IU had said that she wanted to do a song for her fans that was simple and pleasing. This song became her 3rd Perfect All Kill of 2021 and unheard of achievement. The story is self contained although there are still those references and symbols that appear in other MV's like the train (which you did notice), but there are others too. When IU says simple she doesn't mean plain or lacking in symbolism or metaphors. I don't remember right off if you have reacted to her Dingo Music performance or not. If you haven't it is a really go way to get introduced to a lot of IU's current music. By current I mean songs of her 20's. The story of Strawberry Moon. At the start of the video IU is reminded that it is the night of the Strawberry moon. Much of the video is her remembering the time with her love. During the scene when they are sitting on the planet and they get up and he jumps from one planet to another and turns to her with his hand reaching out asking her to come with him. But she isn't ready to do that just yet. She searches her room for a locket and finds it under her bed. During the look around the room we see pictures on a bulletin board of scenes we will see later as she remembers the past. The locket as an inscription that says "let's meet under the Strawberry Moon". We then see more scenes from their past. We see him giving her the locket. Them we see him waiting on staircase under the Strawberry moon. It seems like he has been waiting for sometime and the look on his face seems like he is uncertain that IU is coming. We see IU climbing the stairs and upon reaching the top she takes his hand. In her hand is the locket. He turns to look at her and seems surprised that she has come. Having prepared himself for the disappointment of her not meeting him. She is now ready to fully commit to their relationship. Some have speculated that IU maybe in a relationship in part b/c of this song.
My favorite is "Celebrity", very meaningful song but with happy beat. "Dont forget among the cloudy dark, you are a start painted with a left hand." --
It's ironic how you say that her music puts you in a cool positive headspace, because I listen to IU's music when I want to cry HAHAH. But that just shows how diverse her music is, and how much her music and lyrics impact everyone! Sometimes I wish international fans understood Korean just so everyone can see how much more moving her songs are when you actually know the lyrics! Hits way deeper, happy or sad 😌❤

In the end of Lilac, we saw message "Spring is short, but it comes again." A trivia about this song, one night while in Busan, the beat/melody of this song just suddenly came to IU so she recorded it and then sent it to an acquaintance (maybe a composer) to see if it's track worthy, lol..
Facts abt Strawberry Moon: -IU want it to be “light & simple song that you can hum along to when you’re chatting, eating, studying etc in daily life .” -she writes the lyrics and co-composes it -she said this is “couple song” of Eight, bcs Eight’s theme is “orange sun” and “lethargy”, meanwhile “strawberry moon” ‘s theme is “love and energy” -intentionally released in midnight bcs it’s the time of fullmoon -however, midnight release is unconventional in S.Korea nowadays. IU's song wont show up on the charts even after 8 hours since it has been released. Most listeners listen to new music that is seen in the chart ranking; therefore, singers who release their songs at 12 AM will be at a loss. -regardless of that, strawberry moon still killed the charts in the afternoon
