Steinlager CNF World Record Freedive 102m

- In July 2016, I broke my longstanding (5.5 years!) record in the purest freediving discipline, Constant Weight No Fins, by swimming to 102 meters (334 feet) and back on a single breath of air, and with no propulsive assistance. The dive was televised to breakfast TV in NZ, and sponsored by Steinlager Pure.
Featured in the video are safety divers Jonathan Sunnex, Dean Chaouche and Sofia Gomez, announcer Shiv Madhu, medics Tom Ardavany and Jani Valdivia, and AIDA judges Carla-Sue Hanson and Rob King.
No goggles, no fins, no rope climbing, just Man and Ocean. Marvelous, absolutely marvelous. Well done.
I’ve tried this a few times and managed to go 32 meters deep. I have no idea how this is even humanly possible. Full respect.

When the safety diver waits at 40m, you know this is a badass dive.
Going down at 102m by itself is an amazing achievement. Going down there with no fins though... This is a whole different story. Most extraordinary world record I have ever witnessed.
Yeah and also going down and back up, he basically went 204m!
Going down is the easy bit (after 20m as one's heavier than water it's a controlled fall), it's the climbing back up that's really hard because one has to resist going too fast (which could result in a blackout and drowning) while pushing (with no fins!).
Bloon😁😁
@@joneh9483 i am also thinking same
Which is the sense to do this? Which?? Death? What a stupid and insane way to die!
Absolutely unbelievable. Proof that the human body can pushed beyond the limits we all set ourselves. Truly and utterly inspiring.
The Pale Man m
True... Everyday u go gym.. U also can see what happen to your body if u push the limits
It's a lot of training, breaking our limits it's not just like that, you full
The Pale Man
The Pale Man
It's Mind over Matter. It's Matter that we set our limits on. I beleive a person can do most anythignthey put their Mind to. The Mind is Most Poweful!
That's insane, that they can hold their breath for that long. Plus the deeper you go, the greater the pressure. Fuuuuuuuck that!!!
Michael Vendick and the warmer it gets
@@idontknowwhattoput7944 that's crazy man. Props to those people who do that. They are either brave or crazy as fuck, or both, lol
@@idontknowwhattoput7944 it gets colder and swings around 2degrees Celsius
It gets warmer like pussy for example. You like that don't you?
That's nothing 4 minutes th-cam.com/video/L89kY5ewgqU/w-d-xo.html check this dude out
Why I am getting out of breath while watching this..?
Sammmme !!!!!
Lolll same here
It's very difficult to swim up at 100m deep, you are so compressed that your body sinks rapidly by itself. This record is extremely impressive... Immense respect for you sir.
So much love.
An inspiration of the human spirit even in 2020.
Out of this world achievement, and really great video!
Lungs have left the chat
Hahahaha
Wtf..😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂🤣
Hahah
Hahaha...
Huge fan of William here!! I remember being like 8 years old and being compelled to dive as far as I could in the river behind my house on one breath. Haven't stopped since!
How deep can you go now? Just asking, kinda curious about how far you have come now?
Have you reached the river bed??
Yep he found my jockies
It must feel so incredible to be so free in such a vast space. Truly astounding talent to accomplish this. Well done!
Amber Petrovich not like that if you have fear of water or fear of empty spaces. Obviously not in his case.
@@tula__ Interestingly, diving actually makes me claustrophobic.
Congrats, William - an unreal accomplishment!
What I don't understand is how he did to withstand the pressure of more than 10 bars at a depth of 102 meters, we are talking about more than 10kg of pressure in each square cm of his body, and he opened his eyes, how did his eyes withstand that pressure from the sea? And how could he exert so much force to return to the surface? Simply incredible
The parts of your body filled with water (most of your body) does not take pressure bc water is not compressible. Only lungs have air inside. But theyre elastic enough to compress

That little fish is chasing him down thinking, “I’m gonna get me some of dat man meat!”
my god I can't even believe in my eyes.
Fascinating how they MAKE them say, “I’m okay.”.
Its part of the requirement for the dive to count as official. They must, in order: take of the nose clip, give the "ok" hand gesture, and then verbally say "I'm okay".
I was out of breath just watching him! Amazing 😃
This is an awesome achievement and that depth on one breath is just incredible. Two olympic pools down and then back up again.
😱🤯 I almost died watching this, seriously extraordinary #Insane
WOW!!
THAT was even without fins and goggles !!
GREAT JOB .
Awe inspiring! I`ve been a fan for 8 years. This is true extremesport. Bone-chilling!
Congratulations William Trubridge for your AMAZING Feat!
Humans have no limits man.BELEIVE THAT!
Animesh Rathore yaaay bruh
102 m in 4:12 s that's unbelievable
Wow
204
WOW I lost breath just watching this omg good on ya mate should be proud
Superb......its amazing...Congrats dear....a big Salute.... 😘😍✌️👏👏👏👏
They literally had to remind him to breathe.
+Jaden Thompson they need to remind hem because he need it so hard more than u think dude others can his heart stops
It’s protocol to say “breathe, *name*”. But yes, your brain is often pretty whacked out and doesn’t work so well after all that time, so it often forgets the correct way to breathe.
Watch some tutorial static apnea videos. The first one I watched he ran through the procedure. Essentially, since CO2 toxicity is what causes the pain of not breathing, taking one breath can be enough for the pain to go away, even though your blood may not have enough oxygen still. In fact you can still pass out even after you've taken a breath because you haven't replenished your oxygen. Really fascinating stuff.
Damn! That's so deep it's dark down there. Unbelievable!
While watching, I felt the pressure of the water and the fear. OMG...
Comparing this to the other divers I think this is more difficult. He didn't hold the rope. Well done man!
Anyone noticed that dog at 3:16 ? Even he looks interested af !!!
Am 💀💀😂😂😂
Lmao
I can't joke with my life this way while others wait with their phones recording, anyway that was superb
The only way to dive.
Absolutely phenomenal.
Deadly sport
@Bruce Leroy exactly
Bruce Leroy all sport are stupid
Will, you are my inspiration. I've watching ur videos since 2012... then stopped.., then came back... and now this. just breathe takiing and jaw dropping ,
I’ll get panic at 10M
i'll get panic at 5 meters, and i can't even hold my breath for 20 seconds lol
I can do at least 40 meters I'm a Filipino
@@Gabriel-jg5wh you can you are just weak minded or stopped as soon as something felt weird not even painful.
LMAO made me crack up bcuz I would too!
Aryan Khan me too , so amazing
*LUNGS.exe HAS STOPPED WORKING*
Beautiful to watch them in the water. Chilling and beautiful.
Incredible. Braveheart ❤️
THAT WAS INCREDIBLE!
Like any great journey, it means nothing if you don't return. Congratulations William
many many years of hard work, so amazing
OMG! The best VDO I ever seen!
Incredible. I don't understand how he went don't so deep and made it appear so effortlessly.
It didn't look effortless to me. You could tell he was struggling on the return trip by 30 m.
You dive,I'm the one holding my breath.
Amazing.. 👍

The Best Freedive I Have Ever Seen :o
We salute your daring..💪 🙌
I nearly lost my oxygen
😂😂yaa
I never knew that some one can hold their breath for this long.. its something very amazing..
4:00 ain't much of a hold, check the length of static breath holds for truly mind boggling times :-)
Congratulations! Outstanding person, fantastic man!
There's only 2 kind of fear, REAL fear :-
1. Sky
2. Ocean
Rest are mind made stuff.
Muhteşem bir şey bu..bu adam insan olamaz..toplamda 204 metre ve paletsiz...olağanüstü bir şey bu..
I hold my breath because of this
Outstanding performance. ❤
I can't hold my breath for 10 seconds good job dude
I am really respect this kind of effort and record, bringing to the edge the human limits. As scuba diver practitioner, feeling how at -30m and -40m the pressure compresses your suit and your body . . . cannot figure out how it would be at -70 to -100
I can hold my breath only 20 second under the water...
Geobar Marak professional divers can hold upto 5 minutes.
Actually bunny, they can do about 12 minutes. Crazy stuff.
Haha
The water pressure compressed your body and lungs, this is insane!
Is that a human or fish
HE is holding his breath for so much time
My brain nearly exploded watching this.
how did his heart not stop bro
He is From another planet 😱😱
Oxygen: this person gotta be kidding me
How long can this dude hold his breath when relaxed? Say underwater in the bath?
Wow after more than 5 years great job :)
I can't even hold my breath while taking bath what about this
The safety Guys wait In 40m … fucking crazy sport
Brave, brilliant, beautiful. AROHA.
This man is insane. Incredible 👍
OMG! It’s just unbelievable
This is INSANE
F'N Truly Outstanding !
This is the single most challenging record of free diving. He is a god in this.
Well I got to 60 m and I nearly died, that’s not on the return trip lol that’s just going down
And that's without exerting yourself with swimming, this guy is insane with what he can do
lmao, i once tried the 20 m and i got rescued already on going down to 17 m.
Absolutely unbelievable..omg...u are really super hero
Congrats! Was so excited when I saw the "new video" alert beside your name in my subscriptions. That was utterly amazing. Way to go.

Task so challenging that you have to be reminded "keep breathing".
4 minutes thats a whole track dude
Thank you for for sharing your free dive experiences. Im preparing also myself. Good buddy system examples.
The correct tittle for this is "Who needs lungs??"
Bravo......great job. I can't believe my eyes.
