I had my lumbar spine fractured in Oct 2018. Was told that it should heal on its own but after two full months of excruciating pain, being out of work, being on painkillers, I had had enough. So I went back to the pain management doctor who also is a neurosurgeon and he told me that surgery was on the table, more specifically this minimally invasive procedure called kyphoplasty wherein you’re placed under anesthesia and the surgeon injects bone cement in your fractured vertebrae via syringe. I went home the same day, it’s an outpatient procedure. Although I still suffer from aches and flareups to this day, I would have arguably been way worse off had I never had it done. Glad I did. It’s not painful like a spinal fusion, I suggest people who have a fractured back/spine look into kyphoplasty.

Do you have osteoporosis? Iv suffered with two severe wedge fractures since March and no one had done anything I now also have moderate kyphosis
I’m in such allot of pain
9 months on I am having physio next eeek and seeing a rheumatologist in Jan
I really don’t think a rheumatologist is the right specialist to see ?
I also have degenerative disk disease and cyst on my lower back which burns allot
I can’t believe I have been left 9 months already without treat
Iv been told I should of had a back brace st least
I wasn’t told until 5 months after that I even had fractures I was told it was muscle yet I had X-rays in March then act scan in august that revealed the fractures were present on X-ray in March
I feel so angry that I have just been left with all this pain
I don’t know where to trim as there just not healing
If u don’t mind me asking who did you see over your back and how is it now

Exactly the same as me, I’m afraid there’s no help, GP wasn’t interested I had to have private X-rays because I knew something was wrong.

They said you can’t have kyphoplasty after your bone heals though, I guess you were still fractured back then?

So would over 12 months be a red flag? My mother has 4 spinal fractures and has had them for almost 18 months. She is 69. The doctors are not helping

I got a compression fractures of T12 and L1 November of 2022 and I still can't walk without a walker, and can't go very far at all. Also, I can't stand in one place or more than 2 minutes. It is still not healed. So much pain. I think it depends where the break is. I broke a vertebrae in mid back (bra band area) 20 years ago, has no pain and it was healed in 12 weeks. However, it was a simple fracture. Compression fractures are a lot worse to heal and more painful.

@@bigballs593 It's so great to hear you're doing so well! I'm really glad to hear a 'success' story! I'm about the same as in my original post. It's just going to take time, doc says. I'll get there! So happy for you, hope you're fully healed and back to work soon. 👍❤️

@LDiamondz i got a compression fracture L2, it's been 3 monthes now and I'm walking with walker with my AFU braces.. I can move 1 foot a little bit but calves and feet dont really work. . I still use catheters and enemas. Just ctually caught a UTI. My doctor who isn't a pain specialist is giving me bs pan pills now and weaning me off the hydrocodones. I can only walk for about 10 mins and stand for about 5 before back gets to me. It's been a brutal journey man and I hope you have a strong quicker recovery.

    • @LDiamondz
      @LDiamondz ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@RyanPatrick-yy7zi Oh, you're really having a rough time with this. I was lucky, then. I didn't need a catheter or enemas. I'm really sorry you're going through all that. It hurts just thinking about it. My feet and calves worked OK, but I'm still in the back brace and use a walker. It's so painful. Why is the doctor weaning you off hydrocodone? It's not even that strong. I took oxycontin 15mg on and off first three months, it was really strong, then he switched me to hydrocodone. Doesn't he realize how painful it is? Maybe a Pain Specialist would be better? Geez, I don't know how you can walk and stand that long. That's a good sign. I'm still only able to walk about 3 minutes, and standing in one place is nearly impossible. That pain is tremendous. The catheter with a UTI, alone, is painful enough to need pain meds, I'd assume? I can't bend much at all. It's tough not being able to do things you'd normally just do, without even thinking. Picking something up off the floor, twisting to grab something on a side table, and taking a shower is the most difficult. Ouch! It gets depressing as it lingers on and on. I hope you have a good support system and someone to help you do things for you, that you can't. My support system is getting tired of it. And I hate asking for help, when someone sighs or rolls their eyes, when you ask them. It has been a long time, though. Still. It really is a brutal journey. I hope you heal quicker, and get back to a normal life again, soon. Trust me, it'll get better, and I hope it's soon for both of us. We both need a rest from this. It's so exhausting. I wish you well, and kind of know how you feel. ~hugs~ ❤️

I’m so sorry to hear your suffering like this
In March I got two severe wedge fractures at t6/7 9 months on I’m still not healed
I do also have osteoporosis and now kyphosis which is possibly from the fractures
Iv had no treatment seen no one yet and have a specialist appointments to see a rheumatologist in Jan
I’m pretty sure this specialist is not the right person to see
I wasn’t told about my fractures until 5 months later
I had a Ct scan in august for my gallbladder that revealed I had the fractures and were present on X-ray back in March
I was told it’s all muscular from coughing because I have severe emphysema
I’m in that much pain I can’t bresth and feel like giving up
Can anyone please tell me there is hope and they will heal
So sorry for anyone eles that is going through this pain
I also have dengerative disk disease at the bottom of my back with cyst on my spine thst I was supposed to be having removed
That was two yrs ago and heard nothing
I’m in the uk and our nhs is worthless
