I've been looking at the Aspen C108, the 35 footer for a possible Loop boat. The 108 uses 2 outboards (1x200hp & 1x115hp) instead of an inboard diesel, and it's 8'2" airdraft opens up the ENTIRE Loop to exploration.
A lot of made in USA components and clearly high quality electrical and mechanical work by his team - Definitely adding this to my watch list. Very impressive.
Great video but I’m sorry did you see the price of that boat. Not to sound to negative about that boat but you’d be better off for the price get something like a Seawind 1370 cat for 200k less than that and then be able to sail around the world as well
you could get a decent sailing catamaran for a third the price, but they may not be sailors, i would be looking at something that has far more solar panels or hybrid capabilities. im pretty successful, but to drop a mill and take a year or two off, even just collecting dividends would put a strain on my finances, i dont know how a couple 20 year olds managed to acommplish this, need at least 1.5 mill i figure, that is the craziest part to me lol
For the right person this is the right boat. A lot of people don't know how to sail nor do they want to learn. The owner of this boat was someone in his 70's doing the Great Loop.
11 gallons of diesel at almost 20 knts cruise speed on a 40+ foot boat with a 13’10” beam can not be beat. Not to mention, it’s a single Volvo Penta D6 that will out last the boat. I do not own one yet, I will though, but I do agree a used 3/4 million dollar boat is not in most peoples budget.
@@koi3532 Youre right, offcourse, but i am from europe. A gallon is almost 5 liters at almost 2 dollar a liter, thats 11x 5 x 2 = 110 dollar an hour. Bit steep for me. I guess for a boat that size, its normal maybey even economical.
@@rpaasse6453 No that’s what is amazing, it is a single screw, only one engine, so it’s 55 dollars for 20 nautical miles in an hour. So you get there at a pretty good pace for such opulence. And as it is an offset catamaran, it handles the seas extremely well and very stable. But as I mentioned, you pay up front.

11 gallons an hour??? for cruising. Think again for an alternative.
