Denise, Your vulnerability and care are something rarely known these days and I’ve never witnessed it before. You underestimate yourself and over the last two weeks, I’ve fallen in love with you and your mission to help all of us (your wig sisters). I don’t think you can appreciate how much you and all that you teach means. I’m grateful and will hold you in my prayers. God bless you!
Denise- What you are wearing is stunning on you. I think the longer, wispy bang and up-do with your earrings and dark eyes- it’s just beautiful on you. Thank you for all of your videos.
Hey Denise, the FOMO syndrome is strong when you get bombarded with wigmails. I found one of your subscribers' suggestions very helpful. That was to pull out the wigs you have and work with them. Also got the thinning shears and went to town. Now some of my bushy wigs look so much better!!! Last, but not least, please know I am looking forward to all your videos and I feel as you do about the world. Here's what I do...look into the eyes of someone you love or your dog or cat. Get into nature. It will help.
Thank you, Twyla. I absolutely need to do that. I think I have to shut off social media and all forms of news for awhile a s focus on God and family. The chaos is destroying my sanity. Hugs my friend... huge ones!
Wow, the "I can totally relate" moments as I watched this! I think I never really wanted to label it an "addiction", I didn't want to admit I was going overboard. I convinced myself I was being practical. Funny how we can convince ourselves a "want" is a "need". I WANT more wigs, but I sure don't NEED one more! My FOMO was two fold: 1) missing a great sale as though it would never occur again (though history has proven that is false), 2) what if something happens to my current fave I wear and I don't have a backup?? - which led me to purchase the same wig 8 times, in two different colors. And that is not even half of my current inventory. The struggle is real, and I am grateful you addressed this with such compassion and understanding.
My biggest problem with over buying wigs was trying to find a good color! For me it can be the greatest style, but if the color is not flattering, it will sit in the closet. I've spent so much on the learning curve, YIKES! Yes, WAITING for the style to come in before I bought 2-3 more because they were "on sale", yes I think I've done it all on wasting money for wigs. Great topic, thanks for video!
Yes it was very helpful. You are being used in an awesome way, what a blessing you are. And, you are not alone. Never before have we gone through a time where it just seems like the tide is turning in such a bad way in this world. And we can see so many jumping aboard that sinking ship. Just remember, that while the whole world around us is just struggling right now, and we can't seem to stop it. We can make a difference in our small world. By sharing encouragement, by helping those near to us. It doesn't change the big picture, but it may change an individuals entire world. You have been a blessing to me today. And I will attempt to be a blessing to someone else. If we all come together we can ease the pain a little and also strengthen ourselves and others for what may be ahead. We were not promised an easy path, but it is still worth taking, and we do not walk alone.
Thank you, Denise!! I only recently decided that wigs were the solution to my hair loss...even had my friend buzz my head according to your video yesterday. But this video which I only just found today, though you recorded it nearly two years ago, was SO timely! ...a sure sign of God's fingerprints. I was on a steep slope into wig addiction....one came today which you reviewed and I loved but it is TOTALLY wrong for me and I'm now printing a return label for it...and your suggestions are great!! I feel like I was pulled back from the edge of a cliff! Thank you and thank God!! As for the evil in the world you spoke of, it's even deeper and darker now. But I have a word for you....All is happening within the plan of Divine Providence and He has not forgotten any of us! We have nothing to fear when we are His; our job is to do whatever He has given to us to do day by day and anything that is outside our power to influence we leave to Him in trustful peace. He's a good Father and has told us scripturally and experientially that He will never leave us or forsake us. Our Holy Triune God has 'got this' whatever it is! May God continue to bless you, dear wig sister.
I have to make notes on all of my wigs because I never remember which ones are heat friendly and which ones are full synthetic. And btw, I’m not a Christian, I am Jewish, but we still believe in God and I stayed to the end to hear EVERYTHING that you had to say! The world right now is so scary. It’s only 2/14/2023 but we’ve already had over 60 mass shootings in this country and it is really difficult to take! So much pain and suffering with everything going on. Love you Denise! You’ve made me feel better already and I hope you are as well!!!
I know this is an old video…. But I have to praise you (again!) for your transparency, for your willingness to share your life experiences, the good and the bad. When I watch a video like this one I always envision you and I sitting on my couch talking. There are hug moments, laugh moments, honest moments, crying moments. You have a gift, girl. More than one. You are touching women’s lives. I pray that, as tw o years have passed, you have regained your joy for living, your deep sense of who you are in Christ. You know He loves you in every season 😘🙏🏼
Hi Denise, this was so timely for me. I’m tempted to binge wig shop right now. Also a close sister in Christ and I were saying to each other just yesterday that we are praying for joy. We’re just not feeling it. Remember David said, “Why are you cast down oh my soul?” Then, “I shall hope in God who is the health of my countenance.” I’m sending love along with prayers for all of us to experience the joy of our salvation. ❤️ Sharon
Thank you Denise for your words of encouragement! Hebrews 20;23 “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise”. The Lord is with us sister, during these dark moments and time of uncertainty. Thank you for sharing. Looking up with you. Much love ❤️ 🙏
“He knows how to pray even when we don’t.” I wrote that down so I never forget it!! I need to remind myself of that. I don’t have an issue with spending as just can’t afford it but I like all your videos so I watched this one too. And I am so thankful I watched this one just for that ending!
This video just popped up in my feed today. I'm just beginning my journey so I thought, "There won't be much in here for me bc I only have 4 wigs and I'm definitely not 'addicted', YET!" I was definitely wrong to assume there wouldn't be any content for me, and so glad I watched beginning to end. I love the way you disseminate information in ALL your videos. Your presentation style is spot on with my learning style. I feel like I'm listening to a friend that I fully trust when I'm watching/listening to you, and I rarely (if ever) second guess something you've said or suggested. Those are some of the reasons I decided to go ahead and watch when this came up in my feed today. Everything happens for a reason, in my world, so I figured, "There must be something in here for me"... and of course, there was! You gave valuable information just when I needed it. Most importantly, in my opinion as an infant in this journey, was the spreadsheet. It will be so much easier to start with 4 wigs and continue to properly utilize it in order to make informed decisions about future purchases by adding new ones as I go along rather than wait until it IS a problem that I'm trying to rein in after I've accumulated a larger number of girls to keep track of, possibly in an addiction sort of manner. A spreadsheet is a perfect tool, not only for Intervention, but also one of Prevention! Just as important as an "Intervention" for someone in the middle of a full blown addiction, for newbies, like me, this is truly a very valuable method of "Prevention". By starting a spreadsheet now, I can keep track of all the information I need to ensure a greater possibility of success when it comes to keeping my spending in check. Thank you for the time, effort and thoughtfulness you put into your work. Your excitement and positive attitude about any topic at hand generates excitement and reassurance that we can also overcome whatever obstacles stand before us, just as you did! Thank you, again! ❤
Love you for posting this. I have the wig addiction. I know i don't need anymore but it's hard to stop. Years ago I fell into the same trap with the shopping channels. 6 easy payments! What a deal! Except when you stack them it gets out of control just like you were talking about. My daughter was doing the same. So we became each others support system so when we found something we couldn't live without we would call and say TALK ME DOWN. It saved us a lot of grief and eventually we got it under control. Addiction is very difficult. Lots of love and support to you and everyone! 💋💕
I love that you and your daughter could use this to bond, in a way. I am so glad I have never gotten into those shopping channels, many I can see how that could be dangerous!
What helped me is asking myself what wig I ALREADY have is similar to the one I'm craving. That makes me take a mental inventory. I also have a problem with buying multiples of the same style for "back up" in case it is discontinued. As far as your question, "Is this video helping anyone?" my answer is this: my husband just walked through and asked, "Who are you talking to?" Denise, it was you! I'm talking to you via my screen, "Yes, I do that." "What a great idea." "Why didn't I think of that." You get the picture. All this sounds great, but I have to admit, I have hair mail arriving tomorrow.
What a beautiful, kind caring soul you are. Your videos are so enjoyable and encouraging for so many. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. One day at a time, celebrate the smallest things each and every day, take time for yourself, reach out when you need to and do so with the knowledge that you are much loved. This topic is one that needs addressing in so many ways...thank you for sharing.
This is a great topic Denise! Our issue of hair loss is such an emotional issue and being able to have hair to play with is an amazing new experience that can be like a drug. God bless you all on this journey!
I have been struggling myself lately with wig buying and am proud to have resisted the black friday sales. I have started a "wig fund" and every week I put some money in the envelope. I also have a prepaid debit card and that is what I use to purchase wigs. You can't spend what you don't have! :) In reference to your last comments I too have been in a dark place. When I get down I tell myself this is what has to happen for people to see the evil around us. I can't tell you the number of people who I would term "asleep" that has "woken up". I get some comfort from this. Thanks you for all you do, Denise! Blessings to you and your family!
You're AWESOME, and your videos, especially this one, are so helpful! Yes, styling DEFINITELY feeds the addiction, but in a healthy way, and I'm styling rather than buying right now. Much Love from New Mexico USA!
I remember trying so hard to find "the perfect wig" eventually realizing that it never would manifest itself...the world tells us we will achieve perfection on the outside and then be happy...it's a lie. Knowing that God is no respecter of persons and that He loves me the same on my worst day as He does on my best day helps me to accept and love myself whether I choose to wear a wig or not. Considering all the time I spent online looking at wigs, I could have researched a charity where the amount of money I would have spent on another wig could be used to help others. And the feelings God would impart to my soul would outweigh any I would get from the hairmail. God bless you, Denise for discussing this and may you truly feel once again that "the Joy of the Lord is your strength". Remember that no matter how bad the world becomes, He is still on the throne. Keep your faith in Him, for it is impossible to please God without faith and He may be using this time to bring you closer to Him.💜💜💜
I found you a week or so ago and have been binge watching your videos. I am so Blessed to have watched this video to the very end. I, too, am Christian and sometimes feel "blank". I understand exactly how you feel. I read The Bible every day or every other day and also read Daily Devotions. May GOD Bless you and grant you Peace and Comfort that ONLY HE can GIVE!
Ty I needed this. 😢 The loss of hair hits hard. I bought 7 just this holiday trying to find the right one. Just been diagnoses with a small brain cancer this year. The medicine they gave me made me lose so much of my hair. The tumor is in an inoperable location. You are doing your calling. I feeling it deeply. Don’t doubt yourself. You are in the right place. Keep it up baby girl.🙏🙏🙏
Denise, thanks for the straight talk, wig sister-to-sister. Such wonderful and timely advice since I’m new to wig-wearing and can see how easy it would be to get out of control. God bless you for having a heart to share what you’ve been through to help others. You look fabulous in Sarah! Love the color!
You hit the mark, Denise! Your original addiction video helped me so much in my beginning, and my buying has slowed down considerably. Yes, I still have too many wigs, but I feel much more in control. Spreadsheets help tremendously. I was so surprised when I did my first inventory, from which I have deleted and added a lot to over the past 18 months. Eye opening! Your closing words blessed me this morning. Thank you, sweet friend. I do pray for you.
Thank you for being so open and honest with this topic and your personal experience. I just started my wig journey a month ago and already feel that I’ve spent a lot more than I should. It can truly be addicting to finally have the hair that I have been longing for for many decades. You are correct, this is a deeply emotional process. I did the spreadsheet as you suggested, and it was very eye opening and extremely helpful. Thank you for all you do Denise!
Sister's may get addicted to buying wigs... I'm one of them...but I am addicted to you! Every morning I check your TH-cam page to find a video I haven't seen yet and listen to it when I am applying my make up! I can't help myself😂. Thank you so much for everything you do!!
Oh My Goodness, what a timely video! I agree 100% with you and with the many encouraging, insightful comments posted. You are a huge blessing and help to me on several levels and you are genuine and practical and kind. I have snoozed all other wig related sites except yours. You cheer me up! I will pray for you dear sister, that the joy of the Lord would be your strength. Depression and anxiety is on the rise, no surprise there. Practically, you might try to get out in nature and take a short walk. Sometimes you may need to put the nonessentials on hold and take a "feed your soul" retreat for a portion of your day. Watch the birds, sky gaze, listen to peaceful, relaxing music, engage in an activity that brings you delight (not wig buying, haha). Sometimes the serotonin levels drop and you may need short term assistance. There was a period in my life where I was on something and it was a great help. No shame for medical help. Just saying. With regard to my wig buying, it IS a struggle not to accumulate more. All of your tips are worthy of consideration and I appreciate the thought you put into this video. I think my word for the new year will be Contentment. A work in progress!!! Thanks Denise!!! Love you back, Sis!
The first few months I started wig wearing I was like a kid in a candy store. I spent too much and made too many mistakes! However I wasn't too hard on myself because I accepted this was just me reacting to the joy of discovering a hairloss solution at last. Now I've learned what suits me in terms of style and colour I've reigned myself in. I limit myself to having half a dozen everyday wigs on the go which I replace one by one as they start to look worn - and one 'party' piece which I keep for occasional wear. Sometimes people describe themselves as wig collectors. Perhaps they are and for them its manageable however it can send out the wrong message that owning dozens of wigs is a good thing - and I do wonder if this is an attempt to legitimise their own wig buying addiction? As a child it was drummed into me that you don't buy things you can't pay for (apart from a house!) so the credit aspect has never been a problem (thanks mom and dad!)
I am inspired by how practical you are with this!! We try to teach our kids the exact same about credit. My son is a senior in college and he is bombarded with credit card offers and is constantly being told he needs to build his credit. So far we've talked him off that ledge but the world is definitely build for people to be debtors which is awful. We tell our kids that if you owe money then you are a slave.... which is why I knew things had gotten out of control when I was going against all my values on that.
Great video! I am so addicted! Always looking for the perfect wig. I am petite or petite/average so it’s difficult to find the right fit and color. I have wasted so much money. Sometimes I keep a wig thinking I will get used to the color. Thanks for letting us know we aren’t the only one. But after 10 years I am finally learning the colors that look good on me. Talking to someone helped me the most with my depression. I am Christian also. Thanks again.
Greetings Denise! I really enjoyed this video with you. I know for me, I always am looking for a comfortable cap in a wig. I really am not purchasing very much right now because when I am home I tend not to wear wigs as much. Although, I should try one on every day, to at least play with them and style them! Cataloging them sounds like a fabulous suggestion. You know, I am struggling too spiritually. It is nice to know we're not alone! Love and blessings ❤ 🙏
Boy oh boy, have I ever seen this in the community. In the beginning, we all buy a few, probably more than we should, in order to learn what works and what doesn't, but when we settle on most styles and colors that work, that really should slow down. I have seen women buy five or six in a live sale then do the same exact thing the next week as well. Being very thrifty as a couple, living on a military pension and SS, plus with me being in charge of the bills, I have an obligation to control my impulses, I feel. We all make some missteps along the way and no one is immune to those, for sure! I currently own only four wigs and two are for sale, but I've had as many as 13-14 at one time. To be fair, most of those were purchased on the secondhand market, which I still prefer to do if I am not sure about a style or color. Excellent video.
I’m in this stage right now. Recently buzz cut and bought my first needed wig, but constantly on the lookout and buying whenever some money comes in. However I’ve fortunately gone to a wig shop and tried a few, realized I don’t look good with curls at all, and that anything ashy is a no go. Besides a long wig pulled to the side and revealed my nape so it showed it was a wig. That got rid of the desire for long wigs, that BLUE ONE i absolutely craved, and a lot of the beach waves ones. So eliminating by trial or what you already know takes away a lot of temptation 🎉
Great video, Denise. You look great in the Sarah wig. I have a serious wig addiction. I could have bought an expensive new car or perhaps a significant down payment on a house-heck, maybe a house! I make sure all bills are paid but anything extra I consider is "wig money." Vacations or wig money? Going out to eat or wig money? etc... This is over a period of ten years, but I have hundreds (more than 350) of wigs- mostly human hair but lately I'm buying synthetics again. I have total hair loss so I do need a wig but my wig buying is clearly an addiction. I love how the wigs make me feel and I love getting hair mail. I was really bad over the black Friday week- 7 new ones! New Years Resolution: no more wigs!!!! I'm going to focus on what I have and donate many.
Oh I needed this. I haven’t purchased many wigs in the last few months but in the beginning, glory be! I really have about 15 wigs I’ve never worn and have to sell. I already donated about the same number to Wendy’s group! 🤦🏻♀️ I have made many color mistakes and they were all clearance wigs 😬 I’m trying to figure out away to sell some the only thing is, most are in boxes but I don’t have the tag with the names on them. So I can’t fill out the form to sell on some of the Facebook wig selling sites. Great video and thank you for the idea of logging the wigs! It’s a great idea and I’ll try to log the ones I know the names of. We are trying to purge a ton of things as we are getting ready to sell our house and downsize. After being in this house since 1978 you can only imagine what we have here😬😱 Thanks for the inspiration at the end of your video. It really was needed ❤️. Hugs, girlfriend and have a blessed day 💕
Denise, this was so helpful! I thought I was alone and now I know I’m not, so it made me feel so much better! We all love you Denise, you’re the best!!!
Wonderful...I hardly know what to say. I've just donated a second pile of wigs in 6 months. Similarly, I couldn't even muster up the energy to try and sell some of them. I don't feel happiness very often these days. Work situation is frustrating and discouraging, marriage is difficult. I think you are absolutely correct that the more shame we feel, the more likely it can be triggering compulsive behavior. When I find I have made a purchase that doesn't work for me, my hope is that I will find the courage to reach out to other wig wearers to find it a better "home". I love watching reviews, but I did stop and think about the impact on my purchasing. I realized I have been influenced to purchase multiple times after watching reviews, so I need to keep that in mind! Reviews definitely can be helpful--they can help us make better decisions, but I may need to avoid them for a while. Thank you so much for what you do! I may not always be on the same page as you are about sharing faith/Christianity, but I absolutely believe you are sincere and are truly motivated to encourage others to find comfort and purpose through faith. We are not alone. You are not alone! I hope joy finds you more often, and you can appreciate how much your message means to others!
Oh, Carol. It breaks my heart to hear that life is difficult right now. I know what that is like, in ALL the same areas you mentioned. I was in an alcoholic marriage for 12 years, and had so many struggles during that time. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Sending you lots of hugs and love.
@@heywigsister Thank you for your prayers! And a thank you for your courage in sharing such topics as impulsive purchasing and depression. I will say a prayer for you too! Just remember you have so many people who appreciate you and care about you. We all need to remember we are not alone, and that life is a wonderful thing. I know I feel better when I can do something to help others and share what I have.
This is amazing. I am so addicted and this has helped me so much. I am trying to venture through makeup and clothes now at least they are not so expensive. Thanks for bringing this cause i am struggling. Thankyou.
My addiction was pretty strong at the beginning (1-1/2 years ago) but I'm much better now. I won't buy unless I'm SURE I will wear it on a regular basis. I don't know how women can afford to buy so many Jon Renau and Raquel Welch Wigs. I'm so envious, but the ones I want are out of reach for me. Lately it seems like all the new wigs are $300-$400!-$500
I feel for those people, it's very tempting to order more and more, everyone has sales and promotions and the need to have nice hair is sometimes overwhelming, lucky for me or maybe because I am a lot older I have common sense, I have 10 wigs and it's more then I can wear monthly, especially now with the pandemic when we are home most of the time, I also have other interests and so I must know how to manage my money really well but I do feel for those people, great video and so good you are helping, stay well.
Hi Denise. So what I have been doing!!! I just have to write down and keep track of what doesn't work! I don't need any new hair for a decade!!! I am going to use restraint with all purchases from now on. Need to keep track of my yarn purchases too!😁 I do really think before I buy. Put stuff in my cart then remove after I wait a bit. I did just buy several wigs that I love that are being discontinued.🤔🙄. My favorite wig of all time and most comfortable. Now I am good!! Thank you for this helpful video and a reminder that we all don't need a hundred wigs!! Stopping watching reviews helps a lot. But tips and styling videos! There really isn't anything style wise that is so "new" and special. Hope you are feeling well!💜 It can be sooooooo much fun to restyle the wigs we already own!👸 The struggle is very bad in this world! We need to uplift each other. I have had some very stressful family issues that had me broken. I am on the mend but missing part of my family which is not right!
Oh, gosh.... adding you to my prayer list for the challenges you are facing. Thank you so much for sharing your learnings as well- it is so helpful to hear how others are managing and it gives me strength!
I, too, don't carry credit card balances. I learned that lesson the hard way and have never looked back. I love this color on your and it's my new fav color group for me! Finally getting out of the #6 choc browns. And I loved the encouragement at the end, girlfriend. 💕💕
Hi Denise Great topic for sure. I started wearing wigs 6 months ago for hair loss related to an auto immune disorder. I found I had to keep buying wigs to find the right style & color for me. Buying online is not always successful and of course returned many wigs. In fact yesterday returned 3 wigs related to the wrong color. So for the past 6 months I have 3 wigs I don’t wear and have modified in an effort to make them work …which still did not suit me. I would be happy to send to you if you can use or pass on. Let me know if this would be helpful. Thanks so much for all your informative videos. Eva 🙏🏻🌹
Hi Denise, I loved your chat at the end about struggling with all the evil around us & how Jesus precious love can get us through. God Bless you wig sister & sister in Christ Jesus 🙏❤️✝️ Thanks for all of your tutorials, I’m a baby wig sister & you’ve been a great big sister 🤗😍
This is the first time I’ve ever watched you, I wanted to learn about wigs. You are wonderful, you are an inspiration…in many ways other than just wigs! Thank you for being you! And that wig and colour look amazing on you 😊 keep up the great work!!
Funny that I am watching this ... I have not even purchased a wig yet😳🙄🙄🙄 I cannot afford a super expensive one and it is so hard to color match🤷♀️ Thank you for all of the info ~~~ more than that~~ THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU🙏🏼😇
Thanks! I don’t have an addiction because I don’t have the funds! However the last two I’ve bought I was disappointed in them, one is the color & the back wasn’t as long as ones shown on others on YT. The 2nd the sides was too bushy, sent it back. Thought the wig you have on was short & cute, till you turned around & it’s an updo! Nicely done!
@@heywigsister yur soooo right Denise!!!!. Blessings, with a whole lota love sending yur way💕. I'm not a wig sister!, but / I've sure have learned a lot. Bought 2 ( very expensive wigs) a couple of yrs ago. Ended up giving them away because i didn't look good in them & they looked like a wig!!!. Than a yr later bought another expensive one that just sits on my dresser covered up!. But/ i have learned so much from watching now & than yur channel. U, always make them ( wigs) come alive!!!!💕 & they ALWAYS look so good on u. Blessings💕🙏
Oh yes the addiction is very real! I had to and I'm still doing it cut myself off from most videos, support groups, anything that has to do with wigs in order to stop my spending. My motto became I see I want I get and now I have many wigs that I haven't even tried on, that are the wrong style, and mostly the wrong color. I will probably have the wigs that I know I don't like donated to someone who needs them because I'm not very good nor comfortable selling wigs or selling anything for that matter. I would just feel so much better if I could help someone else out so that's why I believe I will go the donation route. But yes the struggle is still real and every once in awhile I'll catch someone's review and I think oh I would like that wig and it would look good on me and then I remember... Wait I don't go anywhere so why do I need all of these wigs. But thank you for other suggestions I'm sure people will find them very helpful and I appreciate everything you do for us out here in wig cyberland. Thank you and have a blessed day.
I love that you're donating your unworn wigs, there are many women with hair loss that cannot afford to even buy $20 Amazon wigs, let alone Jon Renau, Raquel Welch, Belle Tress, etc. That is my situation, and I thank you for your kindness in sharing hair with sisters in need.
@@pamelaberry2668You're very kind to ask. My sensitive scalp likes monofilament top, due to medical issues, I am interested in bobs, midlength, shoulder (14-18in) length. I like brunette, reds, and blondes.
Hi Denise! New wig wearer here. THANK YOU for all your wonderful information and guidance. I was so concerned and overwhelmed about purchases that I new I needed a spreadsheet to keep track of brands, styles, colors that worked or didn't from the start. I've since discovered I definitely need an average/large at a minimum. Average just won't work as I have a big crown...circumference is not an issue...took a few returns to figure out why they kept riding up my head. It's been a couple months but I will soon have 3 in a color to match my natural hair. Debutante short shag that I use for my career video calls (tight, so I just leave my natural hair hang out the back...on video no one can tell and my hair length/color matches ha ha). Soft & Subtle that I needed to layer around the face, thin the sides and add bangs to make it work for me but love it now, especially with a sqhair band. And, have a Angelique on the way for ponytails and updos. So thankful that I've not been tempted by marketing because I'm way too picky about the styles that work for me, and a blessing in disguise, that I'm limited by larger sizes...limits the temptation for sure! So glad my thinning hair became an issue while WFH with only an occasional video call, so I've had time to work through this. I was determined to make this work after 2 years of accepting that my hairline won't be growing back. Feels like I've almost arrived. Will wear my first in public to a doctor's appt in a couple weeks. For the gym and day-to-day...I've always loved my baseball caps with my curly pony. BLESS YOU AND THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO! :)
Hi!!! First of all, I LOVE your screen name!! Second, I just love this and love that you have embraced wig wearing in such a healthy, positive, "can do" way. Yay you! Seriously, though. This process can cause so much anxiety for women that it just breaks my heart. Hearing a story like yours being so much life and hope to me. Welcome to the wig sisterhood! Hugs for your first public outing.... would love to hear how it goes!
😂 Buying wigs is like buying clothes. Easy to go overboard. I had to guffaw at your video title because wig videos are selling something. So fun, but more temptation. I count the wigs I haven’t worn yet which helps me.
I know.... I struggle a little sometimes because I can be part of the problem with all the wig reviews, which is why I am trying to provide balance by also providing a lot of education content to help with the journey and make good use of the wigs people already have. Life is all about balance, right?
Thanks so much Denise for the tips. I soooooo need not to purchase wigs at least for the next year. I am getting one for my birthday but after that I will try to be good and Not buy any more wigs. I need to pay off the ones I got and then I too don't want to buy any wigs unless I have the money saved for them.
I cannot afford the wigs I want. But I do still check them out!!! I guess we are always looking for THE ONE!!!! I would love to see you talk about what to do with wigs we want to give away. From wading them to shipping them. Where do we find people to donate them to. Things like that.
Great discussion Denise. Gladly, I don't have that problem. In the two (maybe three years), I've been wearing wigs, I've only bought five wigs. The first two were the same and looked pretty realistic for $60 wigs! Unfortuately, it takes a lot of effort on my part to make a wig work for me. So, I hate buying wigs, but I have to. I currently have a beautiful $340 (I think) wig which I cut bangs into it. But, it's just in a box, and I will probably never wear it in public. Haven't really worn it at home either other than just to see how it looks on me - hate it! Is there some place you can donate "mostly new wigs" to help others out? Btw, that wig your're wearing looks great on you!
I recently had a couple wigs in my cart and slept on it for a couple days. I guess because I wasn't purchasing them right away, after a couple days that wig company sent me an email offering a 15% discount on the 2 wigs I had in my cart. I did choose to buy the wigs but didn't use that discount they offered because I already had a better one. But I wanted to share this experience because if you're not in a hurry and you don't already have a discount, it may be worth a try to wait a couple days and see if they offer a discount.
I have spent literally thousands of dollars on wigs and still have not found the one I love! I have given away probably 30 or more and still have probably 12 or more! Frustrating to say the least.
Maybe this won't be read, I'm financially destroyed at present so no wig buying, but before this happened, when the wig buying bug bit me, I would buy a similar wig instead of the expensive one, on Amazon. The most I spent was probably $25 with free shipping. Hope this helps someone.
My wig buying is the opposite. I don’t know which one to buy. And then I don’t know what vendors are reputable!! Then I can’t find the wigs I have my eye on. I’m soooooo confused.
Hi Denise. Great info on wig buying addiction. This comes at a critical point in my own wig journey so thank you! Also, I love the bangs on the wig you’re wearing, very natural. I have a short forehead with a pronounced widow’s peak so I wind up trimming bangs in almost every wig I’ve bought in order hide the hairline. A professional stylist I am not so do you have any suggestions for bangs accidentally trimmed too short? Many thanks and God bless!
Thanks for your lovely comment!! The only things I can think of to manage a wig with too short bangs would be to pull them back and clip them if the wig has a lace front or to make it into a headband wig by cutting a bit of the front off and wearing with a headband. I don't have a video showing that but will add it to the list.
Just thought of one more... try pulling it forward a bit to see if it looks OK that way... will make the bangs seem longer but not sure how it will lay...
@@heywigsister Thanks very much for your suggestions. Yes, I think pulling the cap down just a bit more than usual will work. I also switched parts to the right and found the hair and bangs laid much better. Keep up the great reviews and tips! You are speaking to and for so many of us!! Love, your Wig Sis, Christina
I haven't bought my first wig yet, but had an addiction to buying products for my 3d art hobby online. No physical purchases, just downloading zip files. I was buying something several times a week because I wanted the new product releases. I just had to have them, but I have thousands of products I've never used . One day I actually looked at my cc balance and it scared me to death. I had
Thank you so much for sharing! Knowing others have struggled and overcome is such a blessing. I agree that not having the temptation of a CC is a huge thing. Right now I am working on reducing our monthly expenses because of all the uncertainty in the world. I cannot seem to keep my health on an even track and we simply cannot count on me to work and keep us afloat so I see my job as helping us live more frugally. It is a hard job because I like to try new things and suddenly love makeup, but knowing others are doing the same helps me so much! I imagine my sisters making good choices day after day and then I do the same. GOOD Job on the car and the freezer! We paid off my minivan 3.5 years early and now I am in the process of keeping that sucker running as long as possible (with my husband's help, of course, and all his mechanic skills). It has almost 120,000 miles on it and is 9 years old and I cannot even imagine having a car payment at this point. Praying I can drive that baby another 5 years. As long as it is not a bucket of rust I am not worried about it being old... I'd rather be free of debt!!

100% yes! It is amazing how we can trick ourselves into anything if we want it bad enough. 🧡
Offering gratitude to those wig sisters who have donated hair to share with sisters in need, thank you, love and blessings to you all🙏💖✨
My biggest problem with over buying wigs was trying to find a good color!
So well said!! Agree 1000%
Sending you HUGE HUGS... I'm so grateful that you are walking this journey with me!
❤️ Sharon
Yes Sharon!! Our hope and Joy is in Him. From a Sharon in N.J. My middle name is Joy! 😃😃
@@sharondamico4136 Your parents gave you a great middle name! 💕
You do make a huge difference in our lives. I am a Christian and you ministry touches me. Praying for you too!
Yes, so emotional. Hugs!!
Wow I loved this video Denise and no you certainly don't ramble I could listen to you all day! Thank you for all your wonderful videos 👍😍
Thank you so much! HUGS and God bless you!
Hugs and thank you so much for being here and taking time to comment. Welcome to the wig sisterhood!
Also thank you for the Christian moment at the end. It actually brought tears to my eyes, my friend.
Love you my friend.
Just wanted to thank you, Denise. I find your videos to be uplifting and worthwhile. The time flies by while watching them. Keeping you in my prayers.
Thank you so much! Sending you hugs!
Big hugs, I am so grateful that this experience is being used for good!!
Watching this a year after you made this video . I really needed to hear this message! God bless you Denise
Oh Denise! Thanks SOOO much for this! Your inventory tip is just what I needed.
Great topic! Hair loss can be extremely depressing and anxiety producing and some of us spend money to make the feeling go away, temporarily.
After being in this house since 1978 you can only imagine what we have here😬😱
Thanks for the inspiration at the end of your video. It really was needed ❤️. Hugs, girlfriend and have a blessed day 💕
I have been keeping you in my prayers as I think about the huge job you have to get ready to sell. 🧡🧡🧡
Denise, this was so helpful! I thought I was alone and now I know I’m not, so it made me feel so much better! We all love you Denise, you’re the best!!!
I love you, too! HUGS!
thank you so much Denise. you are positive and honest with this issue and it was great to hear you speak on this
Wonderful...I hardly know what to say.
I guess that's a hidden blessing of being on a fixed income. I have been fortunate to have been gifted a couple of wigs.
Fantastic Topic, Yes we need to be careful. There are so many Beautiful styles and colors! Hugs to you Dear
😙❤🌻
just watched to the end and thank you for sharing , it helps to know I am not the only one
You are definitely not alone.
Wonderful video, thanks so much for sharing !!
Thank you so much!! I really needed this in so many ways. I appreciate your videos💕
I, too, don't carry credit card balances. I learned that lesson the hard way and have never looked back. I love this color on your and it's my new fav color group for me! Finally getting out of the #6 choc browns. And I loved the encouragement at the end, girlfriend. 💕💕
Hi Denise
Great topic for sure.
Eva 🙏🏻🌹
Which wigs do you have and the colors? Just started wig buying 6 months ago
Hi Denise, I loved your chat at the end about struggling with all the evil around us & how Jesus precious love can get us through. God Bless you wig sister & sister in Christ Jesus 🙏❤️✝️
Thanks for all of your tutorials, I’m a baby wig sister & you’ve been a great big sister 🤗😍
Thank you so much for your support and sharing your faith!! Welcome to the wig sisterhood as well!!!
This is the first time I’ve ever watched you, I wanted to learn about wigs. You are wonderful, you are an inspiration…in many ways other than just wigs! Thank you for being you! And that wig and colour look amazing on you 😊 keep up the great work!!
Thank you so much!!!
Funny that I am watching this ...
I have not even purchased a wig yet😳🙄🙄🙄
I cannot afford a super expensive one and it is so hard to color match🤷♀️
Thank you for all of the info ~~~ more than that~~ THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU🙏🏼😇
Thank you for this video. I just started my wig journey & I am guilty of buying and returning many wigs. This reminds me to rein it in.
Wow, is that a wig yur wearing!!!!. Looks soooo real on u.....💕
Right? Just goes to show that a much used wig shouldn't always be relegated to the trash bin. Nothing looks more real then a messy, frizzy updo!
Blessings💕🙏
You are beautiful Denise, thank you for all those tips. Love your videos!
I’ve been through this 😞. I had 7 delivered in one day once! I reined myself in and only get what I’d like and NEED not whimsical spending.
@@virgoyogini5377 May I ask what type wig you are looking for? Length, color?
@@pamelaberry2668You're very kind to ask. My sensitive scalp likes monofilament top, due to medical issues, I am interested in bobs, midlength, shoulder (14-18in) length. I like brunette, reds, and blondes.
@@virgoyogini5377 is there any way to PM you?
@@pamelaberry2668 are you on Facebook? What is your name there? I needed to change my name on here...
I just love you! I need to keep this information in mind so I don’t develop the problem.
Oh my goodness This certainly does speak to me, why does this happen ugh
Thanks so much Denise for the tips. I soooooo need not to purchase wigs at least for the next year. I am getting one for my birthday but after that I will try to be good and Not buy any more wigs. I need to pay off the ones I got and then I too don't want to buy any wigs unless I have the money saved for them.
hair mail* 🥰thankyou for all your encouraging words
Love to you 💝
Thanks for all you do to help others
Awww, thank you so much!!
I cannot afford the wigs I want. But I do still check them out!!! I guess we are always looking for THE ONE!!!!
I would love to see you talk about what to do with wigs we want to give away. From wading them to shipping them. Where do we find people to donate them to. Things like that.
You just answered my comment about donations!!!!!
Wonderful video Thank you!
Thanks for watching, Linda!!
Great tip!!
I have spent literally thousands of dollars on wigs and still have not found the one I love! I have given away probably 30 or more and still have probably 12 or more! Frustrating to say the least.
Hi Denise! This is off topic, but I was wondering if you wear your wigs when you're staying home? Every day wig wearer? Stay blessed! ❤😇
Thanks…. Great job! ❤
Thanks for watching!
Girl I've lost my mind buying so many.
