I've had migraines (20-25 per month) for 30 years, generalised anxiety for 28 years and 5 years ago i added chronic pain + chronic fatigue (about 25 different symptoms) to the first 2 conditions. My life is hell. I'm home bounded now but i know it is all related to years of stress. My nervous system is in total control of my body and my mind. Most people with chronic pain are extremely stressed because they can't work (money related problems), they are scared of maybe never recovering (after years of being sick, we lose faith), stressed of not being able to do what they used to do (as simple as cleaning and cooking), stressed because they are losing friends because they can't do normal activities anymore and, so much more.... I might be wrong but i believe that's the reason why they develop anxiety. I would've developed anxiety for sure due to chronic pain if i wasn't already experiencing it. Big hug to everyone experiencing chronic painor anxiety or CFS. 🙌✳️
A very helpful supplement for anxiety, depression and panic is Glycine. It's natural, an amino acid. It comes in powder form. It's a neurotransmitter Inhibitor. People use it for sleep. But works well for anxiety. Look at the time you notice relief with 10 to 25 minutes. Another supplement is Inositol aka Myo-Inositol. It has been found that people with high stress, anxiety, depression have very low levels. It is all natural to and should feel an improvement with 10 to 15 of taking it. I have tried every supplement under the sun and these 2 are amazing. Only only recently found out about them. I suggest typing them in with anxiety and see what you find. Hope this helps you or someone who reads.
I can relate to all you wrote. It's like your describing exactly what I'm going through. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Made me feel not so alone with the extreme suffering I've been going through and experiencing in the last year. You helped someone today.Thank you🙏

Makes so much sense I have had an anxiety disorder since I was 14 and now I am 48 and I have had chronic pain for couple years now and I have now been getting better since reading dr sarno and your videos
Mr. Jim you are right on. I have this every morning it’s so bad. Sometimes I get tired of it. I get up early every morning I wake up like twice during the night boom boom boom goes the heart . You get so sick of it and of course it triggers the old sciatica injury / useless back surgery 3 years ago. I have made some improvements, but dang it is relentless. Here lately I’ve been getting up early and working with weights with my husband doing something he calls a Hit workout. Then I get on this stepper machine that works your arms too . I have to seriously bust my ass and get a really hard breathing going and then after all that work out with assisted pull ups he’s got me doing lol ; I finally get anxiety relief. But it doesn’t last all day and I can’t workout all day lol. He also has me doing some cold water therapy. We have cold springs here in North Fl. It helps too. But here again I really need to get to the root and teach my brain to chill out. I’m trying man . Thanks for all you do putting these videos out such a blessing. 🙌
A lot of time you need to look under the hood of anxiety to other emotions. Anxiety can be blocking access to other feelings. For example people who are conflict avoidant will get anxious when they’re actually angry. Keep going don’t see it as anything it’s a cover emotion for other emotions or a false fear as I spoke of here.
This is all super helpful and true. However, one important thing to note is that thyroid problems can cause anxiety. I’ve been working on reducing anxiety and chronic pain for a long time and recently I found out that I have Hashimoto’s. So sometimes there can be actually something wrong in the body that needs to be addressed and we actually need to go to the doctor to get evaluated. Treating a thyroid issue will reduce anxiety for some.
Sometimes hiatel hernias can cause anxiety because they irritate the vagus nerve..mine feels with air and hinders my diaphram and can give me anxiety..it can also cause heart palpitation==dr vikki peterson on you tube has alot of videos on this. To me the big question is did anxiety lead to chronic pain or did chronic pain lead to anxiety. It seems obvious that if you have chronic pain you are likely to have anxiety. The more interesting question is are people with existing anxiety disorders more likey to develop chronic pain.
Yes anxiety can lead to physical anxiety symptoms and physical symptoms can lead to more exactly so it is a loop. Some of the interesting brain study show that changes in the brain are pre-existing before a chronic pain started so there is evidence to show that it’s the anxiety/stress on the front end that can make something become chronic
Don’t stay in depair too long like I said it will keep you down. Dizzy feelings like that are classic anxiety. Stand up to it and move forward. Don’t let it control you. See if there’s any underlying anger beneath anxiety towards something that can be the case a lot with people in anxiety

Has anybody else had some weird but harmless symptoms from taking either pain meds, (OTC) or vitamin supplements? Not from anxiety, which I've also had, and have, but a few weeks ago I took a Motrin or two one day, was driving home from a day trip to a beach/boardwalk on LI NY here, and I suddenly had a weird stinging pain in my lower left calf, or foot. It stopped just as fast, and then hasn't reoccurred and I haven't taken Motrin since. I also once was told to take extra doses daily of Vitamin D., by an MD, and I started getting weird bone pain or joint pain from it, so I discontinued it. Of course my anxiety could have made my reactions worse, but I'm not sure.
Jim. Read your comment below about repressed anger. That is me. Recommends on how to release it? It is long passed but I know I haven’t emotionally dealt with it
Yes just start journaling about it seeing if you can notice it in your symptoms and acknowledging it actually have to actively work to do some expression around it. Also currently want to be assertive, set boundaries learn to say no those are all expressions of healthy anger regulation

Hi Jim Thanks for this video. I feel I need to work on anxiety in my body. Which of your Somatic tracking videos would be best for this condition. Colin
You can use any of the videos the key is to not listen to or react to the anxiety label it as anxiety and let it pass separate yourself from it as it’s a false fear
Great info! I have some doubts, can anxiety be contagious? Meaning, if one is surrounded by an anxious person, can this be adopted? Or is the Individual pre dispositioned for anxiety and the environment just detonates anxiety? Im curious, as i realize that im affected by my spouses anxiety and moreover, I am becoming like him, which entails in perceiving threats that are not Real Physical Danger rather just social anxiety. Can this be a mirrored anxiety? Just some thoughts! Thank you for the wonderful resources!
Yes it can be that. We do have mirror neurons and we are suggestible to people close to us. I would stop agreeing with this start refuting the anxiety so that you can break down the pattern that’s starting in you and also his as well. Anxiety helps no one!
My main chronic symptom is brain fog...before that I was in a very stressful situation with a level of anxiety never experienced before so I guess that this is what my brain did to protect me from that anxiety. Do you think that meds can help to lower the level of anxiety or the only way is through Active messages of safety?
Yeah the anxiety again can come out emotionally or physically in your body it’s the same thing. You just have to see if there’s anything under anxiety other emotions or feelings that you want to get access to. The danger alarm system can stay turned on in the brain even though danger has long past. Meds can help but I don’t think it gets to the root of the problem which is what this work does
@@thepainpt Ty so much for your answer!! I think that the root of my anxiety is the fear of abandonment and solitude ( father left the family/mother emotionally unavailable/unwanted child) and the consequent Anger and frustration towards myself for not being able to overcome that. I Guess that acknowledging that is not enough to overcome the anxiety..should I face that by Just being alone?
I highly recommend trauma experts Peter Levine's and James S. Gordon's books and video on trauma. A good somatic trauma counselor can help too. Learning brain rewiring and somatic tracking work can help you calm your nervous system. It was someone with PTSD who told me about Levine - said doing the somatic work in his books/videos helped her more than years of talk therapy! Somatic work helps me hugely, and Jim's a fine teacher with terrific somatic tracking videos to practice rewiring your brain. Best of luck!
Great video thanks Jim 👍 I believe my chronic anxiety is the root cause and driver of my CFS which I’ve had 3 times x sometimes it feels like my CFS is the extreme end of an anxiety spectrum x I’ve also been following Dr Russell Kennedy who says that anxiety isn’t a thinking problem its alarm stored in the body and you can’t resolve a feeling problem with thinking, do you have a view on this or is this kind of an opposite viewpoint? Also I love your videos and how well you explain things but do you have a book or other resources? Could really do with some help for my heath anxiety which I’ve had for probably 40 years x thanks so much Jim 👍
Yes ur right anxiety comes from the amygdala and limbic brain. DARE is a great approach for anxiety they have an app and book I believe. Claire weeks has a book about anxiety that is also good. The alarm system with anxiety is sensitized so goes off around different things that are not dangerous. The roots usually go back to childhood or possibly further. Psychodynamic therapy looks at anxiety as a cover for other deeper emotions like anger guilt etc. they call it unconscious anxiety when it comes out in your body as a symptom. I think the starting part is you need to challenge it otherwise it’s being reinforced. Yes anxiety is a fear feeling so let that feeling or symptom go and see if there’s stuff underneath it related to things that makes sense as to why you have the anxiety. Reach out if you feel like you need more support to work with this
@@thepainpt thanks Jim, I have looked on your website and if my financial situation improves will look into booking some sessions with you. I am a huge fan of Claire Weekes approach, I have 2 of her books and have found its the only thing that has ever helped, I think her approach is very much TMS?! I have used DARE which I think is an updated Claire Weekes really but although a useful tool if the anxiety symptoms are very strong the DARE aporoach doesnt feel powerful enough. I feel like sometimes it just takes over and the symptoms will just appear in certain situations, I think thats neuroception? Anyway thanks for the suggestions, bottom line is I have to lose my fear of fear symptoms I guess! When I recovered from CFS before it was basically down to massively reducing stress/anxiety x sorry for long reply 👍
Yes I believe a lot of Long Covid is TMS. Rebecca is great she’s a wonderful person and coach she really dove into the work when we worked together a few years back and made a great recovery!
Do you know if going through prescribed benzodiazapine withdrawal which causes fight/flight/freeze due to the Gaba receptors being downregulated can be helped using your program? I’m in terror daily over nothing. I wake up in terror…over nothing. It’s due to a damaged brain .
Be OK with the anxiety itself it’s not real fear it is an exaggeration of false fear that you don’t need to listen to but you do have to handle it in your body when it arises
Jim if we get symptoms out of the blue but don’t feel anxious, and we understand that it’s a repressed emotion that we are unaware of, how do we release that energy if it’s so repressed?
Could this work if my anxiety is focused on pain from ibs-c that is triggered by specific foods and my anxiety is generally only an issue when my blood sugars are getting low as i struggle with being hypersensitive to changes in my blood sugar.
Would you say this is true if dizziness causes anxiety? Don’t worry about it, don’t avoid things because you are dizzy? I have had multiple test to rule things out- nothing Is found that is causing the dizziness I have most the time. Only time it goes away is when I lay down so I avoid doing everything.
I seriously feel anxious almost all day. I have tried meds but they cause bad side effects. Have you seen some people need anxiety medication to help them while applying these principles? It’s gotten much worse since I had the flu 10 days ago as if I have inflammation. It all started 3.5 years ago when I had mold exposure but also during 2020 when there was SO MUCH stress.
Anxiety meds numb and sedate your feelings, and you can't heal what you can't feel. I healed MUCH better when I was able to face my trauma and grief unmedicated. Somatic work helps hugely - you're in the right place. You're right - high level stress affects your system, as your brain thinks you're in danger - often long after any danger is over. Before I got CFS/ME symptoms, I had 19 major stresses, 4 of them traumas. Jim can help you tell your Crocodile brain to calm down and stop being overprotective.
Anyone tried meds to ease social anxiety so that it can be desensitized? Ive been cfs/me for 6 years and while ive had some moderate shifts, anxiety has been so reluctant to budge. Not keen on meds, but i think doing all the things anxiety makes so difficult will be a big one for me to make a full transformation. thanks for the vids too Jim, they are great :)
Have you got pain with it I was diagnosed 1998 neurosthenia severe but nowadays more muscle pain but I've found out ADHD fatigue type not hyper linked to me fybro which ime sure i have and hypomobility
Dr Sarno used to believe anxiety causes pain until 1981 then he changed and said the anxiety is a product of something in the subconscious butf I thinks it's the other way round.snxiety causes the subconscious to react.been confusing for me
I think the best explanation for anxiety comes from psychodynamic therapy which believes it’s what causes these unconscious symptoms in the body but underneath anxiety are other deep emotions like anger and guilt etc. I think Sarno would agree with that he talked about anger and rage as one of the primary emotions causing symptoms in the body. Anxiety can cover up anger. One of the classic ways to look at this is if you are conflict avoidant that means you get anxious around the emotion of anger
@@Truerealism747 Yes anxiety of the symptoms for sure you have to overcome that and just see if there’s anything else around things and themes in your life which is the undercurrent of all this stuff. what you are most scared of and feel is most threatening to you
No doctors don't realise I've got hypomobilty and anxiety are one mother's the same she got severe ms.larger amalgamia in the brain are you hypomobile jim
Dear Jim, i already asked a question before...but one 1 more i would like to ask. I finally understand that all my pppd and eye symptoms are coming from my really tired and overstressed brain. It took me 1 year to finally see there was nothing bad going on, except too much stress, worry etc. In this 1 year i built up anxiety, every time i felt sensations i got flight reaction. So...now..i finally know what is the cause of my sensations, i trust they can dissapear when my brain is relaxed again...BUT the anxiety feeling, the constant tension in my body, when i wake up, all day long, there is this tension and bacause of this, also afraid feelings...like, :/why is this still here, can i get rid of it or did i feel this for too long and now it is very hard to go away, or...why doesnt it go away now i know that i will be fine from symptoms again? So...i feel afraid of feeling these tension/ anxiety symptoms because they seem to be withme all day long🥴 I have tried; passiflora, rhodiola, st janskruid...they all dont seem to be doing a lot to feel relaxed again..i dont want medication...but i so much would like some help or some thing to feel a bit more relaxed again..i feel so tired..i sleep but also not that well... Would you have any suggestions besides trying to feel its all ok? Would you suggest any plantbased supplements? Or any other help? 🙏🙏
I’m not sure on supplements Probably some can help ease the anxiety. I think the biggest goal here is to reteach your brain there is no danger. So this means telling and showing your brain each day there is nothing wrong even when you feel anxious. Overtime they should dial down the anxiety. But you need to not care and live normally to show it that. Confront and face the things that make you anxious. Another recent why anxiety can be high in people is when there’s repressed anger underneath. This is common in conflict avoidant people or people who never tend to get angry. Take care
It's so bizare that something like anxiety that should protect us can make us miserable and literaly destroy life. Brain's big flaw.

Good explanation
How do you know if it's anxiety driven pain when doctors and MRI tell you there are serious things wrong! Doctors and MRI results create the anxiety!!
What if you feel like the danger is coming from inside you? It’s the symptoms that make me scared ALL the time….someone please help me to help myself.

I got komplex PTSD and got heavy anixety and burning skin, Fatigue, brainfatigue, abandontment trauma
How to heal ?

Is the same for long covid,
Rebecca tollin has really helped me with this
Yes I believe a lot of Long Covid is TMS. Rebecca is great she’s a wonderful person and coach she really dove into the work when we worked together a few years back and made a great recovery!
@@thepainpt you guys are both angels 😇
Do you know if going through prescribed benzodiazapine withdrawal which causes fight/flight/freeze due to the Gaba receptors being downregulated can be helped using your program? I’m
in terror daily over nothing. I wake up in terror…over nothing. It’s due to a damaged brain .
It takes time to recover, that’s the only thing that helps
Anxiety doesn't believe the subconscious is causing the pain it's just anxiety they say
Centre
How do I overcome my anxiety??? I try so hard to challenge myself in everything. But I don't think it helps 💔
I have had multiple test to rule things out- nothing Is found that is causing the dizziness I have
most the time.
Anxiety is not cause of symptoms. It is a symptom in itself
@@thepainpt for me it's anxiety of symptoms I don't feel anger only if symptoms I keep away from things what make me angry to
@@Truerealism747 Yes anxiety of the symptoms for sure you have to overcome that and just see if there’s anything else around things and themes in your life which is the undercurrent of all this stuff. what you are most scared of and feel is most threatening to you
No doctors don't realise I've got hypomobilty and anxiety are one mother's the same she got severe ms.larger amalgamia in the brain are you hypomobile jim
So...i feel afraid of feeling these tension/ anxiety symptoms because they seem to be withme all day long🥴
I have tried; passiflora, rhodiola, st janskruid...they all dont seem to be doing a lot to feel relaxed again..i dont want medication...but i so much would like some help or some thing to feel a bit more relaxed again..i feel so tired..i sleep but also not that well...
Take care
@@thepainpt thank you so much🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Living with chronic pain for 5 decades, this idea of it all being in a persons head. You are not helping!
He says nothing about it all “being in the head”, it’s very real. The cause , though, may very well be fear in the unconscious.
