Bravo! You certainly covered everything that's fantastic about Eduard, Jamie, and I also take the same approach to the over trees editions since I can attempt one uber kit with the Profipack or Royal Class and then boost the numbers on the display shelves with simpler, more conventional replicas in the scope of what you usually get from Hasegawa or Tamiya. They're inexpensive and provide an economical platform for my decal and aftermarket stash. I truly enjoy reviewing my decal stash for available options, selecting a few, and then thinking "looks like I'm gonna need three more of the over trees". One thing I love about Eduard is their monthly newsletter. It's a comprehensive document that is like a manufacturer-focused combination of FlyPast and SAMI. So much information packed into them and they're laid out very nicely.
Eduard is my favorite line as well. I didn't know about the over trees though. I'll be looking for a few of them now to use up those extra decals and parts from my limited editions. Thanks as always for another great video.
Well hello from Czech Republic(-: you have great channel, especially in terms of weathering techniques you must be up there with the best! ...as a Czech i probably put Eduard at my number one as well, but closely followed by ICM in terms of price/quality they are also amazing.
Thanks Jamie, I didn’t understand before now, how Eduard classed it’s kits. I have only built the weekender kits (like the mk1 spitfire) and they do not disappoint. I usually buy their selected aftermarket, to flash up older kits and weekenders. I look forward to purchasing some Eduard’s other kits.
The beauty of the Overtures kits is that you can rely pick and mix to your hearts desire. Rather than buying kits with decals, and, maybe, other bits and pieces which you my not use, you can just buy the plastic and the go in your own merry direction. By the way, not a single 'so'! Excellent job.
A few months back I had the urge to build a 1/48 Mk1 Spitfire. I narrowed it down to Tamiya or Eduard. While I am a Tamiya fan boy I sat back and thought…. Tamiya will give me great fit, Eduard will give me great surface detail. I figured that I can work with and fix any fit issues that Eduard would give me but creating surface detail, that would be missing on the Tamiya kit, is more of a challenge, so I went for Eduard and I think I made the correct choice. My grumble would be, I wish they would include a pilot figure. I did my spitfire in flight and a Facebook group member kindly donated me a figure from the Tamiya kit that he would not use.
Hey...congrats on busting the 1K subs! Still can't believe a modeller as well known (and good) as you has so few! Still we're enjoying the personal answers to comments....poor old Plasmo has to stop after the first 5 mins!
Hi Paul, thank you very much. It is very flattering to get to 1000! This small size means that replying to comments is manageable, those with massive channels will have no chance to reply to them all for sure!
What a great tip with the white boxes for someone on a budget like me that pushes the pound that bit further 🤔And Jamie that Eastern Front ME110 was an absolute beauty forget the day job marra make more vids please 😃Regards Gav.
What a great company, P51-D is a masterpiece in 1/48 scale, the new decals are fantastic if you lay them down on a decent gloss coat and wait around 24 hrs before peeling the carrier film, the aftermarket stuff fits as it should, I always seem to be too late to the party to Pick up overtrees though, I just checked my stash and could not believe how many Eduard kits I am sitting on, better get building Well done on the 1k Subscriptions 👏 👏 👏
Great vid!! Have a few Eduard kits in stash, the one that intrigues me most is a limited edition Permi-doma? 2 kits in their and a massive book all in checz (I think) shame because the photos are great wish I could read the language
Hi Jamie, great chat video! I fully agree with your take on Eduard. I’m currently building their Wildcat and what a fantastic kit. Sadly they won’t retool their FW 190 D series, which I can’t really understand, 1/48th market unfortunately lacks Dora that is accurate and great fitting and engineered. Kind regards. Looking forward to more of your content. And I’m assuming you’re not coming to Telford this year due to work commitments. I guess we’ll have to reschedule that beer we agreed to couple years back 😉
Hi mate. I can see them re-tooling the Dora at some stage, but I guess it's a long way off! I shan't be a Telford this year, we are on block leave and unfortunately I can't see the leave dates lining up ever!
Nice video Jamie! I’m returning to modelling and dipped my toe into 1:35 Tamiya armour, which I adore, but I really want to try the FW190F8 profipack too. It looks like aircraft are less forgiving than armour (washes and mud hide a lot of mistakes!) but I’ll guess I’ll have to just give it a go and doubtless be a disaster lol.
Hey Jamie what a fantastic video, I’m about 10 months back to the hobby and have completed about 4/5 Tamiya kits which i have found really good to work with. I currently don’t live in the UK and i live / work in KSA, so i need to understand what deliver is like for Eduard kits as I would like to try one. On another note i really like your tool box in the background, looks ideal for putting in a suite case when travelling back and forth.
I get them direct from Eduard, or Telford. I tend to put in a reasonably sized order so it makes it worth while. The other option is for a few friends to get together and put in a joint order, I know some of my friends have done that.
Ive built 2 Eduard kits. 1/48 sopwith camel turned out to be a nightmare! And 1/48 mig-21. Cockpit was a bit tight so had to use filler and i had to cut sides of cockpit seat alot to fit. I prefer tamiya because of ease of build and better instructions in my opinion but Eduard look great when finished
@@MrJ027 thanks for the clarification. The hope still lives that I will be able to finish mine! The old Eduard WWI kits resemble in some respects short run kits.
@@thescalemodellingcafe like you mentioned in your previous video the 1/72 has a very good fit, although it's already 10 years old. And the new A6m2, no problems whatsoever. Only the landing gear attachment is a bit iffy.
Eduard is also in surplus in my stash. Here in continental europe you get two Weekend kits for the price of an Airfix kit in 1/72 and the same with 1/48. 1/48 Profipack kits are the same price here as an Airfix kit. No hard choice for me.
Hi Jamie, not sure about your comment that nobody is on a par with Tamiya regarding engineering, have you made a Zoukei- Mura kit, Man they are a pleasure to build, Tamiya watch out!! love to Hear your comments.
Eduard are a bit of mixed bag with me, the 1/48th Scale Typhoon's(think it was Hasegawa) fit was awful, as was the PE (seat was scaled to 1/32nd) Eduard said there was nothing wrong, the Tempest V was utterly gorgeous(I built a long side the Typhoon, which was then put aside), Finally the Spitfire Mk.VIII HF was built ( I was recovering from a Heart Attack) It was almost Tamiya the way it went together, Alas the decals shot them in the foot as they were out of register with the decals. Eduard are on the naughty step.
The Typhoon was an old Hasegawa kit. I try not use kit decals these days, if I can spray the markings I will but even if I do use decals I prefer aftermarket as it's nice to do a different aeroplane from the box.
Eduard has wonderful, exceptional marketing strategy and product ranges. However, they have wonderful, good, average and bad kits as any other manufacturer in the world.
Not sure what bad kits they have that are still currently available if I'm honest. All really hit the spot where I'm concerned.

Hey Jamie, could you move the camera down a little bit? Your eyes are in the middle of the picture and it's quite disturbing. If you can, try using the golden section. ;)

Great video and great channel. I hope one day you can go over your whitewashing technique because the snow schemes BF 110 and BF 109 are stunning.
I did film the 109 but lost all the raw footage during the great data loss of 2022! I will do another whitewash though.

Tell me about it! Only Eduard sell these, and their rates to post to here in NZ make it cheaper to buy a profi pack!

Do you mean the new tool Sopwith Camel? I have one if them in my stash. Was it the struts & upper wing that was the problem?
No it was the 2003 kit. I didn’t know they did a new tool. Just checked on scalemates.

As a fan of Tool and Lateralus, I shall certainly have a look at that mate!
Anyone who moans that they can´t finish a "Weekend Kit" in a weekend needs to have their x-acto taken away.
Fact!
