you and others call it in England), that would be super cool. To get both store credit and cash for whatever games or other things(depending on the condition of whatever of course) would be great, the cash part would probably be more or less preferred. All that aside, another great video Mitch. Nicely done as always 👍🏽😎👍🏽🎮🕹️
Good to see ya back
Great video mate. Scanning items is here to stay and will soon be considered the norm. I occasionally do it but I prefer not too. If its a small amount of money I just buy it and check later. Buying someone's personal belongings is different to buying from a shop, and it's preferable to be respectfull and not analyse their stuff in front of them. But I fully appreciate the resellers have to make a living as best they can.
Lotsvof People at sales like that are not selling personal stuff. They buy and sell
Yeah you’re right I don’t always do it but if I don’t know the value and it’s expensive etc i’ll for sure check. I suppose it’s very situational 👍🏻
@retro_rummage_ yep. Situational is a good way to describe it. It's a balance of competing with the resellers and maintaining some dignity lol.
great having back.
Nothing wrong with scanning, personally I am just wary of the seller getting the hump and thinking they are majorly under valuing something. But that’s there own fault I suppose if they don’t put the effort to research. I am a collector generally so I know what I want and what I’ll pay.
I thibk if they want to check prices they should do that before going to the carboot, i dont want to stand around for 10 minutes while they go on ebay and look at listed prices and then want that price im in too much of a rush 😂
Haha yeah the worse is when they say just let me check the price I always so thank you and say I have to go lol
I don't feel it is wrong to scan at the bootsales. I feel if the customer knows the return on something they may be happy to pay a little more than chipping the sellers price down.
I couldn't agree with you more with regards to checking the prices, unfortunately for me I allow my anxiety to get the better of me in those situations and tend to keep my phone tucked away until I'm away from the stall, i guess in fear of being spotted and confronted about it... Stupid really when I say it out loud but that's my head for ya! 😅 But i believe you to be right, it shouldn't be an issue really
Yeah I know what you mean sometimes you have to read the crowd. I have had a few instances where I’ve got a rude remark but I just keep on moving lol
Trade-in prices on PS2 games are terrible. It's like CeX don't want them. Couldn't make it there today, got a puncture. Hope it was a good one. 👍
When changing Xbox controllers do u just remove the sticker to get it he screw or heat it up and remove
I usually heat it slightly with a hair dryer then pull it back half way 👍🏻
Keep it up mate. Great content 😊
Nothing rude at all, I'm a physical movie collector and I know a lot of cex prices when comes to dvds, but if I'm not sure when in a charity shop I'll always check, especially games cos not as familiar with them, great to have you back btw
Yeah mate it’s gotta be done especially as the value is always changing 👍🏻 thank you!
Great to see you back on the hunt mate 👊👊
Thanks girls !!
Mate don’t get me started on kitchens I just spent 10K on a new kitchen and that’s not with fitting costs
I know mate we got ours done last year we’ll be paying it off for a long time 😅😅
1st!! Still great to see you back!!
Thank you man!!
I sell at carboots every weekend and I don't mind people scanning stuff
Top man 👍🏻
Iv never heard of rawhide , you should watch it do a live stream to help me sleep 😂
Hahaha rather watch paint dry!
Nah not rude in the slightest, its a carboot and prices should be cheap and cheerful. I've see soo many carbooters expecting top prices when its supposed to be a carboot and its a place for people to get rid of stuff and not take it back home with them. I also think haggling is part and parcel of a carboot and i have no isses with doing so when im at one 👍🏻
£1 each for a dvd feels way too high for me at a boot sale . I get blue ray but run of the mill films seems a bit far fetched .
Yeah tbh there are very few that are worth that when I was selling em at the car boot I was doing 10p each and they still weren’t shifting 😂
welcome back
Watch out for the joycons the right joycon the R button breaks easily ans it's that hard to repair its not worth it whereas stick drift the thumbsticks are easily replaced a quick ykutube video will help you
Anyone that tells you they don't haggle or check prices at carboots are chatting absolute shite.......
Mate, these lemons who think negotiating a price is rude and exactly who the sellers (individuals and corporates) love. You pay what you are willing to pay. People sell at what they are willing to sell at. You’re looking after your finances, and that’s smart.
