How to Get 300FPS on a Caliburn Nerf Blaster

  • If you've ever wondered how to get 300FPS on a Caliburn, here's how.
    Also, I mention how the aluminum pusher doesn't get as good of air seal as brass. That's actually not true anymore because we've improved it since we shot this video. Aluminum pushers with the o-ring notch now perform just as well as the brass pusher. I'd also personally recommend an aluminum pusher over brass because of the dogbone ram.
    0:45 Brass Barrel
    03:10 Half-Length Darts
    08:43 Aluminum Ramrod/Pusher (go with aluminum instead!)
    09:44 Brass Ramrod/Pusher
    13:32 Firing test with brass breech
    15:15 Springs
    21:41 Machined Parts
    24:35 Aluminum Coupler Inserts
    25:10 Firing test with spring load out and machined parts
    26:41 Good airseal
    28:54 For 300FPS-400FPS
    *Note: I reference the all-aluminum machined Caliburn video. That video is on an old laptop that won't turn on, but when I get it to work, I'll post it.

    UPDATE!
    The aluminum ram doesn't leak anymore. We've addressed this issue by used two o-rings on the ramtip and/or making the o-ring notch taller and/or using a slightly larger o-ring.

    My favourite recently is to fully sleeve the brass in aluminium and use a scar barrel designed for the aluminium (16mm) so no brass is exposed at all

      Imma have to try that. Probably makes it easier since most mods are made for the larger aluminum tubes

    Love my brass setup I got from you guys with the k-14. It did make me have to relearn loading since I was used to vanguard setups and kept forgetting to prime to change magazines lol. Once my next order from you guys arrives, I will have my talons converted to brass as well

    • @FrontlineFoamBlasters

      Unfortunately not. The u series uses a different clamping method for the barrel. However it would be possible to make it work with some tinkering.

    Would a metal coupler help with a k14 spring to hold the Caliburn together

    • @FrontlineFoamBlasters
      @FrontlineFoamBlasters  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps, but the K14 is just a heavy spring load in general. If you're going with a K14, I'd say upgrade every part imaginable-get an aluminum plunger, sear, trigger, rambase, coupler inserts... everything. You'll also want to do maintenance on your blaster frequently as well.

    Would you say the 18in brass barrel would get better performance than the 24in aluminum barrel? I’m trying to make a silly high FPS plinking caliburn.

    • @FrontlineFoamBlasters
      @FrontlineFoamBlasters  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the 24in would probably give you more accuracy, but it is super long and the brass could easily hit stuff and bend. I generally don't go longer than 18" for that reason.

    • @wongyewxuan3880
      @wongyewxuan3880 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      then buy 3ft long 17/32 brass. even a pro25 spring requires ~30" of 17/32 brass for optimal fps

  • @falsehashtags6581
    @falsehashtags6581 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So... I bought the aluminum inserts for the Milan coupler, and the brass kit, and the takedown pins won’t fit in the inserts, and the rods don’t fit in the brass muzzle. Should I just drill out the holes (like maybe in a vice for the aluminum)?

    • @FrontlineFoamBlasters
      @FrontlineFoamBlasters  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup. The alu inserts and prints sometimes are slightly misaligned. Hitting it with a 3/16 drill does the trick (same with muzzle).

    • @falsehashtags6581
      @falsehashtags6581 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the drilling worked, but now the ramrod won’t fully go in the breech- like gets stuck really bad when it’s almost completely closed. Maybe the ram core is missaligned? Otherwise it’s working fine, just need to reprint the Milan coupler and get a aluminum plunger.

    • @FrontlineFoamBlasters
      @FrontlineFoamBlasters  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@falsehashtags6581 Gotta make sure the front half especially the brass barrel portion is aligned with the ram. The ram should sit parallel with the priming bars.

    This is exactly the video i was looking for
    Also what fps would you get from a k31 inside a k25 spring with an 18inch aluminium barrel but everything else is default because thats what i ordered from your website a week ago and im curious to know what fps that would shoot

    • @FrontlineFoamBlasters
      @FrontlineFoamBlasters  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd probably expect about 230-280FPS range. Chronograph it when it arrives. Depends on the rest of your setup too.
