I am glad this American icon gets to be enjoyed by many around the world for more decades to come. As soon as I can; I am going to ride Loch Ness again.
So awesome to see a classic Arrow classic being preserved. I mean, this baby is a real classic too. That screen in the triple helix tunnel was dope. Great stuff. I wish the other Seaworld and Busch parks were doing stuff like this.
Was pretty bummed this was closed on my recent first time to BGW, but I'm glad its getting the love and refurb it definitely deserves! 👍 These old Arrows are becoming relics at this point, have to treasure them while they're still here! ❤️
46 years old and still looks amazing. 1978. Love that classic Arrow lift hill sound. Glad they redid this coaster with new track and more effects. This was pre Arrow mega looper time period which basically started with Vortex at Kings Island in 1987.
The destroyed car reminds me of the destroyed sky buckets on the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland. Very nice touch there. Is there more to the special effects in the cave? sometimes it's hard to catch those things on camera and in person it's clearer like on Verbolten, but I couldn't see a lot in the video.
I think it's randomized to. I've seen other povs where the monster doesn't leave the screen like it's following you out and from other comments. In this pov you get the rare Nessie is chasing you audio track where he says "go go go, she's after ya" same with the screen. I've seen other povs where she just tries to strike you in tunnel or just pops up into view
That's not a tunnel it's a pub. They are watching footie on the big screen... Original 10th anniversary effects were the best. Just some strobe, mist, and original head graphic to the left of the exit. This one will probably only be used for a year like the other anniversary themes and be left with just the statue.
It's still pretty much the same. Don't care much for the audio throughout except for in the tunnel, now that was cool and wished they'd have done that a long time ago.
They did a really nice job on this. Love the audio, the new theming, the fact work was done because someone actually cares about this awesome interlocking loop coaster (the drop is also underrated) with the crazy now actually themed again helix. Now I just hope maybe instead of that horrid "Drachen Spire' idea they maybe decide to give Pantheon's theming a desperate upgrade. They certainly don't need any new coasters anytime soon, a ride maybe sure namely a drop tower at some point in the next few years. P.S. If ONLY other parks, the ones with more coasters BGW had b4 the multi-launch with a GCI in between, whom had many more coasters then, went for quality over quantity and took care of there older stuff properly. Also, sorry BGW your now guilty of the quantity thing with darkcastle-not a new 2.0 dark ride we all deserved but a coaster with insane wait times that's family.
Loch Ness Monster really has stood the test of time~ I mean since 1978, it's been thrilling riders, and thanks to S&S and Busch Gardens for doing such amazing renovations and putting a lot of money into this coaster, it still seems to run excellent 46 years later. I mean it even looks brand new~
Love the rest of the ride but ngl I’m a little disappointed with the helix, I thought it was gonna have a lot more going on than just some screens lol. Was hoping for some strobes and a physical Loch Ness head at the end of the tunnel similar to the original, but hey it’s something at least.
Oh yeah! This and Tennessee Tornado at Dollywood (both of which I’ve ridden) are the only 2 smooth Arrow loopers that I know of although I could be wrong as there’s probably more of them that I don’t know about
New theming added after this was take . There are two more screens on the left side inside the tunnel and a large Nessie statue stands next to the track after the second loop. You can see the platform for it in this video.
My record is 15 times with a friend when the park was empty - we just stayed in the seat. It was interesting how towards the end the thrill was pretty much gone. It felt like having a conversation in a normal car ride, except with a better view
Question to everyone who has rode this,I have a big Fear of BIG coasters, how is this ride? I heard it's smooth and the only rides I will ride here is a wooden one and the dark koaster.
This was my favorite coaster 35 yrs ago - and I don't like big ones either. I did enjoy Alpengeist in 97 though I had my eyes closed much of the ride. The first drop on Loch Ness monster is not steep and only 114 feet (by comparison I305 at KD has a 305 foot first drop; Dominator a 200 ft drop). Loch Ness's last hill you can see is basically just a ramp. There is a trim brake on the bigger hill before the first loop so you are really going the same speed and distance and angle as the last hill. It just looks scarier. This is really a perfect beginner to intermediate coaster and w the new tracking should be smoother. Also Verbolten is a family coaster and Apollos Chariot looks intimidating but is just hills (no inversions)and not too fast - roller coaster 'enthusiasts' find it boring.
@@Martin_ros tysm!! I think what my problem is lots of rides look rather scary to me which makes me not wanna get on them. Now I only confuse myself bc I can easily ride the zipper at the fairs and I even rode the batman 360 coaster at six flags. I'm building up lots of courage to get on this with my father since he used to ride it alot when he was younger.
@@Lizzydarlingxoxo I'd say, give it a try. Worst case, you don't like it, and move on with your day, ya know? Or you might find a few minutes in life where you had no worries, just fun. If you rode any of the Batman coasters at a Six Flags, this ain't nothing. It's a classic coaster, so while it might have a jank here and there at a turn, none of them are bad as it's been taken care of exceptionally well. And it's only just above 100 foot and the drops really aren't steep. I would say it's a fantastic starter "family thrill" coaster. Emphasis on thrill there. As it is quite intense in a few spots. The valleys of the 2 main drops and the triple helix. But also has a lot of slow, down time to catch your breath. And remember, thousands of people ride it per day and come off perfectly fine. Embrace the fear!
This was the second coaster my daughter rode at BGW. First was Big Bad Wolf and she road it 8 times in a row at the age of 5. When she was tall enough for the Loch Ness the next year she was thrilled to ride it. This one is fairly tame compared to most. If you want smooth then you can't go wrong with Apollo's Chariot although the drops are higher. Loch isn't as smooth but a great coaster to start with as it is thrilling without being over powering (Like KD Intimidator 305 for example).
They did the themeing here much better than the new darkoaster That thing has an identity crisis where loch Ness is honestly perfect The huge TV screens could been longer in the cave so the monster could chase them through
Did they replace the track and make it any less rough? Haven't rode it before? why not replace the train with more comfortable restraints instead of the hard over the shoulder restraints?
Sorry but I think the audio track is annoying and the accent is like a Scot version of Lucky the Leprecaun. The what happened to the previous expedition backstory is stolen from Disney's Expedirion Everest (Escape the Yeti) coaster. I wish they had just added back the original cave effects w the misting of water as you came out; maybe a good Hollogram instead of the mural. Something in the water too as you make the first drop ( underwater hollogram?). I hope the coaster is smoother and the chain lifts look faster. Like the fresh gold and green paint. But really the effects are uncreative and lame
@@Elementalcoasters8695 I'm glad you like it. I think it sucks. I didn't need to be told a story in 1988 when I first rode it and I don't need it now. It's not Hagrid's.

Getting Shrek to narrate the lift hill was a nice touch
Was that Mike Myers' voice? He also has done other Scottish-accented characters like Fat Bastard.
As with a lot of Scottish speakers...I think I got about fifty percent of that.
I like the new audio track they got on board and I like the destroyed car they have before the chain left! ❤
Fr tho I going to go on this when I go back to Busch gardens! Can't wait to try a upside down ride!

Just rode today it's extremely smooth
I liked this video and it turned to 800 likes
It's so smooth now
So I'll be sure to ride this if I ever visit Busch Gardens. Too bad they no longer have the Big Bad Wolf.
Well there is a rumor that they might bring the big bag wolf back as a B&M family invert similar to Phoenix Rising at Busch Gardens Tampa
@@Elementalcoasters8695 wait. They would replace Verbolten with that or it would be at different place?
Very cool

When I got on Loch Ness it started shaking and I tht something is wrong but it nothing😂
Loch Ness was my very first roller coaster when I was 5 years old. My dad put lifts in my shoes to make the height requirement in 1978.

Love the new tunnel but that loud talking over the loud speakers is really annoying. I wouldn't mind hearing some Scottish bagpipe music playing.
Is it open to the public? I was thinking it will open on May 10th
It was open for members today
Ohhhhhh
Maybe they should have updated the anti rollbacks so that you can hear the music and speech better
