Informative video. However, I’d like to make 2 suggestions
    1) wash each leaf, especially close to the root part to rid of dirt, before cut them up
    2) Don’t discard the squeeze out chopped leaves yet! Put it in a pot and fill with 2-3 cups of water. Bring to a boil then lower the heat to cook for a few minutes more. Let it cool down. Strain then discard the leaves. Use the pandan “tea” as is or infused tea into it for a pandan flavored tea

Thank you so much for watching! Yes, there are lots of dirt in between the leaves and I mentioned it @1:50 to wash it throughly. I personally like to wash it after cutting so it’s smaller in size so that it is easier to wash. The leaves are quite long. Cutting it ensures all of the leaves can submerge under the water while I run my thumbs through every layer. I also change the water a few times before blending it.
Someone else did mention to use the fibres to make tea. Something I might try next time I make the extract. Thanks for the tip!

Very nice and informative video. I ate buko panden dessert in Philippines and since then, this is my favourite. However I always used artificial concentrate for this. I have never seen a planden plant. A few days back I discovered that an aromatic plant, having fragrant rice is available around that has similarities with panden leaf. I will try to extract some juice from that and see whether they are the same. Wish me luck 🤞

Pandan leaves grow in North America as well as Palm Leafs.

Pandan grows in plenty in Southern India but it's known as Annapurna, Rambha or Basmati leaves!!

I love ❤️ pandan. What dishes do you make with it? Or do you only use it for desserts?

A couple of typos in the ingredients list for one of the store bought brands. Edited below.
Ingredients: Glucose syrup, sorbitol syrup, artificial pandan flavor, propylene glycol, coloring (FC & C Yellow #5), modified starch, artificial vanilla flavour, coloring (FD & C blue #1), ethyl maltol.

Can the pandan extract be frozen? Thank you!

You can freeze it, but I find freezing will change the taste a bit and won’t smell as nice.
