In the US, fixed long-term contracts for rent are actually ideal, because that means you have a stable place to live for at least 2 years that won't do sudden price increases. Some contracts are 9 months (for students) or 1 year, and it's so hard to find housing/move again if the price hike is too much

It must be fun to cook in such a nice kitchen. ☕🍳🍛🍤🥗 Your first work station under the stairs reminded me of Harry Potter. He had a little bedroom under the stairs. Wow, your new computer location is a huge step up! Now you enjoy such a beautiful view! 🌳🌳🏔🐿 And I like all the plants you have! 🪴🌿🌱 Holy cats, 🐈you have 5 balconies! That is amazing! This is the first time I have heard of an apartment with so many balconies. It is wonderful that you have so much nature! 🌳🌳🌾🐿 You have green trees, you can see Mount Fuji, 🗻 you can walk to a beach! 🏖 You mentioned cute birds 🦜🐦and squirrels. 🐿I was at the library🌳 🏫🌳 in Ellettsville, Indiana. The back room has huge windows, and just outside there is a small garden with raised plant beds. I saw a small squirrel carrying a walnut. 🐿🌰 He started to dig in the grass 4 times, but he changed his mind every time. Then he walked next to a flower bed, dug a little hole and buried his walnut. 🌰 I suppose he liked mulch better than grass. 🌾🌾 Squirrels forget where they bury many of their nuts. These nuts grow into trees. 🌳🌳 So squirrels help a forest stay healthy by planting new trees! 🌳🐿 It would be nice to see your beach at sunset. 🏖🌅 I just checked the weather in Kamakura. You are enjoying a cool, 69 degrees Fahrenheit. 🌬🍃 Here in Bloomington, the temperature reached 95, 96 degrees for several days in a row! 🌞Today we finally have clouds, ☁☁☁and cooler weather. Loved the tour. Ngl lie I am quite jealous 😂 I live in Iceland and even tiny apartments cost more money than what you pay. Sometimes people rent out a garage to live in. I even saw someone offering a one bedroom flat without a shower (!!!) saying that it is possible to shower in a local pool (you have to pay for the pool access of course). The rent was more than a half of what you pay and that was a few years back 😅 In my first flat I had such a contract that the rent was getting higher every month. This is not uncommon in Iceland. Housing market here is crazy.

this is shonan, it depends on your nearby station but it's really not bad to live outside of tokyo. for me, I just hop on a train and it goes straight to tokyo :)
it really depends on the area but I was paying around $700 for a tiny one room apartment. it was like 3 min walk to JR station so that's why it was expensive.

I didn't know that! In Japan, it's really rare to experience a sudden increase in rent so usually people prefer a normal contract!

the housing market in japan is not as competitive but I definitely got lucky with the deal as well. I've seen crazy listings in tokyo as well 😂
