- Two suspects claiming to be DTE workers killed a homeowner and restrained his wife with duct tape at a home in Rochester Hills on Friday, officials say. Authorities are searching for the two men. It's unclear if they are armed, but the sheriff's office said they should be considered dangerous.

This is why I don’t let anyone in my home. Not utility companies especially. Basically if I don’t know you you’re not coming in my home and if I do know you and you never called before coming over then I’m definitely not letting you in.
I will call the company and verify you first and set an appointment for return.

Personally, I don't open doors, but I have had these arguments with my elderly parents and family members that will open the door for anyone. Its infuriating.
If a stranger tells them not to open the doors, not to answer unknown calls, they listen right?, that happens to me and my elderly parents they literally do the opposite of what is recommended by me but will obey whatever the freaking strangers tell them to do. I get so mad!
I know my parents are like that and I'm totally the opposite I never answered the door.
This is why I built an addition and moved my elderly mother into my home. Me and two giant fur missiles are always around. World is getting too dangerous for old people to be living alone. Plus she listens to my retired state trooper neighbor. That’s just how parents are. They don’t like their children telling them things. It becomes the inverse of the child disobeying the parent. It is what it is. Any advice I want to give her about security and staying vigilant I just run it by my neighbor and he tells her in casual conversation. She’ll immediately come to me afterwards praising his wisdom, and that’s fine by me. So long as she’s taking the advice to heart.

So I guess Ring decided to finally start cooperating and obey the search warrant.
They literally refused to earlier because the wife didn't have her phone to login (probably stolen in the home invasion). Even though they had her permission and an actual search warrant.
Ring got in trouble for giving cops leash free access to doorbell cams because cops were using it for personal reasons

When I was a teenager, I'd go with my older friends to pawn their things and then go back. The owner was a great guy. He was murdered as well 😔 People can be so cruel. I'm so emotionally drained from all the hate, anger, and violence going on around us. It's accelerating at an alarming rate.

The town I grew up in had a jewelry store on the main street. The owner lived walking distance to his store. He was followed home multiple times in attempted robberies. He was lisenced to carry, and had to use his gun on more than one occasion to defend himself and his home. It never escalated to this level though. Condolences to this man’s family. I hope his wife can recover from her injuries.

A man has been charged with murder in Louisiana after allegedly killing a Rochester Hills man and assaulting his wife this past week, posing as a DTE worker to get into the home. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office announced via social media that Carlos Hernandez has been charged with murder, among other charges, in regards to this incident. According to a press release, Hernandez has been charged by prosecutors with felony murder and two counts of unlawful imprisonment. If convicted, Hernandez faces life in prison. Hernandez was taken into custody earlier this weekend, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Detectives are still searching for the second suspect. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said this happened on Newcastle Drive near Adams and Dutton roads earlier this week. On Saturday, the sheriff's office identified the victim as 72-year-old Hussein Murray. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard says the two men, who had a white pickup truck with a DTE placard, rolled up to the house Thursday night and tried to get in but were denied.

The police and/or fire dept. would be present if for some reason the "gas company" had to go door to door checking for gas leaks, which they NEVER EVER would do anyways. You owe them nothing. Never let anyone in your home after hours unless YOU CALLED THEM, period.

Consumers Energy service GAS in the suburbs, and DTE may service electric in some areas-but not gas. Sometimes they use contractors, but they notify you via phone text and email.
