Fun Fact: Some brands of Flareguns are chambered for 12 gauge. Yes, it is literally possible to chamber a flare in a 12 gauge shotgun and actually shoot it. Just... don't do the reverse... a flaregun firing a 12 gauge short shell will cause the flaregun to explode like a 3D printed one-time ghost gun.

Saw this thing, and I'm one of those guys who's a Mega fan, and all I could think was "Why didn't they make this using the new XL darts?"
EXACTLYYYY the flare gun's barrel even looks the exact size for a mega XL dart, such a waste of potential...
I think that the xl is more innacurate, but honestly that doesnt matter when an actual flare gun shoots a projectile and is probably inaccurate

The faux wrap being rubber is pretty sick and really adds to the value and playability. Really let’s you get an aggressive grip without adding hockey tape or whatever most HvZ players do

Flare guns are typically break action so it makes sense. It looks pretty cool.
The problem is that you don't actually load the dart forwards after breaking open the barrel. It's a fake break action, which Hasbro and X-Shot have a habit of doing

I wonder... if we did a small adjustment to the inner barrel, like replace it with a piece of brass that's the exact diameter of a Mega Dart, can it shoot Mega XL?
I mean, it looks like there's a lot of dead space in that faux break-barrel. Perhaps there's enough clearance for the BigBadBlues?

As the inner barrel could be made bigger, and it's possible to make it into a hammer action which also break action

They could have called it the FG, but then you'd have the FG, the DG. the HG and the HC. Maybe it would have been a better idea to come up with new names, rather than abbreviating the actual ones...
It’s because Fortnite Nerf guns are just named after their initials and then their rarity, so it’d just be “FG-R” which I guess isn’t the worst, but I feel like it makes sense to call it the Flare to tell you that it’s supposed to be a flare gun

I think it would be good for an inline clip mod. The break action would be used for reloding.
I was thinking rear loaded inline clip or spring thunder shells.
Watching this just makes me want a nerf x team fortress 2 crossover, this is like one of the few fortnite blasters that I would buy, you don't even have to much to turn it in to Pyro's stock flare gun or the detonator, it is a shame its not true break action.

Don't really have to do much to make it a Scorch Shot either.
You wouldn't have to do much, but the scorch shot is evil so I wouldn't, the scorch shot is the best looking flare gun in TF2.
At this point, I'd much rather have a dart zone x TF2 line.
Break action without shells is a bit of a funny thing in the nerf hobby. Either you have a cosmetic barrel shroud (eg the Mega Tri-Break), or youd have to somehow insert the dart tip first into the barrel without it falling out, and then still have it able to seat the dart in front of the plunger tube; which...good luck with that. So unless its a shell blaster like the Sledgefire or something, i think a cosmetic break action is pretty much whats doable.

Nah. The reason why they do fake break action is so kids can't load random objects into the blaster. It's a safety thing rather than a function issue. You'd just need a tooth to pop up when you break open the blaster, to prevent you from pushing the dart too far forwards.

they could at least have made it hammer prime, so unlocking the barrel would be the same action as priming, simulating true break-action. But no, using already existent engineering wasn't an option I guess.

What would be cool is if they turned the darts in to actual flares. Either by making them glow-in-the-dark, or making them a nice neon color, or even just giving them a glittery/reflective finish.

At least the fake break action could be fixed really easily this time, unlike with the Tricerablast and Tri-break. Just need a saw and a lot of putty. A custom barrel for either Sledgefire or Trilogy shells would be awesome but I guess it depends on how good the internals really are.

I like the idea of loading one of these up with one of those screamer darts and using it as a way to call for backup in an HvZ. No clue how practical or realistic this would be but the idea is cool
You know how the leverage makes a lever action kinda sorta superior?
Nerf can just make the barrels the lever.
And they can thus make a mechanism, which when fitted with metal parts can work with huge springs.

The best part about this blaster is it's function is exactly what my neighborhood friends used to use the magnus for back in the day since no one else really used mega back then. During our little "missions", the sound of a mega dart being shot straight into the sky was always a signal for "danger"

Mega XL or demolisher missile would either make this or break this.

Well damn. Its stupid how something piddly and gimmicky like this snared my attention like it did while damn near nothing from Nerf in the last year has had me bothering to look online or in store. I can appreciate the doofy gimmick of this blaster and would grab it - if it were hammer primed and the barrel break feature was rear loading. I actually feel kind of feel Rick Rolled with this one. It looked great until finding out its a jolt reskin for an absurd price just because its fort nite.
It could have been awesome. Break action prime like a sledgefire would have been cool too.
For this kind of Blaster, It's great, And I'll cut the slack with any form of Heavy drop off since a flair goes high and falls hard.

This would be a perfect blaster if someone mods it to shoot waffles and takes off the breach loading thing then you have a solid backup pistol
Honestly, if this could be modded to shoot normal sized rounds (maybe a smaller barrel) this could actually be a pretty good secondary. If you're doing a 1-shot gun party with some buds, this modded would probably perform better than the Knockout

Got one of these, absolutely love it. Rebarreled it for elite so I can use it regularly, also it doesn't hit as hard as a big shock. The darts whistle if you shoot them out of something a little stronger. The plunger tube to the barrel has a fair bit of distance and dead space, kind of a shame it can't make them scream. Mine might just be hitting a little soft though.
I see some sort of rubber band or hair tie being used on the inside that is attached to the plunger rod that somehow goes to the hammer. Then priming it would also open the barrel. It could remove a step of the reloading process
its just a jolt reskin with "break-action" and uses mega bullets
If the faux barrel could fit Spring Thunder shells, that would be the perfect pathway for real break action.

i got this blaster and i have noticed with the break action open when you fire the blaster it goes a lot further then with the barrel on
its less accurate but it goes like a meter or half a meter further then with the barrel closed
(using the normal mega darts because i didnt get the ones that come with it normally)
Now we just need modding community to turn that into that more annoying version of the flare gun called the scortch shot or.the detonator.
At least the detonator needs skill
The normal flare gun needs aim, the detonator needs timing, and the scortch shit needs neither

I haven't played TF2 but the Flare Gun could be pretty annoying in Fortnite. Not only have I shot a flare through a window to hit you for 60 damage, the floor is now on fire and I can see exactly where you are
If they do tf2 x nerf I want to see what they might do for the panic attack with the drum. Yah it will probably just be a part added to the shell, but if it isn't it will be amazing

this blaster would be great from a goodwill . take the flipping part off of the barrel off and it could be great in hvz's as a backup heavy ammo blaster

I got out of nerf, but I went to a store and saw this on the shelf and something about it just made me NEED it, I bought it the next time I was there when I had the money for it, and I LOVE it. It's so dumb, but it's so much fun to just shoot even if it's only one at a time

Its use could be for destroying shields, as shields can be destroyed in some events so it could be just a quick pull up and destroy type of weapon.

I got one of these recently. It was on special for $4.99 online at Walmart. I like shooting it around the house. It would have been cool if the mega darts that came with it were glow in the dark.
It would be more cooler when it has a red smoke when you fire it like the Buzz Bee Adventure Force Gunsmoke like what you did in the Tagmas. Nerf is so close of making a flare gun, but I still think it's a fun blaster to use.
This and the grenade launcher are the closest we are gonna get to official Tf2 blasters

They had an amazing design and they threw it all away for a t-prime.
I really like this blaster tbh. It'd make for a nice prop for not only a pyro cosplay, but if you find a way to keep the barrel closed, you got yourself a cheap Flintlock blaster.
It would have been cool if this worked like the shellstrike, where opening the breach primed the blaster.

yoinked one for $13 on clearance at a canadian tire. its a beaut! if you dont like the dangly sling mount thing you can take it off and put it on the pull priming handle, making it easier to prime. real cool!
someone needs to make this inline clip and half dart. break action, 2-3 darts, awesome.

Blaster's alright, I'd probably take off the breakaway section and replace with something else. Thumb's up for the background music, Bastion had such a good OST.
I swore it was going to be a Mega XL blaster, but I'm cool with Mega. Can it fire with the shroud/break-action piece open, or without it altogether? It looks like it can.
Theoretically you could just remove the hinged break system and jam any locks it might have, and then you’d have an ugly but far more functional front loader. Basically another Mega Jolt but with hammer priming and better performance.
I just whish putting back the barrel also primed the blaster, like the sledgefire. If it did I would get it.
If you shave down the letters you can turn it into a quite a good steampunk cosplay weapon and £15 is pretty good for something that can be converted and painted easily

I always saw the Triad as the Nerf equivalent of the flare gun for its look.

With the light up mega darts with ribbons attached you can use it as an actual flare gun to let everyone know you captured an objective.... Or call in a support drone.......yes my nerf events is on a large battlefield.

I'm definitely picking this one up if it shows up at the thrift store. I'd love to slap a PVC barrel over top and give it a less cartoony look.
I think getting some kind of upgrade kit to make the break action worth using would be pretty cool.

I get it's supposed to be a flare gun, but the hammer doesn't actually prime the gun, so that makes no sense. They should have just done a Barrelbreak type prime and let you load all three darts into the gun instead of one and then fire all three at once.
