The "adult language" is the funniest thing - gives the lie to notion the family was "squeaky clean," teens didn't swear - and the rest you can imagine. A good show though it's been a LONG time since I saw an episode.
I love both Valerie Bertinellis reaction to Mackenzie Phillips messing up her lines, and Mackenzies reaction to Valerie. Oh Baby, Oh Baby, you just Fuck Off.
I know.....I saw her in an interview......maybe she was on Ellen.....and she said that while making the show she thought she was ugly......but looking back, at her reruns.......she said now.......she thought she looks cute.
@@stevations I remember one thing that people complained about her was how she was so sweet and innocent, like that was a bad thing. That was what attracted me to her. She was so cute and nice and DEFINITELY gorgeous!
She was always a hoot in her appearance as the up-tight teacher, and in that one classic episode with her plant "pets' that she treated as if they were alive--but then absent-mindedly when talking to Barbara, she started pulliing off its leaves! "Oh, ,dear, did I hurt you?" Then in one of the funniest lines I always remembered and laughed at, when she said the plant died, Julie hilariously rhetorically asked, "Can you give flowers to flowers?"
"Barbara Jean Cooper! Come in, sexpot, close the door!" I laughed when Ann used her full name and the description of her trying to be a sex goddess in that episode ("Barbara's Emergence" Oct. 1976), where Barbara (the gorgeous Valerie, then 16) is trying to use her increasing sex appeal to get more boys to notice her. After saying to many guys at school that she was "on the pill" (she wasn't) and then came home, Ann heard about it then, coming out with her three names, and the unexpected but hilarious, angry "sexpot' line. Another line by Ann after talking to Barbara also was memorable: "If you said you were on the pill, you'd better be!" Some excellent script writing in many of its episodes, and Ann's temper to Barbara entering their apartment was top-of-the-line outstanding!
#RIPSchneider As a kid growing up with no father I really related to One Day at a Time show, it helped me get through some rough times as a child. TV shows can do that for you at times, especially good ones. Need more quality TV shows. Pat Harrington died from ALZ and that's even sadder. On an up note here's an episode when Luke Skywalker was guest star HA! th-cam.com/video/tDqWxGjm_Bc/w-d-xo.html
I was watching an afternoon of reruns of the show yesterday and that's when I learned of his passing. I didn't have a father growing up either and I watched this show every week. On Antenna TV I started watching the show again about a month ago every day. it's been nice to revisit those characters. I didn't really realize what a big impact they'd had on me until Bonnie passed and now Pat. Im pretty sad. TV raised me. There was never a time that it wasn't on.
The whole cast were the best. I love the bloopers esp between Valerie and Mackenzie. It is too bad she got fired. I wished Mackenzie would come back to tv.
@@rotunda57 I finally got over her, in the biggest crush I ever had on a tv actress, growing up in the late-'70s, with her the hottest young woman on tv!
Pancreatic cancer is one of the toughest to diagnose and treat. Alcohol can raise the risk. I lost my mom to it and she only drank wine occasionally. I wish Bonnie was a spokesperson for the issue but it takes people away quickly.....unfortunately not painlessly. With my mom the hospital would not give more pain medicine, the hospital said they could get sued if the pain medicine killed her. So they let her lie in agony for weeks until she died. The hospital made more money.
I am sorry for your loss. Did your mom take medication before the cancer? Even if someone doesn't drink alcohol regularly, I wouldn't be surprised if people who take a bunch of pills would have a compromised pancreas.
So very sorry. Hospitals let people suffer because they're afraid of being sued. Went through so much odf this with my Dad who passed 11 years ago. He would start to do better then they would say "we need to do this" and he would get worse. Back and forth , wish we had gotten him out. They did that until they killed him. Sorry, hearing what your Mom went through brought it back. Take care. I watched the episode of Hot In Cleveland with Bonnie on it last night. So good to have seen her and Valerie together one last time.
When Schneider first appears, he talks of a Wife...where was she? Also, anyone remember the one time Barbara wore a VH, Van Halen necklace? Last episode is touching with my favorite character Schneider.
Ya ur right he mentions her in the pilot. Then subsequent episode he says he's been divorced 10 years. He made a very direct pass at Ann right from the beginning and she rebuffed him in that way. Yet they had a real special friendship for that entire 9 years... on that episode where she packs up & leaves he's practically in tears and mentions he had feelings for her. (He says this brokenly as he's holding in the emotions) (Pat was such an amazing actor)
@videozfann - Truth be told, Pat Harrington Jr. was essential for the successful formula of this show. His comedic timing to Bonnie Franklin's "straight" character was priceless.
I guess I always thought these actors would be more professional while they were working. Here they are dropping F bombs on stage in front of a live audience. I guess people don't have any shame any longer.
Nothing beats a LIVE AUDIENCE for any Classic Sitcom !!😁
Valerie is soooo young . RIP Pat and Bonnie
And RIP Mackenzie.
@EFunkRock um what??? Mackenzie us still alive!
They seemed like they had such fun on the set and such good chemistry.
Never seen bloopers from "One Day at a Time". Love this. Need more!!!!

I forgot how much I loved this show.
R.I.P Bonnie Thanks for the great entertainment you left us you will be missed.
I love it when the actors crack up before they even say anything!
Best background hum I've heard for years
I so love the 70s and 80s sitcoms I have more imagination than they do now

Rest In Peace, Mr Harrington.
My favorite show back then, Valerie was so gorgeous 😍 my fantasy girl 😋💋❤🥰🥰
Valerie was such a cutie.
Still is
Ms.Bertinelli still a beautiful and talented and sweet person..even though..she no longer performs on tv.
Still is
@@kevinbutler1955NYC she's back, she has her own cooking show
Yes..I know that she hosting a cooking show on Cable TV..Sparra..but..she has made it clear..Ms.Bertinelli doesn't want to act on tv..anymore.
No reboots lets just enjoy the classics. Reboots will ruin it.
Most underated show of it's time
Back when there was Live audiences
God I loved this show 🤗💜💙
Missing the multi talented Bonnie awesome Franklin. Rest in Peace lovely lady❤
Bonnie Franklin was very sexy, more than her daughters
The real one day at a time not the garbage out now.
The Alice Ghostly stuff is hysterical.
She was always a hoot in her appearance as the up-tight teacher, and in that one classic episode with her plant "pets' that she treated as if they were alive--but then absent-mindedly when talking to Barbara, she started pulliing off its leaves! "Oh, ,dear, did I hurt you?" She was great in everything she was in.
Alice Ghostly recurred on Good Times, too, as a social worker character.
Used to watch this....dang.....used to wear these clothes!! 70s teen life
God Bless You Bonnie...R.I.P.
RIP Ms. Franklin and Mr. Harrington

Yes!

She has been on TV
I saw her on an episode of Criminal Minds
I didn’t recognize her at first tho

I watch the reboot of One Day at a Time, but it's amazing to see the first version of the show.
Valerie Bertinelli had a crush on her
outtakes were funnier than the show
@redmr2na I agree they did seem like sisters!
WAS these on the DVD'S at all?
Yes. Google one day at a time DVD set. I'd make sure the address is in the US and it says region 1 for US.
A funny clip!

I think Pat’s pride of trying to make Schneider intelligent did him in. He should have rode the creep and had his own show.
