For prop aircraft I engage autopilot at traffic pattern altitude, which is 1000 feet AGL, but proper procedure for a Dash 8 is probably a mix of company policy and personal preference.
dash8 won't budge after engines on and pushback. same even if i start with engines on on runway .. no movement of plane. emerg brake off. advice would be welcome.
Set the spoiler switch on the captain's side of the upper dashboard to "taxi" and move the Condition Levers from "Start & Feather" up to "Max". I think that's what worked for me, when I ran into this question.
I would prefer to make a checklist available when I have completed a few flights. I have to actually land the aircraft properly consistently first, which is taking longer than I expected.
Ok so I just bought the plane and apparently it comes with a pdf checklist which I printed, but the checklist is vague so your tutorials are extremely helpful. P.S. this plane is pretty hard to land, your speed has to be perfect otherwise you will float like crazy or drop like a rock. Happy landings!
There's definitely a very specific technique to put this aircraft down smoothly. I'm not at all sure it lands realistically, but maybe that will be clearer when I'm top of actually doing it.
The aircraft tends to wallow under 120 knots, and engine response appears slow during flare. But I will continue looking at it until I have worked it out.
How do I do that? When I set VS the speed of the plane increases so much and in order to stop the speed from increasing I have to turn off VS, so I can't really descent atm
Again really Nice tut mate. Thx alot
Do you engage auto pilot at 500 ft, or 4500 ft? I the video you engaged it at 4500 ft, but you said "Engage the autopilot when passing 500 ft"

@@FriendlyMarmot thanks, i'll give it a try.

is there anyway we can see your checklist?

How do I make the plane descent at T/D? When it hits T/D it stays at cruise altitude, please help
This implementation of the aircraft does not include VNAV. You will have to manage the descent manually.

I can only suggest reducing power to idle and using a shallow vertical speed.
thats funny cuz its not working for me
How do I use vnav?
I don't know about the latest version, but in the version used here VNAV doesn't work.
Anyone knows how can i get the dash?

What FPS plugin is he using
FPS plugin?
supanova fms, and what program for ur maps
The FMS is the XP11 default. You can find out more about it in the FMS tutorial. I use standard aviation charts as well as Skyvector.com.
supanova ok that’s why I’m using xplane10 when I use the gps I set speed and alt but my aircraft goes past the height and speed
Are you using ALT SEL? Also you can't select speed and altitude. You can only select one or the other using autoflight.
How do I adjust the cabin pressure for this plane? When I get anywhere near 10000ft I get a warning on the Annunciator panel.
I haven't looked at those controls much and what is there seems to be quite limited. I wouldn't expect them to function properly on this aircraft.
Ok, no problem. I even had a darkening effect like if the pilot was passing out. I had to dive lol.
I haven't encountered that issue before. I will have to set up a situation and see if it comes up.
thats not dash 8-q400
You may wish to take that up with the developers. ;)
