I love the cicadas sound. To me, it means summer. This was supposed to be a huge year for them but where I am in Schoharie NY I haven't heard a single one.
It seems that your happier in your videos since you left the pathfinder school or at least you come off that way to me. Even though you're working your ass off making your products but also putting other people out there to get them on radar is awesome!
I like the Worksharp Guided Field Sharpener. It’s smaller and has a leather strop on it as well. Great video and great products and descriptions! That “poncho liner on steroids” looks Awesome,Especially in woodland Camo!!
Hey Devil Dog, I made my own strop, and I epoxied a small whetstone on the handle , just in case. And I agree, I strop my knives every week or so, two benefits, number 1 it gives you a very sharp edge, and number 2 you aren't wearing your knife out nearly as fast. I rebuild America made folding knives, and some of the blades are whittled down to nothing by oversharpening on a stone, or God forbid, a grinder. Great video brother!
Thanks Corporal. I had thought that the guy and his company that make the Spool Tool had gone out of business. I hope that he’s back up and running. Handy darn thing.
I just wanted to pass on a "Thank You" for the link to Justin and his sheaths. I bought my wife a set of three BeaverCraft knives in black finish. She liked them but wanted left handed sheaths. BeaverCraft doesn't make them but Justin got right on it and we got them today. He does nice work and said that if there are any issues he will make it right. I can recommend him and his work, thanks once more for the link.
Great video. When I saw you hone your garberg I got a chill. I have that same knife . And when I hone it, it gets scary sharp. Shaves hair like a Lazer. I disagree with you when you said not you don't need to burn the edges of bank line. It will eventually come unraveled. I bought a camp companion father's day special, I got to admit I broke the budget on that one. I am glade I did, it is awesome. Splits wood like a full sized axe. Buy once cry once.
Talking about discipline in my high school years of 74 to 76, my high school football coach had a broken down the middle long way baseball bat, all smoothed down, believe me when he put that on your butt you knew it. We sure did respect that. And I wouldn't change it. Some of us actually needed it
I got paddled by something similar and larger two times as a student. As a third grader and then as an eighth grader by the school's principals. Those days are long gone.
Once I discovered Mora, I never looked back...years ago a friend was giving a tutorial on deer skinning. I watched him use a knife as he removed the hide, not once did he stop to sharpen the knife. Not once. I asked What is that knife? How did it stay sharp so long? He said it's a Mora knife 🔪 ❤. They are worth it....planning to add a hardcore hammer next in my set up😊
Mom used a section of hot wheels track! Yup, had it coming too! Preferred corporal punishment from dad. Very fortunate to have both! Big brother was not very bossy.
Thanks corporal for the tips and sharing your knowledge. My choice of sharpening device is a round file, like for sharpening a chain saw. It fits in my sheath with the knife. It has multiple uses. I can sharpen my knife, sharpen serrated blades, my ax, and can file magnesium for my fire starting. I also keep on my blade some Chinese throwing stars they also can be sharpened with the round file. It takes virtually no space and weights like nothing. It also can poke holes in leather for sewing packs from rips.... And I'm sure other uses can be found for it. Thanks again brother.
That Lite Sleeper is really well thought out. I think that poncho liners got their fantastic reputation just because they were such a relief from being so goddamn miserable. They are just a thin nylon and polyester quilt, but that tube on the Lite Sleeper gives some excellent opportunities to get some insulation in there...
Cool video!!! Both those Mora knives are great choices as budget friendly bushcraft knives, and are very durable. Thanks for the video and for sharing your thoughts about your favorite kit items. I really like the Lite Sleeper Woobie on steroids.
The poncho liner is a neat idea but I like my zippered one with a zippered head hole. It still has the ties like a regular liner but with the head hole you can wear the liner alone or under the poncho almost like a light jacket. If you use it as a sleep system you can zip it up like a light sleeping bag inside of your poncho. Mine is called the Dragoon Unlimited poncho liner but I'm sure there are others out there.
Thanks for the gear check/update Corporal. Some sweet gear I'd like to obtain myself in the near future. As I have received my awesome CC-HH Hatchet (extended handle); will be a great tool for my outdoor trips. Keep Rockin' bro.
Way to stay focused. The cicadas were getting on my nerves listening to the video. I was remembering last time they were out here crawling on me every day loading logs. Like the content!
Same here, my mom was soooo pissed off when she snapped the handle and I just laughed at her. I think I was about 10 at the time. My dad OTOH was the fastest belt East of the Mississippi. He could have that 1" strap off his pants and across your behind in about two seconds.
Ha! Hade a teacher back in 5th grade, that had a paddle with holes drilled in it (to reduce air resistance) hanging right under the clock on the wall 😳
Really like this new platform or really trying to promote other people like yourself. That will take you a long way..edit... And I finally got a notification this week.. wow 😲
My badgerclaw outfitter crazy horse leather sheath has weep hole and same offset on loop. Crazy horse wears a nice patina after you've worn and used it for some time. 👍 solid gear great vid
Great vid, with great gear. Love these mid week vids. I did finally break down and bought myself a survivalist hatchet from Hardcore Hammers. Great decision on my part, if I do say so myself.
So proud for you and Survival Mastery. I'm on a very tight fixed income. Need I say living pay check to pay check last couple years has made it tuff. I'll get joined when I can afford it.....
Hope this doesn't sound "stupid" or too rudimentary, but could you consider a video on the best way to load a pack? Weight, priority, convenience , all a lot to consider and I know most has to do with personal preference, but what were you told in basic?
The other thing I would like to see on that Lite Sleeper would be a zipper on the fold so that you could tie it inside the poncho and unzip a hole for your head to pop through for so you could wear it as an insulated poncho
Many years ago, Sootch00 showed that Spool tool. I bought one then. Ingenious design with the mini bic holder and the built-in utility knife blade. So far I only have one with basic 550 cord on it. This reminds me I need to buy a few more for storing my bankline and possibly some fishing line.
I LOVE that honing paddle and the cream. He’s right, 10 x and you’re good to go. My husband was a meat butcher and has always used his own method but watched me using THIS method and checked out my knife and was very impressed with the outcome. He, however, prefers his steel and that’s okay. The paddle is much lighter IMHO.
I subscribed to survival mastry last sunday after your video, also fyi the website for the pocho liner has linked your video. Great to see others promoting you, as you do them! Looking forward to this Sunday's video
Learned some tricks for making overnight, single location sleeping arrangements : Using military issue ground sheet (3x loops per long side), cut 6x Y sticks, about 300mm long, sharpened the tips, whack into the ground, and hook the groundsheet loops over the Y's. This works well in soft soil, sand and areas where sudden torrential rain can occur, eg, just south of the African tropics.
So I'm a huge lover of mora knives love seeing you use one .. the other knife that in my opinion doesnt ger alot of recognition is a ghromann knife we had them here I the canadian military for a while , what is your thoughts on them ?
If you have a vacum sealer it makes the fit for wet forming leather sheaths to your knife really well. Just a good idea to seran wrap the blade well so as to protect from rusting during the forming process.
Important question: I've been subscribed for years and appreciate your honest posts. Please do a segment about...Picaridin vs Deet vs "Ranger Ready" flea and TICK repel products. Which works best...chemically, and...which is easiest/most versatile for carrying with you (spray cans vs spritzer bottles???). Thanks
It is kind of funny seeing you use a mora knife with what you used in the past, (i totally understand) just seeing the comercial knife as compaired to the hand made knives in the past. All in all a good video!

@@recall5811 Been watching you for years. You're an inspiration so you're welcome.
Can’t wait to get my hands on that Corporals Corner axe! That sleeping bag is also a winner 👍🏼
The spool tool, been using it for years! Originally designed for use with paracord. Will hold 100 feet of paracord.
Certainly, a better than average video! Just here trying to jog the algorithm along!
All items cool AF! Thanks. Looking forward to Survival Mastery Online.
I love all Corporals Corner videos.

Outstanding A.F video my friend

Just like that, another excellent informative video!
Thanks Corporal😊
Love the content and the perspective of things keep it up can't wait to see what's in store for future videos
"Keep your ass in line" it all comes back to your discipline and your initiative. Drive on!
Thanks Corporal. I had thought that the guy and his company that make the Spool Tool had gone out of business. I hope that he’s back up and running. Handy darn thing.
am sure a few will jump on the 3D printer..........
The Morakiv Carbon Garberg is my favorite camping/survival knife, too! Not all knives are created equal!
I just wanted to pass on a "Thank You" for the link to Justin and his sheaths. I bought my wife a set of three BeaverCraft knives in black finish. She liked them but wanted left handed sheaths. used bankline on every shelter on my channel weekly for 4 years and never burned it once, buy better bankline it stays together

Around the same time. High school wrestling 72-75. My coach had a taped towel that he'd beat you with during practice. Loved it!

Hey Shawn, useful items, thanks for the review…🇺🇸
Ah the good old wood paddle with holes drilled. Thanks for the video of more stuff to add to my list.
I got paddled by something similar and larger two times as a student. As a third grader and then as an eighth grader by the school's principals. Those days are long gone.
@@caffiend. got nailed once at school. Worst was the willow branch. Made mom a cutting board in shop class. Told me it wasn’t big enough to swing.
I have the Mora Knife in orange. Love the knife. Hard to lose with bright color.
