So happy for you guys. Huge upgrade and looks great. We have two screens so $30k didn’t seem to make sense for us when we ended up getting our LED walls installed for $60k. As you said what works best for your church is what’s most important. Congrats!
I'm glad you made the best choice that works for you rather than following whatever trend is currently popular. I'm sure LED walls will continue to come down in price, but you still have to factor in installation labor and power for the panels. You also don't have to worry about moire effect or refresh rate.
Hi there! Wow so it looks like it performs incredibly well under stage lighting conditions? I had been considering hiring a video wall for a series of events, but it may be better to purchase
Awesome video! It's kinda nice to see a church installing a nice projector instead of spending loads of money on a huge video wall. I would love to see a break down of that sweet mountain stage design and where you got it or how you made it. It looks awesome!
We just finished an install of a projector at our church! And it is helpful to see this video on how other churches are doing it and using it! Also how did you build that set design?
There's no need to go beyond what the mount manufacturer calls for. Blue locktight is not required for projector mounts. As long as you follow the directions in the manual, you're good to go.
Also, we could have just as easily ran network and convert to HDMI on each side but decided not to. SDI is an industry standard for video and audio using coaxial or fiber.
HDMI doesn’t do well over 25ft because it starts to degrade and be super unreliable. However, wireless HDMI can work well but latency was an issue for us with our previous setup.
Coax is best for low-latency video over 30 feet or so (depends on the resolution you're running). If you're beyond that, SDI is the best choice up to about 300' with RG6 and further with RG11. The HDMI over fiber cables are ok, but I'd make sure you have easy access to replace it as they're not as sturdy over time compared to SDI. Some of the benefits of SDI include connectors that can be field terminated, longer transmission range (up to 100m with RG6), locking connectors, and no HDCP to worry about. HDMI is also constantly doing handshakes to verify authenticity and connectivity, whereas SDI does not.

When are you going to be posting another video? Always fun to watch!
Thanks so much. Just posted a new one today: th-cam.com/video/RoxcJ5sJv_s/w-d-xo.html

You’re exactly right on everything you said. Simply put, we are just not ready for that yet. Thanks for watching Steve

Oh nice yeah we built it. I don’t have a video on it yet but it’s hopefully coming soon
What type of surface are you projecting on?
Looks pretty similar to how we set up our projectors.
That’s cool thanks for watching
You may want to blue locktight those bolts on the projector just to be safer over time
I did. Went back and added some the next day. Used some pro seal thread lock. Thanks for looking out though and thanks for watching.

Projection is still a great viable option compared to an LED wall for IMAG. You can run it off a single 120 circuit instead of needing huge power 😂
Coax? Did I miss something? I didn’t think coax was relevant anymore. What are the benefits over HDMI?
You can’t run HDMI 200 ft

They make active HDMI over fiber cables that can go very long distances but SDI is totally fine and makes more sense in this install
