Don't worry about the Wolfpack torsos. They will definitely be restocked multiple times more. I've used Pick A Brick for almost a decade now, and I've seen the trend of pieces like that. The first couple times they're stocked, scalpers buy up all of them instantly. After a few restocks, the scalpers have had their fill and they'll be as available as anything else. It happened for the Black Falcons when they first released, then the Forestmen, then the Lion Knights, and now the Wolfpack. Even after the pieces eventually retire, you will find Bricklink sellers with literally thousands of these pieces in their stores, too much stock to sell (because they were the scalpers initially who bought up everything). Also, LEGO has had a trend of reusing some of these pieces in multiple sets. The Black Falcon's started in the Ideas Blacksmith Shop but also appeared in the Creator Castle and the Lion Knight's castle. The Forestmen started in the GWP and then ended up in the Lion Knights Castle. I wouldn't be surprised if we see the Wolfpack torso again in some other set, extending its lifespan on Pick A Brick further. Great video as always!
That's great information. Thank you. That all makes so much sense. And I really haven't waded into Bricklink yet, it does take some getting used to. I appreciate you posting. Cheers!
@@tbsince1954 Brick really is a cryptic realm haha But once you unfold its secrets it reveals a veil of opportunity. Lately I did my first order on there too and its incredible!
With a wolf pack beast master coming up in the next CMF series, i do hope a lot that we'll get to see even more of them. Some kind of new set concentrating on them would be really nice.
Awesome video once again! VIKINGS! You can order Viking parts and weapons and helms on pick a brick. The Vikings are great and can be great allies in the battles to come.
I love the intro, very whimsical :) I've also got a big PAB order incoming, I can hardly wait :). I got my fill of Lion and Falcon knights a couple years ago. Current one is mainly vikings, pirates and commoners from the medieval village. Some suggestions: - Viking torsos (especially 6141 and 6142) make for great unaffiliated soldiers, irregulars, mercenaries and the like. - The greenish torso (6141) combined with green heads (4091, 4323) should build some nice greenskins (orcs, goblins (with short legs), lizardmen (with tail no. 16)). Fitting weapons are sword no 1, sword no. 12 (machete) or 60752 (collectible orc's saber). - Viking shields (no. 36) are gorgeous. The generic round shield (17835) is very useful and can be customized with 2x2 round dish (4740) or round plates/tiles, if you want some color. - Sword no. 28 is a favorite. It comes in grey and also in magic variants in gold/transparent blue and black/transparent purple. - There's a couple cool helmets, too, like no. 288 (historically accurate viking helmet) or the dark knight helmet (48493) in gold and grey from the big DnD set. Also, both helmet no. 288 and 3844 fit perfectly well with beard 2611. - Dreamzzz has some rather cool fantasy sets, like Sandman's Tower (basically a wizard's tower), Castle Nocturnia (wizard's tower x3) and the Shark ship (scary magical airship). Also some cool minifigs, some of which can be pieced together via PAB.
Thank you so much for the detailed suggestions. I'm going to be looking at PAB with your ideas in hand! And I agree, I think those Dreamzzz sets can work in a fantasy theme and I have a feeling we shall see many on sale Black Friday! Cheers!
You might really like the dreamzzz village. A smaller cheaper set, but might be good for a little magical village alongside your forestmen or something like that. My weirdest little army is from the space series. I bought several of the robot imposter figures which come with extra antenna pieces and have 3 ot the little microfigure aliens and im using them to create an invasions army using heads with prints that i think look a little off and some hair pieces from friends that also have the little holes for accessories.
@@tbsince1954 I love Sci-fi and Doctor who and have picked up some of the few official and custom made or purchased off brand figures of a lot of those characters. I also picked up an off brand Stargate years ago and made the team from the Stragate SG-1 out of official Lego Minifigure parts as well. So I am all for getting more aliens and Space factions for those characters to interact with on their explorations. All that to say the space series had me buying multiples too. I got at least 2 of each and tried to make a male, a female and a mutant version of each classic space faction included, got a few Imposters as well for my robo figs and little green army, 1 extra Orion for fantasy customs, etc. That and the D&D coming back to back and shortly after Marvel 2 which wasn't scannable so I got some intentional and unintentional duplicates in, and the series with the Mushroom, Harpy, Bat-Lord, and Goat Herder, and my wallet has been feeling very empty for a while now. Lol
Great vid, Thom!! You’re building up a mighty collection there. Looks great! Ok, time for me to admit it, I’ve got a Lego addiction 😂 and especially to PAB since I do MOCs!! I absolutely love getting those PAB orders in the mail, so here’s what I do, as I’m building a MOC: I make note of the pieces that I need and start working on a PAB order. Once I’ve gotten $35 worth of pieces then I submit the order to get the free shipping, start working on the next order. I’ve got a system where I get an order each week to satisfy that addiction 😉😂 dopamine hit, sweet anticipation!
Skeletons are a fun addition to so many different types of builds (designNumber 78132). If you make another pick a brick order you might consider picking up a few black skeleton's for those characters who have had bad luck with Dragons or other fiery misadventures.
There are so many sets out now that I often stumble across new figs from non-castle sets that could work in my world. The latest is a passenger in the Orient Express train that could be a used for female noble or dark sorceress or Elven maiden etc. Pick a brick (and Bricklink) is a great resource to get those parts without having to buy the $300 set. Ninjago, Monkie Kid and Harry Potter are other themes that often have great use.
A really nice haul. I'm a huge fan of the Classic Castle style. That's why i was blown away by the 3in1 castle. Of course i did build two small wall sections meant to act as a coupling between the new wall layout and the classic one. Haven't ordered at pab yet, but i do visit Lego stores from time to time. With a little luck, they will have cool parts and nice miniatures to build yourself. Even better was a visit to Legoland Germany (which is less than an hour from here...). The minifigure shop there was a blast: 6 minis for 12€! What i really enjoy is ordering from BrickOwl. It's just like BrickLink, but i went to the owl first, so i'll stay there. Most shops are found at both sites anyways. It's (usually) way cheaper than Pick a Brick, but it fully depends on if a shop can provide all those parts that you want. I've placed several orders this year, cranking up the numbers of medieval villagers from like 5 to nearly fifty now. Harry Potter provides several nice torsi for medieval times and of course the D&D cmf does it, too. Since i'm more into classic style, i'm trying to build some townhouses but small enough to fit with the theme. The current ones usually are way too big for my taste, even though they are way superior when it comes to details. I'm trying to learn from the new stuff (and the possibilities with today's parts) to upgrade older designs a bit, but not too much.
I'll be in Berlin soon and while I won't get to Legoland, I do hope to get to the Lego store in Berlin. Happy building! Loved hearing about your buying!
Very nice video! Ordering on pick a brick is so exciting and fun. Just ordered mine for over 200 euros last night and its still in the warehose tho. Waiting for the parts is the worst thing 😂😂🙏
I recently came across your channel and can’t get enough! I absolutely love the idea of buying sets now for your grandchildren in the future! My grandfather did a similar thing for us growing up and it ignited my passion for the hobby! I’ve been on quite the fantasy castle kick myself lately and the perspective you have is so refreshing and true to the joy of LEGO as a hobby! Keep up the fantastic work!
You need to check out the bricklink designer programm for medieval and fantasy sets. they are amazing and the Dracula castle in series 5 will be amazing.
Great stuff, Thom! You've got quite a story brewing. I'm in the early stages of thinking about building a Wizard Tower MOC. I think I can figure out how to do it, having learned techniques from all the Castle sets I've been building this year.
I have to pay more attention when I build. I really want to try a small castle moc but I don't know if I have the skills yet. I may try a little moc to get my feet wet. Cheers!
There's an older Harry Potter set you might want to check out for some ideas. Forbidden Forest: Umbridge's Encounter Set # 75967-1 Not only is there a giant, but two centaurs that you could use the lower half to army build. The only issue is the tail color isn't changeable so you're pretty much stuck with that ugly sand green (unless you want to paint it to match minifig hair colors). I believe these would look great with cloth skirt pieces. I noticed a used set on Bricklink for $18 so they shouldn't be too difficult to still find at reasonable prices. There's also a female centaur warrior from minifigure Series 21. Hopefully they'll use this part again someday soon.
I've been buying a bunch of pirate minifigures from ebay to fill up my Creator 3 in 1 Pirate ship since it only start with 3 pirates. I know what its like trying to get figures for a set when Pirates isn't currently one of the main themes. I got the Scary Pirate Island GWP set which has the giant shark head island to go along with the pirate ship.
I try to make an order once per month and time it in with a GWP for extra parts or to resell. There is always that fear of missing out when it comes to PaB. A safer bet is to order the things released earlier rather then later. Having said that I couldn't help myself to place an order for 36 tax collectors the other week. Was about to add the same amount of Wolfpacks too but they ran out before I had time to check out T_T
Since you're enjoying skeletons so much, may I suggest looking into variants for these (there are special ninjago skeletons, black ninjago skeletons, old evil looking fantasy castle skeletons - white and black , and 2 fiery skeletons in a set you might like and is out now - 76289 thor vs Surtur and 2 skeleton servants - surtur is a big demon looking giant, hope this helps ! ) Also keep an eye out for the new CMFs next year - they will have a wolfpack beast master + wolf.
If you call Lego customer service and ask for wolfpack torsos they will be able to ship them to you when they become available. Just so you know and don't miss out.
