I think, as a 500 year old warrior, Ruijerd's reaction was very fitting. If I recall from the LN, what he did didn't faze Eris either. It was only Rudeus, who has modern sensibilities, who felt shocked.
To me, Ruijerd just seems like he sees things in black and white… there is no gray area. So even if you do something a little wrong, you’re evil. In addition, he seems to have a soft spot for kids, so if you hurt a kid, you’re especially evil. Furthermore, violence and death may be a more frequent occurrence on the Demon continent, so Ruijerd doesn’t hesitate to act.
They didn’t explain it at all in this but Rudeus finds Monster flesh nearly inedible, there’s a smell to it and a taste that he just doesn’t like. It’s not that he’s a picky eater either it’s that the meat is just, the best explanation would be that it’s gamy and he kicks himself for not asking for recipes in the Migurd tribe as he likes their food. It’s the smell and the flavour for him. There’s also a part missing later on that goes into this in more detail that they really should’ve kept.
I still can't believe some reactors watch all the 37 episodes and still keeping saying things like Rudeus is a old guy in the body of a child, when you have scenes like this 3:15, I would have dressed up the same way when I was 10 years old to look like a cool adventurer. fortunately, your reactions and analysis do not fall into this error.
